Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 296: Splitting the Inheritance
Shane Warner stepped over the group of drama queens lying on the ground, wailing, and walked up to Audrey Sutton. He crouched down to untie the ropes binding her hands. π§πππππ«π·π€πΏππ‘.ππ€πΆ
She didnβt realize it was him, her body instinctively shrinking back a bit.
"Itβs me," Shane Warner said softly to reveal his identity.
The moment her hands were free, she immediately untied the cloth covering her eyes.
Her eyes were already puffy and red from crying, tears still streaming down.
She initially wanted to embrace him, but when she saw the bloodstains on his chest, her hand froze, feeling a bit at a loss.
Actually, the fake blood was quite convincing, with the color spot on, but it had no smell.
However, Audrey Sutton didnβt notice. At this moment, startled as she was, even her usually calm mind might not have detected it.
"... Where are you hurt?" Her tears fell one after another, her hands trembling as she wanted to touch him, yet afraid of accidentally touching his wound.
Though Shane Warner was annoyed at Faye Xavier for putting Audrey Sutton in such a predicament, he deliberately weakened his voice, playing along with the act, "Iβm fine."
"Bleeding so much, and you say youβre fine!" Her tone was anxious and frightened, glancing around at the people lying on the ground.
She also saw Faye Xavier and Morgan Quinn standing not far away.
Thinking Shane Warner had brought them along, she looked at Faye Xavier pleadingly, her voice trembling as she said, "Brother Xavier, please call an ambulance..."
Faye Xavier: "..."
Morgan Quinn, pretending, took out his phone, "Iβll call right away."
Audrey Sutton looked at the wound on Shane Warnerβs face and the bloodstains on his shirt, her face turning pale. She reached out, wanting to unbutton his shirt to check where he was injured.
Shane Warner caught her hand to stop her, then bent down to carry her horizontally. Looking at her worried gaze, he softly said, "I wonβt die. The insurance you secretly bought for me wonβt take effect."
Audrey Sutton glared at him, as if blaming him for making jokes at a time like this, "Put me down. Iβm not hurt; I can walk myself. This way, your wound wonβt stop bleeding."
Shane Warner reluctantly explained, "Itβs someone elseβs blood."
"Really?"
"You donβt trust my skills? Just a few punks, and you think Iβd get hit?"
Audrey Sutton heard his relaxed tone, confident and full of vigor, indeed not seeming like someone seriously injured.
Uneasily, she turned her head to glance at the motionless people lying in pools of βbloodβ, whispering to Shane Warner, "Should we report it to the police first? Even if something happens, we should be considered self-defense, right?"
"Iβll handle it."
Shane Warner carried her to where the cars were parked by the dock, bent over, and placed her in the back seat of the car, tossing the car keys to Morgan Quinn, "Take her back."
Audrey Sutton saw Shane Warner didnβt intend to get in, she quickly grabbed his hand and asked, "Where are you going?"
Shane Warner patted her head, "Be good, go back first, nothing will happen."
Audrey Sutton knew those people were gravely injured and not his match, but she feared his hands would be stained with blood, "Call my second brother over, okay? Theyβre kidnappers, the law will punish them... I donβt want you to dirty your hands."
Morgan Quinn glanced at Shane Warner guiltily, if the cops indeed got involved, it would all be screwed.
"Donβt worry, I know what Iβm doing. Go back and wait for me." Shane Warner gently pried off her hand, soothingly patting her head, then closed the car door under her worried gaze.
Morgan Quinn locked the car, slowly starting the engine.
Audrey Sutton rolled down the window, leaning against it and looking at him.
Her small face was dirty from crying, her ponytail was messy, the strands of hair swaying back and forth across her face with the sea breeze blowing in through the window.
Shane Warner stood still, watching her leave before turning around and walking back.
Faye Xavier and the group of brothers were cleaning up the scene, still laughing and teasing about the recent βperformanceβ.
"You, come here," Shane Warner pointed at Faye Xavier, coldly saying.
Faye Xavier, who was laughing heartily just a moment ago, immediately wiped off his smile and walked over to Shane Warner, acting like a sycophant, "Master Shane?"
Shane Warner raised his foot, aiming at Faye Xavierβs rear, but it wasnβt a real kick, and the force wasnβt strong.
Faye Xavier held his rear, laughing cheekily, "Master Shane, you shouldnβt be mad about this, my brothers and I went through all this trouble to help you act in a heroic rescue, right? Just to casually strengthen your relationship with your sister-in-law, you see, she was moved to tears."
Shane Warner coldly glanced at him, "I see you had nothing better to do, you scared her into that state?"
"We didnβt scare her."
"I did?"
Faye Xavier, self-righteously, said, "... It was her scaring herself. We didnβt say a word the whole way, she was like a drama series playing in her mind, going on like a Little Monk chanting Incantations. If I were really a kidnapper, Iβd probably be convinced by her to let someone go."
Faye Xavier said, pulling out his phone from his pocket, "I recorded it, Master Shane, do you want to hear?"
Shane Warner glanced at Faye Xavier but was curious about what Audrey Sutton might have said in such a situation, so he reached out and took Fayeβs phone, tapping play on the recording, and immediately Audrey Suttonβs voice came through, "Dear sirs, letβs discuss this. Whether youβre kidnapping me or helping someone else, itβs just about money..."
Her voice sounded fairly calm, better than Shane Warner had expected.
Faye Xavier chuckled, "This part isnβt the real masterpiece, Master Shane, keep listening."
Faye Xavier pulled the progress bar along the recording, and immediately Audrey Suttonβs other statements came through, "That bastard Shane Warner is just eager for me to die; heβs got a whole bunch of mistresses. My dying is best to clear space for those sly little foxes of his..."
Shane Warnerβs brow furrowed.
And then, the words that stunned him even more, "If he truly comes later, you kill him first, then kill me. No, can you just kill him and not me? Heβs done so many evil deeds, deserves to die, but Iβm innocent, met the wrong person, had an unhappy marriage. If I end up dying because of a scumbag, my life really is unfortunate, and plus, if he dies, I can inherit his fortune, can I give you some then?"
He risked his life rescuing her, and she was actually thinking about inheriting his fortune.
Seeing Shane Warnerβs sour expression, Faye Xavier quickly clarified, "Thatβs all her own words, I didnβt threaten her or teach her!"
Shane Warner threw the phone back to Faye Xavier, who fumbled with it, nearly needing a new phone.
"Hey hey, Master Shane, you could think of it as giving her a kidnapping drill. You think about her words, really encountering bandits would surely let someone go, because... Only your little sister-in-law could possibly do the inheritance splitting thing, hahahahaha!"
