Infinite Adaptation: Starting As A Level 1 Slime-Chapter 48: Beast Nation
Every instinct in the Orc King’s body screamed at him.
His heart pounded hard and his blood ran cold.
This was not a threat but a promise.
"...I won’t care about your usefulness anymore."
She released him.
He collapsed to the ground, gasping for air.
"So you better behave."
Roselle turned to the Goblin Shaman.
The Shaman immediately raised both hands.
"I’m obedient! I’m obedient!"
Roselle scoffed.
She began walking away.
"Follow me."
The Shaman swallowed hard.
She glanced down at the Orc King, still sprawled on the ground.
With a sigh, she reached down and helped him to his feet.
As she did, her mind raced.
Just who could make Roselle call them "Lord"?
Her eyes widened.
Could it be...?
No way, right?
But Roselle was the most obsessed with the Eternal Moon, even among them.
There was no way she could call anyone else her lord.
Then did this mean...
"Not coming?"
Roselle’s voice cut through her thoughts.
She had stopped and was looking back at them with impatience.
"Coming! Coming!"
The Shaman grabbed the still-dazed Orc King and hurried after her.
...
The three of them reached the church.
Roselle stopped before the entrance and called out.
"My Lord, they’re here."
She glanced back at the Goblin Shaman and the Orc King.
Her eyes reminded them not to forget what they had talked about.
The Orc King averted his gaze, still nursing his wounded pride.
The Shaman simply nodded.
The church doors opened.
The two leaders looked toward the entrance, curious about what kind of individual could command someone like Roselle.
Suddenly...
A wave of mana exploded outward.
The mana wasn’t exactly overwhelming for people of their level...
But this feeling...
Their eyes went wide.
Their legs gave out beneath them.
They fell to their knees instantly, foreheads pressed against the ground.
"We greet the Eternal Moon!"
Their voices rang out in perfect unison.
Lunaris smiled as he stepped out of the church.
Looks like it worked.
He had figured that since all beastmen worshiped the Moon Goddess, they would listen if he played the part correctly. Especially considering these two had fought over this barren land just to be closer to their deity.
Well, he was going to give them their lord.
"Rise."
His voice carried a calm authority.
The two struggled to their feet, their heads still bowed.
"I thank you for your loyalty."
He looked between them.
"Gather everyone from your tribes before me. I wish to address them."
He turned to Roselle.
"You do the same."
Roselle bowed deeply.
"As you command, my Lord."
...
After they left, Lunaris nodded to himself.
They were indeed powerful.
He could sense it clearly.
I hope they aren’t as scheming as Roselle though.
He considered what he had observed.
The Orc King seemed to have nothing going on upstairs. So he was probably safe there.
But the Shaman...
They say the older one gets, the more cunning they become. He would have to keep an eye on her.
He didn’t want another Roselle.
Well, none of this will be a problem as long as my strength grows.
He smiled.
And I have some ideas about that.
...
Later.
A massive crowd stretched before him.
Damn.
He had underestimated just how many of them there were.
Making a quick count, he determined there were roughly five thousand goblins. And about the same number of orcs.
Ten thousand in total.
This is going to be difficult.
Luckily, his Spatial Domain had expanded to two hundred whole meters. He could easily perceive all of them without issue.
And that was without the filter.
If he was filtering, his range might even reach a mile. But that was a whole other matter.
He breathed in deeply.
Then his voice exploded outward.
He was using Mana Manipulation to vibrate the mana particles within his domain. This allowed his voice to be heard everywhere equally, regardless of distance.
The beastmen looked around in confusion.
They could hear his voice from every direction at once. As if he was standing right beside each of them.
"My people."
His voice resonated through the crowd.
"Just a short while ago, I visited the human nation."
He extended his hand forward.
A group of beastmen appeared beside him.
Around two hundred of them.
Wolf ears. Cat tails. Scales. Feathers.
They looked around in confusion, still disoriented from being stored for so long.
"There, I encountered these beastmen."
His expression darkened.
"They were captured. Caged like animals. Being sold as slaves."
Murmurs rippled through the crowd.
Expressions twisted with anger and disgust.
Fists clenched. Teeth bared.
"I want to build a nation for us beastmen."
His voice grew stronger.
"A nation where we are free. Without oppression. A nation where all beastmen can live happily for generations to come."
He paused, letting his words sink in.
"And once our nation grows strong..."
His eyes hardened.
"I will go to the humans and seek an explanation for what they have done to my people."
The crowd erupted.
Roars of approval. Shouts of agreement. The stomping of feet shook the ground.
Lunaris raised his hand.
The noise died down.
His voice softened.
"Unfortunately... I do not have the strength to do this alone."
He looked out at the sea of faces before him.
"Will you help me?"
Silence.
Then...
"YES!"
The unified roar of ten thousand voices shook the very air.
Lunaris smiled.
It’s working.
His expression grew serious.
He had exaggerated a bit. But he was indeed determined to seek an explanation from the humans.
Maybe it was because these people worshiped him as their lord. But deep within himself, he felt a genuine sense of responsibility. A duty to help them.
He smiled at the crowd and raised his hand once more.
They fell silent.
"Since you have agreed to help me, I shall reward you."
He let his hand fall to his side.
"I am going to give you a blessing."
Murmurs and buzzing erupted through the crowd.
A blessing?
From the Eternal Moon?
"The rabbit beastmen who were already here have received my blessing."
He gestured toward the rabbit tribe members scattered throughout.
"And now, I shall grant it to you as well."
The newcomers looked at the rabbit beastmen with envy.
The rabbit beastmen simply wore smug expressions.
Lunaris extended his hand.
