Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 329: So Afraid Something Will Happen to Him
The news reported that the suspect was shot dead on the spot during the arrest.
No one cared about what happened at the scene that led to the suspect being shot dead. They just thought that a person who bore the burden of three lives and still remained at large committing crimes deserved to die, whether shot on the spot or sentenced to death.
Clarissa Morgan looked at the reports online. Although the person was successfully silenced, she couldn’t feel happy because Audrey Sutton was still alive and well.
And now a valuable pawn she could have used was gone.
Nevertheless, she believes that in the future, there will surely be more opportunities.
Hazel Yates sent lunch to Audrey Sutton through the family’s servant. Initially, Audrey was to have her meal in the hospital restaurant, but she was too worried about Shane Warner to leave, so she ended up having a few bites in the corridor outside the emergency room.
In truth, she had no appetite, but she didn’t want her parents to worry.
Faye Xavier somehow got the news and came to the hospital with Mor in the early afternoon.
Around half past one, the doctor came out of the emergency room. The doctor was Evan Sutton’s colleague and naturally knew Shane Warner’s identity. He immediately came over to inform them, "The surgery is over, but Third Young Master’s condition is currently unstable. There’s significant internal bleeding, and he needs to be observed in the ICU for a few days."
Audrey Sutton immediately asked, "Can I see him?"
"The anesthesia hasn’t worn off yet, and he hasn’t woken up. He will be taken directly to the intensive care unit. The hospital will take good care of him; you can all go home for now. The hospital will call to inform you of any updates."
Without seeing Shane Warner, Audrey Sutton remained worried, but the ICU is not a place you can enter casually.
Evan Sutton patted Audrey Sutton’s shoulder and said, "Go home; I’ll help keep an eye here and notify you immediately if anything happens."
Not wanting to cause trouble for the doctors, Audrey had to reluctantly go home with her parents.
The wound on her arm ached a bit, so she took two painkillers after returning.
She sat blankly on the sofa, seeming both worried about Shane and still in shock.
In the evening, Franklin Sutton returned home after finishing work at the police station.
Seeing Audrey in low spirits, he decided against asking her to give a statement at the station the next day.
Although the suspect was dead, the case still had many unanswered questions.
What was his relationship with the three girls? What was his motive for killing? Why did he stalk Audrey Sutton and make her his target?
Everything remained an eternal mystery. The analysis of the case was based on some initial speculations that could no longer be confirmed.
Initially, it was thought that capturing the suspect would unravel everything, but after weeks of effort, all that remained was a mute corpse.
In the evening, the family naturally didn’t want Audrey Sutton to stay alone, so after dinner, Scott Sutton drove her back to bring over General and Pea and pack a few changes of clothes.
At least during Shane Warner’s hospital stay, Audrey Sutton would have to live with The Suttons.
The next day.
Audrey Sutton did not sleep well the entire night. Whenever she closed her eyes, she seemed to hear gunshots in the empty parking lot, and even under the covers, she felt uneasy.
Around five o’clock, Audrey got out of bed. Her fifth brother said that today they could go to the hospital to see Shane Warner, though only for half an hour and only through the glass.
But Audrey eagerly awaited the time the doctors started work and prepared to visit Shane Warner.
She went downstairs to get some water. Since it was still early, most of her brothers were still asleep.
She vaguely heard her parents’ voices and saw them at the entryway when she went down. Her father seemed to be heading out, while her mother was fixing his tie and giving him some reminders.
They looked so loving, like a couple who had just gotten married.
Audrey felt envious and started worrying about Shane Warner again.
She longed for her future romance with Shane Warner to remain as fresh as her parents’, but then she remembered the current uncertain situation of Shane in the hospital.
She became a bit pessimistic, realizing that life is full of too many unexpected events, making long-term plans and promises seem particularly fragile.
What she could do was be thankful to see the sun today and cherish the person still by her side.
After Hazel Yates saw Samuel Sutton off, she returned inside and saw Audrey downstairs.
"Why are you up so early today? Are you too worried about Shane to sleep?"
Audrey didn’t deny it, holding the warm cup in her hands, nodding, and saying, "Mom, I’m so scared something will happen to him."
Hazel Yates smiled and took Audrey’s hand, saying, "I know how you feel. When I was pregnant with your eldest brother, your father was in a car accident while on a business trip and stayed in the ICU for some days. I worried every day, thinking about what I would do if anything happened to him and how I would take care of the baby alone. Every time I thought about it, I couldn’t stop crying."
Audrey lowered her eyes and took a deep breath.
"Go back and sleep a little more. I’ll make breakfast, and then when your fifth brother leaves for work, we’ll go to the hospital to see Shane."
Audrey nodded.
"Didn’t your fifth brother say yesterday that Shane is doing well and will be okay?"
Just then, Evan Sutton came downstairs.
Hazel Yates smiled, "Why are you all up so early today? I haven’t even prepared breakfast yet."
Evan looked at Audrey, whose eyes were red, and although she hadn’t shed tears, it was clear that she was feeling low. He came down and said, "I just called my colleague on duty, and Shane’s condition is better than expected. Little sister, you don’t have to worry."
Audrey asked, "Can he eat? I can bring him something to eat later."
Evan chuckled, "Don’t worry; the hospital will provide his meals. His diet needs to be light in the coming days, so there’s no need to bring anything, he’ll eat at the hospital."
"But does he have an appetite?"
"When he woke up last night, he was a bit confused and didn’t eat, but just now, he said he drank some porridge and went back to sleep."
Audrey frowned, still visibly worried, and desperately wanted to stay by his side. Being alone in the hospital room must be a tough feeling.
After breakfast, Stephen Sutton went to the school to get Audrey Sutton a day off. Audrey and Hazel Yates then went to the hospital with Evan Sutton.
When Audrey was brought outside Shane Warner’s room, she saw through the glass that he was lying pale on the bed, with his eyes closed, seemingly asleep.
Scott Sutton pointed to the telephone, signaling that she could talk to him through it.
Audrey understood but thought Shane was sleeping, so she didn’t pick up the phone, afraid of disturbing him.
Leaning against the glass, looking at his frail and lifeless appearance, Audrey couldn’t hold back her tears.
