Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 281: I Love You
After hearing Shane’s question, Audrey Sutton didn’t tell him how to cling but instead sat up in the bathtub, turned around, and faced Shane.
Her hand rested on the edge of the bathtub, half-supporting her body as she looked at him.
Now she felt like she was more like a siren who enchants people.
Her hair, freshly rinsed, clung wet against her shoulders and back, the towel she was stepping on had soaked in the water for a long time and had become a bit loose, and her body was faintly covered with bubbles and water stains from the bathtub, her dark eyes staring intently at him...
He felt that she was deliberately seducing him.
Even though a hot flame rose from the bottom of his heart, Shane resisted what he wanted to do at the moment, and looking at her staring at him without moving, which was a bit unusual, he softly asked, "What’s wrong?"
His voice seemed to disturb her thoughts, her dark eyes half-lowered, and after half a second, she lifted her gaze again.
Her eyes were so clear, yet the expression on her whole face was somewhat unfathomable, she asked, "... Will we get divorced?"
Shane was stunned for a moment, reached out to gently wipe the white foam accidentally stuck on one side of her chin, and softly asked her, "Why are you asking this?"
Audrey Sutton smiled and shook her head, "I don’t know, it just feels like people change too easily, I’m always afraid that when I open my eyes tomorrow, you won’t be mine anymore."
"You used to not be so sentimental all day long." Water from her hair gathered into drops, sliding down her cheek, Shane lowered his head, picked up a clean towel from beside him, and while helping her wipe the water off her face, he said, "Have you been watching some tragic TV drama recently?"
Audrey Sutton didn’t answer him. Out of the corner of his eye, Shane saw a small hand reaching for his shirt collar, and when he looked down, her hand had already fallen onto one of the buttons on his shirt, deftly slipping it through the buttonhole.
With a slight force, she pulled out the shirt hem tucked into his pants, one button after another, until they were all undone.
Shane chuckled lightly, "Do you really want to bathe together?"
She smiled at him without answering, but her hands continued to peel the shirt off his body, which was Shane’s confirmation.
The water in the bathtub had cooled a bit, and Shane turned on the faucet, letting warm water flow.
Gradually filling the bathtub, the water overflowed the tub, the water in the tub flowed down with the bubbles to the white floor.
The steam gradually blurred the view through the window near the bathtub, low gasps blended with the gentle lapping of water, turning the ink-blue night outside the window into something enchanting.
He was more tender than ever before, and she was more proactive than any time in the past.
Her inexperienced initiative made Shane cherish the girl in his arms even more.
He was wondering if his failure to express his love for her explicitly made her become so insecure after giving her all.
But he thought she was just being silly. Except for not saying he loved her outright, he’d already shown his love for her in every other way.
Audrey Sutton didn’t know what was wrong with herself, perhaps she felt she had given her all in love and yet still didn’t move him, she felt that she had put all her chips on the table, and if he remained unmoved, she had nothing left to win his affection.
On the soft, warm bed, she leaned tiredly against his chest, always telling herself not to think too much about the future and just enjoy the moment with him.
But the more she thought this way, the more afraid she was of losing it in the future.
She was very greedy; once she had tasted sweetness, she wanted more.
"... Shall we have a baby?"
Just when Shane thought she had fallen asleep in his arms, her low voice suddenly sounded in his ear.
If it weren’t the words about "having a baby," he might have thought she was talking in her sleep.
Shane opened his eyes, tightening his arms around her from behind a bit more, "You have more than a year until graduation, let’s talk about the baby after you graduate."
She was silent for two seconds, placing her hand on the back of his hand, her fingers gently caressing his skin, murmuring, "A year is too long; I don’t want to wait."
Shane turned his hand to encompass her small hand in his palm, "A year is long? Aren’t you going to spend a lifetime with me?"
It seemed that some words had touched a soft spot in Audrey Sutton’s heart, her nose tingled, and her eyes turned red, even though she tried very hard to control her voice, there was still a detectable sob in it, "... Can we really be together forever?"
"Jewels are buried in the ground and won’t go anywhere as long as the miner is willing to dig."
This answer seemed to settle Audrey Sutton’s heart a bit; she sniffed, turned around in his arms, her eyes slightly red, and with a bit of a spoiled tone, she asked him, "What if another miner digs it up?"
Shane laughed, using his hand to brush her nose lightly, "That’s why you need to dig quicker."
She pouted and said, "I’m not a miner. I’m a gem too. I’m waiting for someone to come to dig me up!"
"Then you’d better bury yourself a little deeper, so I don’t dig you up with just two shovels."
Audrey Sutton huffed, pulled the quilt higher, and turned her back to him, "I don’t want you to dig me up!"
Shane tickled her armpit in mock punishment, "Then who do you want to dig you up?"
Audrey Sutton was forced to laugh, constantly dodging, and after horsing around for a while, her mood seemed to recover, holding onto his hand, doodling childishly in his palm.
Shane originally thought she was trying to convey something to him in some secretive way, but after a while, he realized she was indeed just drawing circles aimlessly.
Letting her doodle quietly for a while, after some time, he noticed the little hand causing mischief in his palm had stopped. He slightly propped himself up to glance at her, confirming she had fallen asleep.
He moved her body, which had sunk too low, back up, letting her head rest on the pillow, reaching back to turn off the lamp on the bedside table, the moonlight seeping in through the window becoming the only light in the room.
Using the dim light, Shane looked at her sleeping face, gently tucking the loose strand of hair behind her ear, and cautiously lowered his lips onto her brow.
In the silent night, he spoke to her sleeping form, his voice low and raspy, "I love you."
Her emotions always came quickly and went just as fast. At night, she seemed more prone to thinking about all sorts of things, but by morning she seemed to have transformed into a carefree little elf.
Perhaps she had a good sleep last night; when she woke up in the morning, she seemed to be in a good mood.
Standing by the bathroom sink brushing his teeth, Shane watched as she squeezed in beside him, grabbing her own toothbrush, squeezing out some toothpaste, smiling at him in the mirror, and then started brushing her teeth.
As she brushed her teeth, she kept staring at him in the mirror, her clinginess seemed to have increased by several degrees compared to before, and she didn’t hold back her feelings at all. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Almost as if she were afraid he wouldn’t know she really liked him.
