Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 127: Pretty Boy
Shane didn’t answer immediately. He did seven or eight more push-ups, stopping only after reaching his preset number.
He stood up, looked at Audrey Sutton, and asked in return, "What’s up?"
Audrey pursed her lips and replied, "You seem unhappy."
Shane chuckled lightly and turned to walk toward the treadmill. While adjusting it, he said, "No."
He said no, but Audrey could sense his unusual demeanor.
He stepped onto the treadmill and started running. She remembered he had told her not to talk while running, so she didn’t disturb him now.
She adjusted the elliptical machine herself and started exercising.
She looked deeply preoccupied.
After ten minutes, she was too exhausted to continue, reluctantly stopping. She glanced at Shane, hesitating until she heard him say, "Go rest early."
"...What about you?"
"I’ll run a little longer."
His tone now much gentler, Audrey hesitated, got up, and walked away. Standing at the door, she turned back and said to Shane, "You should sleep early too."
The next day, everything seemed calm. After breakfast, Shane, as usual, drove her to school.
As soon as Audrey got out of the car, Shane drove off.
He suddenly stopped nagging, and Audrey found it a bit unfamiliar.
Watching his car drive away, Audrey sighed lightly.
She wondered who on earth had upset this godlike man.
"After class, come find me in the art section of the library."
A shadow passed by Audrey, leaving these words.
Audrey watched the shadow walking away. She waved the paper bag containing the scarf toward Simon Sue’s back, wishing she could just throw it at him.
She had intended to return the annoying scarf to Simon. However, given their unique statuses, she didn’t dare openly meet with him.
Lest tomorrow the newspapers publish something like "Third Young Master’s Wife Secretly Meets Popular Idol".
Even though Simon hadn’t walked far, she dared not call to him amidst the bustling campus.
After the morning class, Audrey used the excuse of returning books to the library to successfully slip away from her dorm mates, heading to the library alone.
She was all too familiar with the art book section, browsing the numerous shelves, only to find someone waving at her from a dimly lit corridor.
She didn’t even have to see him clearly to know who it was.
Simon feared being seen by fans, and Audrey feared it even more.
After ensuring no one else was around, she cautiously approached.
Her caution stemmed from the fear that this was a trap set by Simon, worried he’d deliberately have someone snap incriminating photos from the shadows.
Few people use the stairs, almost none.
Audrey frantically shoved the bag into his hands, lowering her voice in a warning tone, "Don’t ever come to me again! And stop doing these inexplicable things!"
Simon glanced at the bag in his hands, initially thinking it was a gift from her.
Disappointed, he stuffed the scarf back into the bag, looking down at Audrey with an amused smile, "Not interested in something exciting?"
Before Simon could finish, Audrey said, "No! Don’t bother me again or I’ll... I’ll expose you!"
Simon chuckled, his expression clearly dismissive of Audrey’s threat to "expose". He added, "Expose me for what? Harassing a virtuous woman or seducing a married one?"
"You know well enough. You rely on your public image, so don’t mess up your own livelihood."
"Miss Sutton, you may have misunderstood." Simon leaned slightly forward, looking down at Audrey, saying, "I’ve been scandal-free since my debut two years ago. You’re aware of public personas, and in everyone’s eyes, I just happen to be a clean, wholesome boy. If we ended up in the papers, do you think people would believe your story? Or accuse you of infidelity?"
Audrey swallowed hard. She was no stranger to such words, having heard them countless times when she and Spencer Forrest made headlines.
If another scandal with Simon erupted, even if she were innocent, she might never clear her name. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Besides, 99% of Simon’s fans were young female admirers, and if this blew up, they’d undoubtedly believe he was innocent and she, the seductress. She’d be drowned in their abusive comments.
Realizing this, she chickened out, turning to leave, thinking she’d rather avoid trouble than confront it.
Simon, however, grabbed her wrist, pulling her back and easily pinning her against the wall as they switched positions.
The cold tiles pressed against Audrey’s back, with Simon just a few centimeters away in front.
Trapped in this "kabedon", Audrey didn’t feel romance or excitement, only dread — she couldn’t let anyone see them.
While others might blush and have racing hearts, Audrey’s first instinct was to squat and escape from under Simon’s arm.
But as she moved down, Simon matched the action, finally exasperated, whispering angrily, "What do you want?!"
Simon smiled, "I want to have an affair with you."
"Get lost!" Audrey tried to kick him, but Simon preemptively pinned her leg with his.
Unable to dodge or land a hit, Audrey had nowhere to vent her pent-up frustration.
Simon said, "We could keep this a secret, I don’t tell your husband, you don’t tell my fans, and no one would know."
Audrey couldn’t tell if he was serious or joking. She scoffed, looking up at him, "Why would you think I’d fancy you? Risking so much to cheat with someone who’s nothing but a pretty face? Are you foolish, or am I?"
Simon still smiled, "Didn’t expect you’d admit I have some looks."
Audrey pinched her little finger, full of disdain, "Just a tiny bit! Compared to my husband, you’re lacking! He’s taller, more handsome, capable, earns more, and—he! Is! My! Husband! Understand ’husband’? Legally binding! So back off!"
Audrey pushed him away, and Simon withdrew, standing upright, jokingly saying, "I’m not asking you to choose between us. You could have both your husband and me, a win-win deal, really no consideration?"
Audrey couldn’t fathom why Simon was pitching himself so hard, mockingly asking, "A movie earns you millions, right? Or did your agency face some secret crisis, turn destitute? Do you need to latch onto a sugar mommy to survive? Planning to use my husband’s money to support you?"
