Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 526: Only You Know What Weighs on Your Heart
Audrey Sutton didn’t notice where Arthur Sutton’s gaze was fixed. She just nudged his arm with her elbow and pointed her chin in Janelle Tollman’s direction, saying to Arthur, "Third Brother, look at that little boy. Doesn’t he look like you when you were young?"
Arthur Sutton responded with a faint "Hmm," and even though it was just a brief word, Audrey could sense her brother’s mood was much colder than usual.
She then turned to look at Arthur’s face. It seemed to be no different from usual. Perhaps it was just her imagination?
Audrey noticed Arthur’s gaze was still in Janelle’s direction and continued, "Do you still remember her? The woman who owns the perfume shop."
Arthur was silent for two seconds before responding nonchalantly, "I have a vague impression."
Wayne Archer, leading a mother and her two children, headed outside the airport. Meanwhile, Audrey heard Arthur say, "What time is their flight? Maybe I’ll wait here while you all head back first."
Audrey turned to look at Shane, seeing he didn’t express any opinion. She asked Arthur, "Third Brother, aren’t you picking up your friend?"
Arthur let out a breath and said, "I just received a message; the flight is delayed and won’t arrive soon."
"Oh." Audrey grabbed Shane’s hand, checked his wristwatch, and said, "Grandma and Grandpa are almost here. We might as well wait and go back with them."
Arthur responded absentmindedly with a "Hmm," and Audrey couldn’t shake the feeling that something was odd.
She quietly pulled Shane aside, asking softly, "Aren’t you close with my Third Brother? What’s up with him? Why does it seem like something’s on his mind?"
Shane replied, "You said it yourself, something on his mind. Only he knows what that is."
Audrey found herself unable to refute his response.
She realized she had asked the wrong person. If she had asked what work they’d been discussing recently, Shane might have had an answer. Asking him about someone else’s private matters was like asking nothing at all.
Just as Audrey hesitated whether to ask Arthur herself, she sensed he seemed to have returned to normal.
When Grandma and Grandpa arrived, he chatted and laughed with them warmly as usual, as if nothing was amiss.
Grandma and Grandpa were still the same as always, bickering the moment they got off the plane.
Grandma called Grandpa an old relic, saying he stayed on the island too much and never got out to see the world.
Grandpa said Grandma was too troublesome, always wanting to go out and often forgetting things, like leaving her phone charger at home again.
Then Grandma blamed Grandpa for not helping her pack properly, saying he was just nitpicking after the fact.
On the way back, they refused to ride in the same car. Grandpa went with Third Brother, and Grandma got in Shane’s car with Audrey.
Their bickering wasn’t anything new. They’ve spent a lifetime this way.
They disliked each other’s quirks but have always accommodated each other.
They knew all of each other’s faults, yet they stayed together for a lifetime.
Audrey hoped that she and Shane could continue this kind of romantic love in their family.
Soon, National Day arrived.
Although the wedding was held at the same place, the location for picking up the bride was different.
Phoebe King’s family wasn’t domestic and not many customs were observed, so they picked her up at the hotel.
Even though Laura Yates’ family lived in Rivia, her relationship with them was strained. After she ran away from the last wedding arrangement, things almost reached a breaking point.
Her family didn’t treat her as a daughter, more like a tool for exchanging benefits.
After Laura fled that arranged marriage, her family initially said they wouldn’t care about her and told her not to return home.
Later, upon learning Laura’s partner was the Sutton’s second son, The Yates Family saw potential benefits and approached Laura a few times privately.
When Franklin Sutton found out, he took Laura back to her family and gave them a sum of money, warning them not to harass Laura again.
The Yates Family quieted down after getting the money and never bothered Laura again.
Thus, today, Laura didn’t even notify The Yates Family about the wedding.
The pick-up location was where Laura rented her apartment.
The wedding venue was a wedding theme park, specifically built for weddings. Generally, people can’t schedule a day, especially on auspicious holidays like these.
The family pulled some strings to secure the venue.
On one side of the vast lawn stood a grove of ginkgo trees, their leaves golden yellow at this time of year, carpeting the ground with a unique romantic flair.
The groomsmen were the family’s unmarried brothers, and the bridesmaids included a friend of Laura Yates from the editorial department and Arthur’s roommate.
Bear, having heard that Audrey’s brothers made up the groomsmen, was more excited than the bride today, hoping to become Audrey’s sister-in-law.
Flora Lane, after dating Lucian Quinn, had become much more reserved in the presence of handsome men, no longer making crude jokes.
Seraphina Vaughn was just a content participant, adding to the number.
Phoebe’s family was abundant, and many relatives from the Suttons’ side came, making the wedding lively and bustling.
Although Audrey had already been through two weddings of her own, she still felt deeply moved.
As the two couples on stage were making their vows, Audrey discreetly reached out and held Shane’s hand.
Shane glanced down and then turned his palm to enclose her somewhat cold hand in his warmth.
They exchanged a glance, and Audrey smiled with her eyes; she said nothing but leaned closer to him, continuing to watch the stage.
On stage, after exchanging rings, the emcee announced, "Now the groom may kiss the bride."
Then everyone saw Franklin lift Laura’s veil and brought her into a warm, romantic kiss.
The scene turned to Stephen Sutton and Phoebe.
Phoebe looked up at Stephen through her veil, and Stephen looked down at her, yet hesitated to make a move.
Phoebe knew Stephen was probably shy, with so many people watching, and doubted he’d manage to kiss in such a conservative mindset.
Seeing the applause from the audience winding down, Phoebe didn’t want to let the moment slip by, fearing it would feel regrettable later.
So she lifted her hand, unveiled herself, hooked her arm around Stephen’s neck, stood on tiptoe, and kissed him...
Causing the audience who noticed to chuckle.
Phoebe’s family was very open-minded, seeming like those who didn’t sweat the small stuff.
They feared Phoebe’s carefree nature would cause trouble, repeatedly asking Hazel Yates to bear with her in the future.
Hazel had always been fond of Phoebe, so naturally, there were no issues in their mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship.
So far, both the sisters-in-law have been easy to get along with; what the future holds for the others remains unknown.
After the ceremony, Hazel Yates urged the third son about his marriage again at the table.
