Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 290: She Doesn’t Want to Die
Flora returned to the table and immediately started talking to Audrey Sutton about running into Clarissa Morgan in the bathroom earlier: "Audrey, I don’t know if what she said was about you, but I think you should be careful lately. I didn’t get the full story and don’t know what she’s up to. Just have your husband accompany you when you go out and don’t wander outside alone."
Audrey Sutton nodded. She didn’t feel Flora was overreacting because when it comes to matters involving Clarissa Morgan, she tends to overthink herself.
However, ever since the kidnapping incident, Audrey Sutton has been cautious, even if Shane Warner doesn’t have time to accompany her, she patiently waits for the driver he arranges for her.
With the enemy in the dark and her in the light, Audrey has no direct evidence to accuse Clarissa Morgan of plotting against her. She has no idea what Clarissa is planning; all she can do is ensure there are no loopholes for Clarissa to exploit.
Audrey Sutton is someone who fears for her life. She’s still young, newly married, and with her beloved, she’s finally just starting her life together without even having children yet. She’s hoping to stroll down the street with Shane Warner when she’s seventy or eighty; she can’t just die at the hands of some villain.
"Oh, and there’s one more thing." Flora held up her glass and took a sip, looking ready to chat: "I just ran into that luxury car owner again!" 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Audrey Sutton thought, since Luc was already here, it was not surprising to run into him. She smiled apologetically at Flora and said: "He came with my husband, sorry Flora, I forgot to tell you."
Flora said: "I chatted with him a bit, he seemed very polite, didn’t blame me at all, even asked if I was okay. He wasn’t concerned at all about me perhaps bluffing him."
Barry Barrett joked: "You’re silly, you should have said you had something wrong, maybe you could have gotten some money out of him."
Seraphina Vaughn said: "Didn’t Audrey once say he’s quite a flirt? Maybe he’s trying to hit on you."
Flora slapped her thigh: "I initially thought the same, but the weird thing is, he doesn’t seem interested in flirting with me at all. He doesn’t seem like the sleazy type."
Audrey Sutton glanced at Morgan Quinn dancing closely in the dance floor with a blonde girl in a short dress and asked Flora: "Weren’t you going to the bathroom? How did you run into him then?"
"I met him on my way out of the bathroom, when I was discreetly observing Clarissa, he suddenly tapped me on the shoulder, scared me half to death."
Audrey Sutton frowned in confusion, thinking that when Flora went to the restroom, she saw Morgan Quinn dancing on the dance floor. Maybe she missed when he went to the restroom?
"Is it me lacking charm? Why doesn’t a flirt like him have any intention to hit on me?" Flora pondered, drinking from her glass, puzzled and troubled.
Audrey Sutton laughed: "Isn’t it better when these bad romances don’t come your way?"
"It’s not about whether he hits on me, it’s whether I let him. Him trying to flirt means I still have some charm; if I find out he’s a jerk, I can just turn him down. But he didn’t even have the thought, when I used to go to bars, it was a regular thing to leave with twenty contacts overnight. What’s happened to me now?"
Seraphina Vaughn teased: "You’ve aged, played enough, time to settle down with someone proper."
"Get lost, I’m only twenty-two, not old!"
"Barely twenty-one, and kids are already calling you aunty."
"What nonsense aunty, I’m their sister!"
Audrey Sutton smirked and said: "I’m a sister too."
"Who are you a sister to?" A man’s voice sounded, making the girls laughing glance towards the source. Shane Warner gently tapped Audrey Sutton on the head and said: "Time to go, back home now."
"Didn’t you say around eleven?"
"It’s windy outside, and it’s going to rain, better head home early."
Seraphina Vaughn led the way: "Let’s go, let’s go, gotta collect the clothes in the dorm."
Flora: "Alright, alright, I’ll go pay the bill first."
Shane Warner casually adjusted Audrey Sutton’s sleeve and said flatly: "I’ve already settled it."
Flora hurriedly said: "Huh? That’s awkward, but I thought I was treating today." She said it politely, but she was grinning from ear to ear, "Thanks, brother-in-law! If you and Audrey ever argue, we’ve all got your back."
Audrey Sutton rolled her eyes at Flora: "Have some integrity, okay? You get bought off with just one drink bill?"
Outside the bar, after her three dormmates left by taxi, raindrops started pouring down.
The car was within sight, but being outdoors, it was inevitable to get wet.
Shane Warner casually draped the coat from his arm over Audrey Sutton’s shoulders and said: "I’ll go get the car, you wait here."
Audrey Sutton: "Why don’t I borrow an umbrella from my fourth brother?"
Shane Warner evidently found it troublesome, and before Audrey could finish speaking, he was already heading towards where the car was parked.
Audrey Sutton thought, with his strong physique, getting wet shouldn’t be an issue.
Besides, even if she asked him to come back at this point, he wouldn’t listen.
Standing under the eaves, Audrey Sutton kept her eyes fixed on Shane Warner.
There’s such happiness in having someone shield you from wind and rain. Looking at Shane Warner, her eyes couldn’t help but show a smile.
"Dingdong——"
The phone in her bag rang. Audrey Sutton looked down and took out her phone, checking the message from Seraphina Vaughn: Audrey, you haven’t left yet, right? I left my power bank; it might have fallen into the sofa crevice, go help me find it.
Upon hearing this, Audrey Sutton saw Shane Warner getting into the car, as the headlights turned on, ready to drive over.
Audrey Sutton took out her phone while sending a voice message to Shane Warner, informing him she had to go back briefly, as she headed inside the bar.
Returning to the spot they were sitting earlier, the staff was already clearing the table.
The experienced staff member recognized her as the owner’s sister and asked warmly: "Miss, did you lose something?"
"My friend’s power bank, I’ll look for it myself, you carry on."
Where Seraphina Vaughn was sitting earlier was near the sofa, Audrey Sutton angled in and slightly moved the sofa, spotting the white power bank in the crevice.
"Miss Sutton? Didn’t Bear and the others leave? Why are you still here?"
Upon hearing Nolan Hawke’s voice, Audrey Sutton quickly stood up and turned around, shaking the power bank in her hand, offering a dry smile and explaining: "My friend left something behind."
Nolan Hawke, always with a gentle smile: "Hmm, it’s raining quite heavily outside, does Young Master Warner have time? Do you need me to give you a ride home?"
