Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 101: Am I More Important, or Is the Game?
The sales clerk, though not as enthusiastic as before, still politely smiled and took out the watch Audrey Sutton pointed at, introducing it: "This is a new model released this month. The design is impeccable, and the movement is a newly developed one. It’s considered one of the best on the market, available in both black and white dials."
Audrey Sutton really liked this model, but it cost two hundred and fifty thousand.
Compared to the one Clarissa Morgan bought, although the price difference was quite big, it still exceeded her personal savings.
In the end, she had to borrow twenty thousand from Vanessa Sterling.
The money saved from growing sunflowers for years made her fall back to square one.
However, her royalties were about to be paid; now that her comics are earning, making back the two hundred and fifty thousand is just a matter of time.
But thinking about how her savings of several years were suddenly depleted, she still felt the pain.
The money was spent, but in the end, she doesn’t even know if the recipient likes it.
After leaving the store, Audrey Sutton took out her phone and sent messages to her brothers one by one.
She first sent a message saying "Big Brother~" with a cute cat emoji after it.
For the rest of her brothers, she just changed the title, not even bothering to change the emoji.
Her eldest brother replied fastest: Out of money again?
Audrey the Ineffective: Hehe.
Soon, she received a notification of five thousand yuan transferred via WhatsApp.
Eldest Brother: Is this enough?
Audrey the Ineffective: It’s enough, thank you, Big Brother!
Next to reply was her third brother, who didn’t ask anything and simply transferred the money.
Fourth Brother: Ask your husband!
Audrey Sutton immediately sent a pitiful emoji over.
Almost simultaneously with sending the emoji, her fourth brother’s transfer arrived.
Her second brother seemed busy and hadn’t responded.
Her fifth brother transferred money first and then asked: Are you in some kind of trouble again?
Audrey Sutton didn’t hide anything from her fifth brother; she was used to telling him everything: Shane Warner’s birthday is coming up, I got him a gift, and then I ran out of money.
Fifth Brother: Is this enough for you to spend? Have you decided what gift to buy? Want me to go shopping with you?
Audrey the Ineffective: Already got it, thanks, Fifth Brother!
On the other end of the screen, Evan Sutton smirked slightly, but then his gaze dimmed a bit.
He often wished he weren’t just a brother to her, but he was also grateful to be her brother, growing up alongside her, watching her happiness.
Audrey Sutton cheerfully received the funds, as for Six, she didn’t even bother to ask, knowing Norman Sutton is a miser. Asking him for money would be more trouble than growing more sunflowers at home.
Back at school, Audrey Sutton told Flora Lane and the others about Clarissa Morgan buying a gift for Shane Warner.
They all advised her to be cautious, as this woman isn’t simple.
While playing the sweet newlywed wife to Quentin Sterling, she’s still pining after the man she couldn’t have before.
Audrey Sutton didn’t even know who was more pathetic.
She just hoped she wouldn’t end up being the most pitiful one in the end.
"This person swept away by the wind said he didn’t love deeply~," while in the dorm playing some tower-pushing game with Barry Barrett, Audrey Sutton’s phone screen popped with an incoming call from Shane Warner.
Fortunately, the phone didn’t have a popup window interrupting the game; Audrey Sutton answered while manipulating the game character and asked him: "What’s up?"
Shane Warner countered: "What are you busy with?"
"Playing games! Speak quickly!"
Shane Warner: "Am I important or is the game important?"
As soon as he finished speaking, he heard Audrey Sutton shouting excitedly over the phone: "Bear, Bear, save me! There’s someone in the bushes! Ah!... died again."
Shane Warner: "..."
Audrey Sutton complained a bit before continuing to speak to Shane Warner on the phone: "What did you just say?"
Over the phone, Shane Warner’s face turned dark as he succinctly ordered: "Come out for lunch, visit me at the office."
Without waiting for Audrey Sutton’s response, Shane Warner hung up the call.
Audrey Sutton looked at the disconnected call and muttered: "What kind of person is that?"
Barry Barrett chuckled and said: "He just asked whether the game or he is more important."
Audrey Sutton paused: "Really?"
Barry Barrett: "You revived, hurry out to clear the lane! The high ground is gone!"
Audrey Sutton: "Wait for me! I’m almost there!"
The answer seemed obvious, the game was more important.
At noon, Audrey Sutton took a cab to Shane Warner’s company. When she arrived, he was already in the lobby, with Lucian Quinn standing in front of him. They were discussing something.
Shane Warner faced Audrey Sutton’s direction, and she waved to him from the doorway. Seeing him glance at her, Lucian Quinn followed his line of sight and glanced over.
The two spoke a few more words, Lucian Quinn headed toward the company elevator, while Shane Warner paced leisurely with long strides arriving in front of her, glanced at her school uniform and frowned.
It wasn’t that she didn’t look good in her school uniform, but taking her to a restaurant dressed like that, she was either his niece or it looked like an older man was preying on a younger woman.
Audrey Sutton glared at him and muttered: "What do you mean? You called me to have lunch with you, now you’re showing me attitude."
Shane Warner cast a cold glance at her, said nothing, and strode towards the crosswalk.
Audrey Sutton stepped behind him, standing at the sidewalk waiting for the green light.
While crossing the street, Shane Warner glanced back at her, taking her wrist and guiding her across the crosswalk.
He seemed to have chosen a restaurant already, didn’t even ask what she wanted to eat.
Entering a western restaurant, jazz and blues music played softly.
It felt like a couple’s restaurant; the whole atmosphere was particularly intriguing and romantic. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Audrey Sutton chose a corner by the window to sit down. On the table were wine and tall glasses, and the vase held vibrant roses emitting a faint fragrance.
After buying the watch for him, Audrey Sutton had been frequenting the school cafeteria; she wouldn’t come to such a high-end restaurant even in regular times, let alone during an economic crunch.
The thought of steak made her mouth water, as she flipped through the menu she asked Shane Warner: "Can I order two portions?"
Shane Warner: "Order as much as you want, but you must finish it."
He knew her well; when she’s hungry and sees everything, she wants one of everything from the menu, but once she’s eating, she can’t finish much.
Audrey Sutton thought for a moment, ordered one steak, one dessert, and a juice.
Shane Warner ordered a steak, a coffee, and then asked her: "Heard from your third brother you asked him for pocket money a few days ago?"
Audrey Sutton paused her drinking action, looked at him and asked: "You’re close with my third brother? He tells you these things?"
"Why not ask me directly?"
Audrey Sutton was even more surprised, jokingly smiled, asked him: "If I ask you, will you give it?"
"You’ll never know if you don’t ask."
Audrey Sutton immediately put her palm out in front of him, signaling for money.
