Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 291: I Want to Sleep with You
Audrey Sutton waved her hand without thinking and said, "My husband’s waiting for me outside, no need to trouble Boss Hawke."
She waved at Nolan Hawke and quickly headed out of the bar with her power bank.
Nolan Hawke followed Audrey Sutton out of the bar at a leisurely pace.
When Audrey Sutton stepped outside, Shane Warner’s car was parked by the porch. Faye Xavier and Luc were also standing by the porch, chatting with a couple, likely familiar colleagues they had worked with before.
Not wanting Shane Warner to wait impatiently, Audrey Sutton didn’t greet Faye and the others, instead heading straight to the car door and slipping into the front passenger seat.
Just as she was about to close the door, she caught a glimpse of Nolan Hawke out of the corner of her eye.
She paused briefly, intending to pretend she hadn’t seen him, and closed the car door.
"Knock, knock—"
She never expected Nolan Hawke to come over and knock on the passenger window before Shane Warner could start the car.
Audrey Sutton couldn’t pretend to be oblivious anymore. She rolled down the window and inquired, "What can I do for you, Boss Hawke?"
Nolan Hawke leaned in slightly, smiling at Audrey Sutton, then looked past her at Shane Warner in the driver’s seat. "Third Young Master, could you give me a lift? I’ve had a bit to drink, and it’s unsafe for me to drive."
Shane Warner gave Nolan Hawke a quick once-over, suspicious of the odd request.
To begin with, they weren’t very familiar with each other.
Secondly, getting a chauffeur wouldn’t cost much.
Moreover, with so many empty taxis waiting by the roadside, if it were him, he’d choose to hail one himself rather than ask a mere acquaintance for a ride.
Not sure if Nolan Hawke genuinely just wanted a lift or had some hidden agenda, Shane Warner didn’t want to engage with him any longer.
Out of respect for the relationship between Audrey Sutton and Nolan Hawke’s girlfriend, Shane Warner refrained from a direct refusal. "It’s not on my way. I’ll have my assistant take you."
With that, Shane Warner quietly said to Audrey Sutton, "Call Faye over."
Audrey Sutton hesitated briefly, then leaned out of the window and waved at Faye Xavier, still standing by the porch chatting. "Brother Xavier!"
Faye Xavier looked over at Audrey Sutton and, not daring to delay, walked towards her immediately, asking with a smile, "What’s up, sister-in-law?"
Before Audrey Sutton could explain, Shane Warner instructed directly, "Take Mr. Hawke home first."
Faye Xavier glanced at Nolan Hawke, finding him somewhat unfamiliar, uncertain about when Shane had made this new acquaintance. Still, he smiled and nodded, saying, "No problem, Master Shane. Don’t worry."
Shane Warner nodded and rolled up Audrey Sutton’s window, then slowly drove onto the street before asking Audrey Sutton, "Do you often keep in touch with Nolan Hawke?"
"No, just a few times when taking photos, but not since then."
"Okay. If he ever contacts you again, whether for work or personal reasons, let me know. I’ll go with you."
Audrey Sutton nodded thoughtfully.
She wanted to ask if Shane Warner also found Nolan Hawke a bit peculiar.
But she realized if she asked, he would surely sense something had happened between her and Nolan Hawke.
The incident by the sink was strange, but it felt more like a misunderstanding on her part, so she couldn’t definitively say there was something wrong with Nolan Hawke.
The rain was coming down harder on the way, and the wind was fierce, blowing the branches of the roadside trees to one side.
Two flashes of white light streaked across the sky, followed by thunderous claps.
Watching the sudden change in weather, Audrey Sutton quietly said, "I’m going to sleep with you tonight."
Shane Warner glanced at her, silent for two seconds, and replied softly, "Move in."
Audrey Sutton turned to look at him, unsure if he was joking, but she was serious about it. "You move my stuff then."
"Make sure you’re certain."
"What’s there to consider? I’m going to sleep with you from now on!"
Shane Warner curled his lips into a mischievous smile. "Alright."
After returning, Audrey Sutton began moving her toiletries and bedding into his room. She only brought over some daily items, since it was quite late and she didn’t move much.
After taking a shower in her own room, she snuck into his room where Shane Warner was already lying in bed.
Audrey Sutton smiled at him, ran to the bedside, lifted the quilt, and snuggled into his arms, taking away the magazine in his hand. "Stop reading, it’s time to sleep."
Shane Warner placed the magazine on the bedside table, slipped his hand under the blanket, and began tugging her nightgown upwards, a playful lust making a way into his voice. "You’re getting bolder now, aren’t you."
Audrey Sutton pressed down on her skirt, avoiding his warm hand, and chided, "Can’t you just sleep properly?"
"You’ve thrown yourself into my arms, and you want me to sleep properly?"
Audrey Sutton hugged his arm to prevent him from getting handsy. "We’ll have plenty of time together in the future, why act like you’ve never seen a woman before?"
"If I just hold you and do nothing else, wouldn’t that waste the antler broth you made for me?"
Audrey Sutton glared at him indignantly. "I said it was my mom’s recipe, and antler has many uses. I didn’t make it to boost your... strength."
She mumbled at the end, "If anything, I’m the one who needs it. You don’t rest a night and still have so much energy."
Her soft body was nestled in his embrace, and even through the thin nightwear, he could feel her warmth. To do nothing felt like a loss. However, considering how late it was, and knowing she had class in the morning, Shane Warner reluctantly decided not to tire her out too much that night.
He reached up, turned off the bedside lamp, adjusted the blanket, moved her head onto his arm, and wrapped her waist gently, saying, "Sleep."
Audrey Sutton smiled contentedly, closed her eyes, and cuddled up to him, resting her foot on him.
Outside, the storm raged with lightning frequently illuminating the room and the sound of rolling thunder.
The wind howled, shaking the windows.
On any other night, such a storm would be unnerving, but Audrey Sutton slept particularly well.
But come Monday, Shane Warner went out of town. He went to the airport after having lunch with Audrey Sutton.
With thunderstorms forecasted, Shane Warner worried about Audrey Sutton being frightened alone at home. He sent General and Pea to stay with her fourth brother and had her stay at the dormitory for a few days.
The weather was gloomy and rainy, with the roads barely drying before the rain started again.
With Shane Warner away, Audrey Sutton spent most of her time outside of classes in the studio, working on the character designs for her new comic.
Her current comic was nearing completion, and she was preparing for a new one. After discussing ideas with Laura Yates, she decided to adapt her story with Shane Warner into a comic, with minor modifications.
Right now, she wasn’t thinking too much about the future; she didn’t know if there would be changes in her relationship with Shane Warner. However, she felt that the time spent with him was worth chronicling in this way.
