Chapter 248: Chapter 248: Clarissa Morgan’s Leverage

The lights in the castle dimmed, and a multi-layered cake styled as a princess gown was pushed out.

As the main character of the night, Clarissa Morgan wore a birthday crown, truly looking like a beautiful princess.

The pianist on the side played the tune of the birthday song, and someone in the crowd led with a line, and everyone started singing along.

Audrey Sutton turned her head to glance at Shane Warner beside her, and noticing her gaze, Shane also lowered his head. Their eyes met, and neither turned away as he softly asked her, "What’s wrong?"

Audrey smiled softly, shook her head, and then turned her gaze back to the stage.

Clarissa clasped her hands together and made a wish in front of the cake, blowing out the candles amid applause and cheers.

The Clarissa before their eyes was exceedingly beautiful. Putting aside her character, her looks and temperament alone could likely make any man fall for her.

No wonder Quentin Sterling cherished her so much after marrying her.

Watching Clarissa on stage, smiling radiantly, Audrey suddenly asked, "She’s so pretty, why didn’t you agree to her when she was pursuing you?"

Shane turned his head slightly, looking down at her, thinking to himself that she didn’t realize she was much more beautiful than Clarissa, yet she looked at Clarissa with such envious eyes.

Could it be that his usual teasing had left her with no self-confidence?

With a half-smile, Shane countered with a question instead of answering, "Would you have wanted me to agree to her?"

"Of course not," Audrey replied without a second thought, "but I’m really curious. I think a girl like Clarissa, chasing any man, probably wouldn’t fail."

Shane chuckled lightly, saying, "Do you want to know why I didn’t agree to her?"

Audrey nodded her head like a pecking chick, to which Shane laughed and said, "Because I like ugly ones."

Audrey was momentarily stunned, knowing he was joking, and muttered, "No wonder you don’t like me."

Unable to resist, Shane pinched her cheek, watching her frown and glare at him, looking ever so adorable.

Since Audrey had school the next day, Shane wanted her to go home and sleep early, so they left right after the birthday ceremony ended.

Clarissa, holding Quentin Sterling’s arm, smiled as she saw Shane and Audrey off into their car. As the car drove away, her smile gradually disappeared as she gazed in the direction it left with a hint of cruelty in her eyes.

Quentin wrapped his arm around Clarissa’s shoulder, gently saying to her, "Let’s go. It’s cold outside, don’t catch a cold."

Clarissa gathered her thoughts, looked up at Quentin, and nodded with a smile, "Yeah, by the way, I think I left my bag upstairs in the lounge. Can you go and find it for me?"

Without a trace of suspicion or complaint, Quentin nodded immediately, "Alright."

They returned inside the castle, and Quentin went upstairs to fetch Clarissa’s bag.

After Quentin left, Clarissa looked toward Simon Sue, who was chatting with a few male celebrities on the other side.

She stared at Simon for a few seconds before he finally raised his head and met her gaze.

Clarissa subtly indicated a direction with her chin and then turned to walk that way.

Standing in the deserted back hall for half a minute, Simon finally followed her.

Clarissa’s face showed a hint of displeasure, and before Simon could even get close, she questioned him, "What about the thing I asked you to do?"

Simon, with a nonchalant demeanor, replied cheekily, "You saw it too, her husband was with her every step of the way, what could I do?"

Clarissa: "That’s for you to figure out. Don’t forget you have dirt on you in my hand, you shouldn’t face me with this attitude."

Simon chuckled and stepped closer to Clarissa, "So what attitude does Miss Morgan expect from me?"

Clarissa furrowed her brow; Simon’s actions were unexpected.

She had thought, clutching Simon’s fatal "scandal", she could control him tightly.

"Don’t think I won’t dare to release those pictures. If you don’t follow my arrangements next time, I guarantee you’ll fall hard from your current high place!"

Simon, unfazed, laughed and moved even closer, cornering Clarissa against a wall. Supporting himself with one hand on the wall, he looked down at the perplexed and angry Clarissa and laughed, "I might be compromised by you, but do you think I have no way to deal with you?"

Clarissa, unhappily locking her brow, neither pushed Simon away nor avoided him.

Simon reached out to lift her chin, drawing his face a bit closer, his posture ambiguous, and he laughed, "I really underestimated Miss Morgan before, you’ve got quite a few tricks up your sleeve, enjoying your husband’s pampering while plotting to break up someone else’s marriage to steal their husband, huh, don’t you think you have no dirt in my hands?"

Clarissa’s heart faltered at his words, though not because of the things she’s done, but out of fear that Simon really had some dirt on her.

She asked, "What dirt could I possibly have?"

Simon curled his lips into a devilish grin, slightly exerting force with the hand lifting her chin, tilting her head up a bit unexpectedly, he kissed her forehead.

Clarissa’s mind raced to understand what happened, and she hastened to push him away.

But it seemed everything was already too late. Simon lifted the back of his hand to wipe his mouth with a hint of disdain, but his face broadened into a gleeful smile as he said to Clarissa, "Now I have it."

Just as he finished speaking, Simon’s assistant emerged from somewhere, holding a Polaroid camera and a stack of recently taken photos, saying to Simon, "Got it all on camera, but you better not tell brother or he’ll definitely scold me for not keeping an eye on you and letting you mess around."

"Got it," Simon brushed it off, reaching for the photos, from the two of them arriving in the back hall to Simon cornering Clarissa, the most prominent one was of him kissing her forehead.

Although the scene itself made him gag a little, seeing Clarissa’s face turn more and more unsightly made him feel slightly better.

Simon laid the photos in front of her and said with a laugh, "The summary could be: ’Jade tycoon’s wife cheats, The Ballet Queen entangles with a popular idol,’ which title does Miss Morgan find more pleasing?"

Clarissa was so furious she couldn’t speak.

Simon put the photos away, handed them back to his assistant, and instructed, "Scan these when we get back and keep them safe." 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

"...Alright."

Simon turned back to Clarissa, laughingly saying, "Miss Morgan’s ’elaborately’ planned drama is now utterly unplayable, what a pity."

After calming down, Clarissa’s face gradually masked her anger, turning instead to Simon, "Simon, why are you doing this? Don’t you like Audrey Sutton? If she divorces Shane, it would be beneficial to you as well, so you could completely stand with me because we have the same goal, don’t we?"
