Chapter 214: Chapter 214: You’re Not Gentle at All

Audrey Sutton heard Shane Warner’s words and didn’t immediately snuggle into his arms. Instead, she blinked and looked at him, saying, "But you haven’t agreed to date me yet."

"Do you want to go and open a new room then?" Shane replied with irritation, "You’re the one pursuing me now, waiting for me to make the first move?"

Upon hearing this, Audrey Sutton set aside the last bit of her reserve and moved closer to him, but didn’t dare to be too forward, stopping when she barely brushed his arm.

She clutched the blanket, blinking while not daring to turn her head to look at him less than ten centimeters away.

Her sleeping posture was still pretty well-behaved at this moment.

Shane Warner glanced down at her. She was lying on her side, her back to him, the blanket pulled high, and from his angle, he could only see her curly locks.

He still felt quite sympathetic towards her. He hadn’t expected her to come looking for him from so far away, and earlier, when she was so aggrieved in front of him, he inadvertently pushed her to voice the words she’d been holding inside.

He knew she liked him long ago, but couldn’t figure out whether it was before or after marriage.

Listening to her earlier words clarified it; her replacing the bride wasn’t by chance. Despite her family’s opposition, she insisted on marrying him simply because she’d liked him even then.

This young girl’s mind really isn’t as simple as it seems on the surface.

"Are you asleep?" Suddenly, her soft voice asked by his ear.

Shane Warner didn’t reply, just opened his eyes and glanced at her, "Can’t sleep?"

Audrey Sutton grinned at him and turned to face him, "I just remembered something."

"Hm?"

"That figure you were supposed to win for me, did you get it?"

Shane Warner answered without thinking, "Forgot all about it."

"Ha, another lie," Audrey Sutton looked straight into his eyes, "Brother Mor already told me, you even called Brother Xavier and the others to fight for it, but none of you got it. You spent the whole day out, didn’t you, just to buy me that figure?"

Shane Warner: "And you believe him?"

Audrey Sutton answered without hesitation, "I can’t trust your words at all! You’re always lying."

Suddenly, Shane Warner sat up, lifting the blanket slightly. Audrey Sutton looked on confused, thinking he was going to get up and fetch the figure for her, but instead, he headed straight towards the bathroom.

Realizing she misunderstood, Audrey Sutton asked toward his back, "Did you manage to buy it after roaming all day?"

"Who has the mind to wander around for your things?" he replied, closing the bathroom door with a bang.

Audrey Sutton didn’t believe his words. She got out of bed, turned on the room light, and sat, scanning the room, her gaze zeroing in on a suspicious box on the coffee table.

She immediately got out of bed, walked over quietly, opened the box, and found inside the exact figure she wanted.

She covered her mouth while giggling, hurriedly closed the box again, and slipped back under the blanket.

During the shuffle, the hairclip at her collar came loose, and her robe nearly slid off her arm. Audrey Sutton adjusted her clothes, turning her head to look at the bathroom door.

Shane’s silhouette was reflected on the door, yet being far from the door, the shadow wasn’t very clear, just a blur.

She didn’t know what he was doing inside.

Audrey Sutton didn’t know why, but suddenly felt a rush of heat, throwing a purple nightgown from under the blanket. It landed beside the bed.

Whether the fabric was too slippery, it slowly slid to the ground.

As the nightgown fell, Audrey Sutton heard footsteps from the bathroom.

Her heart started racing, wrapping the blanket tightly around herself, leaving only half her head outside watching Shane Warner emerge from the toilet.

Shane Warner approached the bed, seeing Audrey Sutton wrapped entirely in the blanket, and lightly frowned, asking, "Are you cold?"

Audrey Sutton shook her head.

"Then are you trying to freeze me by taking all the blanket?"

Audrey Sutton blinked, pursed her lips, showing a cheeky smile that carried half embarrassment, seductively teasing the man before her, "...I’m not wearing anything."

Shane Warner: "..."

"...Not wearing anything at all."

Shane Warner turned off the overhead light with a snap, and the dim lamp at the bedside took on a slightly amorous glow.

In the faint light, he reached to lift the blanket, seeing her curl up into a little shrimp, indeed as she said—wearing nothing.

"Seems like you don’t plan to sleep tonight."

Perhaps because she had initiated the flirtation, Audrey Sutton felt his approach was aggressive.

Holding lips bitten into a metallic taste, Audrey Sutton felt he was not gentle at all.

Previously too drunk to recall the experience, Audrey curiosity had lingered in her mind.

But now she realized, being fully aware was the harshest.

Under his rough movement, Audrey’s mind kept asking, whether he loved her at all, if doing these things was merely a man’s instinctual reaction to temptation.

Because he wasn’t gentle at all, Audrey felt if he loved her, he would be very cautious.

"Why are you crying?" Noticing tears on her face, Shane Warner paused his actions, slightly frowning. Though perplexed by her sudden tears, he felt a pang of hurt watching her cry.

She merely looked at him, eyes misty with grievance.

"Does it hurt too much?" He raised a hand to wipe at her tears.

She accused him through sobs, "You’re not gentle at all."

Shane Warner: "..."

Amused and exasperated.

He used to think her mind was easy to read, emotions displayed on her face, but he now realized a young girl’s emotional change is a mystery to him.

Despite her getting herself into it, looking at her pitifully aggrieved face now, it seems like he bullied her.

But post her accusations, Shane Warner slightly withheld his strength.

...

By the time Shane Warner placed Audrey Sutton in the bathtub, it was unclear what time of night it was.

Limp as she lay in the tub, feeling like she’d rolled down a hill, aching all over.

Regretful now, she regretted playing with fire.

Unaware that tonight they’d have this "accident," she’d booked her plane ticket for early. Audrey felt she barely slept a moment before he woke her up.

Drowsiness overtaking her on the way, in the airport lounge, Audrey sat in the massage chair, somewhat dazed, drifting off when she heard Shane Warner’s voice nearby, "...I just checked online. Timing counts this period as your conception time."
