Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 215: If You’re Pregnant, You’re Pregnant
Audrey Sutton suddenly woke up, completely awake: "What should I do now? Is it too late to take medicine?"
As she spoke, her gaze swept around, as if she was looking for a shop nearby that sold medicine.
Shane coldly glanced at her: "Are you so eager to take medicine?"
"What if I get pregnant without taking medicine?" Her expression and words clearly showed her inner panic.
Shane chuckled lightly, speaking slowly: "Shouldn’t you be eager to have my child? Then, even if you don’t do well and can’t win me over, you can use the child to threaten me."
Audrey rolled her eyes at him: "You’re just talking without understanding! Why would I have a child with you if you don’t even like me? Besides, I’m still in school. What if I really get pregnant?"
Shane: "Pay tuition for one person, go to school for two. Isn’t that a bonus?"
Audrey muttered as she stood up: "No way, I need to find a pharmacy."
Shane frowned, reached out to pull her back: "Forget the medicine, if it happens, it happens."
"You’re not the one giving birth, of course you’d say that." Audrey looked very troubled and conflicted. Hearing the boarding announcement, she took a deep breath, picked up her bag, walked forward a few steps, then turned back to mutter and curse at Shane: "Scumbag."
Shane just laughed, following her towards the boarding gate.
Shortly after takeoff, Audrey fell asleep.
Shane knew she hadn’t slept well the night before, gently draped a thin blanket over her and carefully moved her head resting against the window onto his shoulder.
Audrey opened her eyes to glance at him, feeling too tired, she snuggled closer, grabbing the blanket over her and closed her eyes again.
The flight time was the same, but when Audrey traveled alone before it felt like ages until they landed, yet with him beside her, it seemed the plane landed before she was fully awake.
Once they got off the plane, her mom called urging them to come for lunch. Shane planned to drop his luggage off before going to The Suttons, but Audrey insisted on changing into new clothes for the holiday.
He thought she just meant a quick change, but ended up waiting over an hour downstairs. When he went up, she was still doing her makeup in front of the mirror.
"How much longer?" Shane coldly asked from the doorway.
Audrey turned to look at him, smiled: "Just a bit!"
Then she picked out three lipsticks from the box and asked him: "Which color do you think looks best?"
Shane walked over, glanced at the three opened lipsticks, and after two seconds, pointed to the one in the middle: "This one."
Audrey immediately took his advice and picked the middle one, "I thought men all see lipstick as just red and hardly notice the difference!"
Shane didn’t respond, indeed feeling all the lipsticks she showed him looked pretty much the same. He picked one randomly, fearing if he said "anything works," she’d spend even longer deciding.
As noon approached, Hazel Yates called to urge them again, and only then did the two finally get out the door.
Sitting in the car, Audrey kept adjusting the barrette on her head in the mirror, seemingly satisfied with her two-hour-long preparation, happily humming along with the car’s music.
When they got out, she complained to him: "My back hurts."
"Want me to rub it?"
Audrey glanced at him, pushed open the car door and ran off.
Afraid his "rubbing" would only make it worse.
"Did you sleep in again? Everyone’s waiting for you two, hurry up and wash your hands for lunch." Hazel Yates called from the door.
Audrey jogged over, affectionately taking her mom’s arm, and said cutely: "I’m starving."
"Starving but took forever to get here!"
"Hehe."
At the table, Audrey sat beside Shane.
He hadn’t been around for a few days, and today he seemed to become the focal point of the family.
Both her parents and grandparents seemed to particularly like him, appearing more delighted to see him than her.
Grandpa said: "Sam said you’re pretty good at chess, play a few rounds with this old man this afternoon."
Before Shane could respond, Grandma said: "He’s surely planning to spend the afternoon dating Audrey, you old man can’t see the obvious."
Audrey laughed: "Grandma, we’re not going out this afternoon, he’ll play chess with Grandpa, and I’ll play mahjong with you."
Hazel Yates interjected: "By the way, Shane, I called your parents to come for dinner tonight."
Shane nodded smilingly: "Thanks for the trouble, Mom."
"We’re all family, no need for ’thanks’ or ’trouble,’ it’s just these couple of days we gather once a year. Your dad was worried, thinking your family might celebrate New Year and was afraid Audrey would end up going with you."
Sam glared at Hazel Yates: "Who’s been saying all along how it wouldn’t feel right without Audrey during New Year."
Norman Sutton: "Right, so what I think, Dad and Mom listen to me, daughters can’t be relied on, daughters married away are like water spilled, better I find a daughter-in-law for you to stick to."
Samuel Sutton: "I’d rather spill you away, even potatoes are more reliable."
Stephen: "Dad, it’s called ’potato’."
Potato’s Stephen’s cat.
Grandma: "Our Norman is quite good."
Norman Sutton: "Exactly! Grandma is the best!"
Hazel Yates changed the subject, looking at Stephen, who had been quiet, trying to stay unnoticed: "Right, Stephen, is Summer coming back soon?"
Stephen paused in his action of picking up food, looked at Hazel Yates, clearly not wanting to talk about it.
Hazel Yates: "Didn’t you two add each other on WhatsApp last time? How’s the chatting going? Did you schedule a meeting?"
Stephen replied softly: "She said she’s coming back tomorrow."
Hearing Stephen’s answer, showing contact between him and the girl privately, Hazel Yates sighed in relief: "If it seems right, solidify your relationship. I’ve met Summer a few times as a child, very cultured and nice, her parents are familiar too, don’t let a good girl slip away."
Stephen merely responded with an "mm," clearly dismissing his mom’s repeated nagging.
Audrey, nibbling on her chicken wing, pondered that Phoebe King had been quiet recently, maybe Shane was right?
Initially, she hoped Phoebe King might become her sister-in-law.
However, Phoebe King and her brother’s personalities were total opposites, being together might require a lot of adjusting.
She secretly glanced at Shane beside her, sighed internally.
Better not meddle in others’ affairs, her own feelings were still uncertain.
