Ethereal World: Vicious Cannon Fodder's Immortality Road-Chapter 934: Powerful Wood Power Of Dark Elves
"What’re you looking at? Disperse now." Xing Lou felt the weight of many gazes falling upon her. With her hands on her hips, she glared fiercely, and the Dark Elves scattered like frightened birds and beasts.
Though they dispersed and returned to their tasks, their graceful pointed ears twitched slightly, betraying the fact that they were still secretly paying attention to this group of newcomers who had suddenly arrived in their town.
Shenlian Yingyue laughed lightly at Xing Lou’s fierce demeanor. She found the Dark Elves both amusing and adorable. Just now, she had exchanged blows with Xing Lou, yet there had been no malice in the latter’s actions. Shenlian Yingyue guessed that Xing Lou simply had the habit of testing outsiders through combat whenever they entered the town.
Another detail drew her attention, the attitudes of the other Dark Elves toward Xing Lou. Their gazes carried both respect and a trace of fear. What exactly was Xing Lou’s identity in this town?
"Huang Ying Yue, since you defeated me, I’ll give you a reward. How about I be your tour guide around Twilight Desert Town?" Xing Lou said with a bold smile, speaking as though she already knew this group of immortals had just stepped into the town for the very first time.
She directed her words squarely at Shenlian Yingyue. Among this group, only she felt approachable. The others carried an aura that clearly warned strangers to stay far away, thousands of miles away, if possible.
"Great, Miss Xing Lou, please tell us more about your lifestyle here." Shenlian Yingyue accepted warmly, smiling with open cheer.
"Just call me Xing Luo." Xing Lou waved her hand dismissively.
The two soon struck up a friendship. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
The men traveling with Shenlian Yingyue exchanged glances, speechless. They wanted to remind her not to trust strangers so quickly, but when they saw how easily she got along with Xing Lou, their words stuck in their throats. Forget it, if Xing Lou dared to harbor bad intentions toward her, they would simply eliminate her.
Shenlian Yingyue, however, sensed no such malice. She liked Xing Lou’s straightforward, unpretentious nature. Fierce though she was, Xing Lou did not seem a bad person at heart.
To Xing Lou, Shenlian Yingyue’s simple, guileless demeanor was refreshing. Interacting with her brought joy, for there was no hidden scheming, only carefree openness.
As if by tacit agreement, neither asked about the other’s background or identity.
From Xing Lou’s guidance, Shenlian Yingyue quickly concluded that the Dark Elves were simple by nature and genuinely friendly.
They relied on their innate healing powers to treat other immortal races and earn spirit stones. They bore no prejudice against any race. As long as one could pay the required fee, they would gladly heal the patient.
Every Dark Elf was born with a wood attribute. Their wood power was unique, allowing them to defend, attack, and heal, three powers in one.
Just moments ago, after Shenlian Yingyue had struck Xing Lou, she had watched her opponent use wood power to heal herself instantly without relying on pills or elixirs. Some higher ranked Dark Elves, with deeper cultivation, could even purify poison, malignant energy, and venom.
Shenlian Yingyue was fascinated. This wood power was like a golden finger. With such abilities, the Dark Elves seemed nearly invincible.
They were not the strongest race in terms of raw combat power, but their usefulness ensured that no one dared to provoke them. In the Immortal Realm, their status as healers was so revered that countless powerful forces willingly protected them.
Anyone who harmed a Dark Elf would become the enemy of all immortal beings. Immortals might fight, plunder, and kill one another, but healers were untouchable.
Healers were treasures, respected and admired by every race.
The Twilight Desert Town bustled with liveliness. As they walked toward the center, Shenlian Yingyue and her companions saw crowds of humans, beast clans, and immortals who had all come seeking treatment.
"Why did you attack me just now?" Shenlian Yingyue finally asked, still puzzled. At first, she had assumed Xing Lou simply liked fighting, but perhaps there was more.
"I enjoy combat. When I get injured, I use my wood power to heal myself. The more wounds I mend, the more familiar I become with my power. Only by practicing through battle can my wood power truly grow stronger," Xing Lou explained frankly.
"You’re quite harsh on yourself. Are the other Dark Elves like you?" Shenlian Yingyue asked in astonishment.
"No. Most grow stronger by healing others, contributing their merit to the world. The more people they heal, the stronger they become. But if they only focus on healing and neglect fighting, their combat strength remains weak," Xing Lou shook her head.
"Most Dark Elves are gentle by nature. I’m different, I would rather be a fighter than merely a healer." As she spoke, she bought a strange glowing drink and offered it to Shenlian Yingyue.
Shenlian Yingyue looked at Xing Lou with appreciation and admiration. She was strong, independent, and brave, the kind of woman she both respected and liked.
"Wow, it’s delicious." Shenlian Yingyue then removed her mask and drank without hesitation. With a single sip, warmth surged through her body as if she were soaking in a hot spring. The liquid was both sweet juice and herbal medicine, refreshing and unlike anything she had ever tasted before.
Previously, she had worn a mask and cloak for convenience, but now it no longer mattered. She stored them away into her Ethereal Small World.
Xing Lou froze, her eyes widening as Shenlian Yingyue’s true face was revealed. Such dazzling beauty stunned her completely. Even among Dark Elves and some races, who were famed for their elegance, she had never seen such a breathtaking woman. Her beauty was so radiant it seemed to blind the eyes.
"This drink is made from spiritual fruits mixed with herbs from ancestral recipes," Xing Lou coughed lightly, her pointed ears flushing red. Even as a woman, she could not help being captivated by Shenlian Yingyue’s beauty and aura.
Shenlian Yingyue tried to offer spirit stones, but Xing Lou firmly refused.
Soon after, Xiao Yun, Shenlian Yinzhu, Zhiyi, Bing Xue, Xiong Zi Ying, Xiao Lan, Xie Xie, and Xiao Li each bought a cup. With a single sip, their eyes lit up in delight.
The drink was expensive, but its effects were worth the price. Anyone would willingly pay for such a rare and beneficial refreshment.
"What beautiful little ones, cat, fox, and tiger!" Xing Lou’s eyes shone with excitement as Xiao Yun, Xiao Li, and Xiao Lan leapt into Shenlian Yingyue’s hands. She eagerly stretched out her hand, wanting to stroke their fur.
Just earlier, Xiao Yun had been floating quietly, concealing his presence, while Xiao Li had perched arrogantly on Xie Xie’s shoulder, and Xiao Lan rested coldly on Zhiyi’s. With their auras suppressed, Xing Lou had not noticed them before.
However, Xiao Li, though playful, was proud and refused to let anyone but Shenlian Yingyue touch him. Xiao Lan, aloof and indifferent, also turned away. Their personalities were different, but they shared one trait, they rejected Xing Lou’s touch. As for Xiao Yun, if he did not wish to be touched, who in the world could draw near to him?
"I’m sorry, they dislike being touched by others," Shenlian Yingyue said apologetically.
"No problem." Xing Lou sighed regretfully. What woman could resist the temptation of hugging such adorable, fluffy creatures? Unfortunately, these little darlings did not like her.
The sky soon darkened.
Shenlian Yingyue politely bid farewell to Xing Lou and chose an inn to stay in. After all, no matter how friendly Xing Lou was, it would not be proper to stay in the home of someone she had only just met.
Xing Lou did not press her to stay. Indeed, it would have been inconvenient. Trust, like cultivation, required time and could not be rushed.
