Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 100: Wanting to Be with Shane Warner Forever
In the mall, Audrey Sutton looked around at the luxury brand counters.
There were men’s earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and things like that, but Shane Warner wouldn’t use these flashy items.
As for tie clips, he already had a bunch at home.
And clothes, he certainly wasn’t lacking.
Vanessa Sterling suggested, "Why don’t we check out wallets over there? Then you can put your wedding photo inside, it feels meaningful."
Audrey Sutton thought it was a good idea upon hearing it, so the two turned towards a store specializing in men’s wallets. Before they reached the entrance, Audrey Sutton and Vanessa Sterling simultaneously noticed a couple walking towards them.
Audrey Sutton’s first glance was at Clarissa Morgan, while Vanessa Sterling immediately noticed Quentin Sterling.
Quentin Sterling also saw them, walking over hand in hand with Clarissa Morgan.
Vanessa Sterling greeted Quentin Sterling first, "...Uncle."
Then she looked at Clarissa Morgan, somewhat awkwardly addressing her, "...Aunt."
Clarissa Morgan chuckled, "You’re Vanessa, right? Quentin mentioned you, said he thought you’d come to the wedding but didn’t see you."
Vanessa Sterling smiled subtly, without explaining, perhaps not yet knowing how to.
Quentin Sterling smiled gently and asked Audrey Sutton, "Are you here to buy a gift for Shane too?"
The word "too" made Audrey Sutton pause, somewhat incredulously looking at Quentin Sterling and Clarissa Morgan, she probed, "...Are you choosing a gift for my husband?"
Quentin Sterling nodded with a smile, "Clarissa is thoughtful, remembered Shane’s birthday, said he helped her a lot while she was studying abroad, so she wanted to give him a gift to show her appreciation for his birthday."
Audrey Sutton gave a dry laugh, glancing at Clarissa Morgan; this woman sure knows how to maneuver.
Bringing her own husband to buy a gift for a man she couldn’t pursue, and concocted such grandiose reasons.
Clarissa Morgan gave a gentle smile, pointing to a shop on the right, "It’s this one, let’s go in and take a look."
Quentin Sterling dotingly smiled, holding Clarissa Morgan’s hand as they went in.
Audrey Sutton and Vanessa Sterling were both left stunned at the entrance, each lost in their thoughts.
Audrey Sutton looked at the luxury watch store in front of her, linking arms with Vanessa Sterling, "Let’s go."
The two followed them in, watching Clarissa Morgan as she browsed through the glass display cases filled with various men’s watches. Audrey Sutton walked over and said, "Watches don’t seem appropriate for a birthday gift."
Clarissa Morgan turned her head slightly to look at Audrey Sutton, smiling, "I’ve been abroad too long, they don’t have these notions there."
The saleswoman assisting them laughed, "Giving a watch signifies walking through every second of life with a loved one, accompanying each other forever."
Audrey Sutton heard this symbolism and thought it was even more inappropriate; who’s going to be accompanying whom every second forever?
Clarissa Morgan also laughed, correcting, "I’m giving it to a friend, this is my husband."
The saleswoman eloquently responded, "Even among friends, it’s like this, friendship lasts forever."
Clarissa Morgan bowed her head and continued to choose, the saleswoman smiled and said, "Even though locally people say watches represent ’sending off,’ it’s actually a good meaning; two people are supposed to be together long enough to send each other off."
With this persuasion, Audrey Sutton was moved. She wanted to accompany Shane Warner forever now.
Clarissa Morgan pointed to a watch with a black dial in the display case and said, "Please take this one out for me."
The saleswoman, wearing gloves, bent over to take the watch, saying, "Miss has a great eye, this is practically the store’s treasure, it’s a classic model, simple and elegant, just like it would look good on your husband."
Clarissa Morgan jokingly said, "Why don’t you buy one too?"
Quentin Sterling smiled and replied, "You know I don’t have the habit of wearing watches."
Audrey Sutton sneakily glanced at the watch Clarissa Morgan had chosen and then looked at the price.
Hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands...
Counting the zeros again: six hundred and sixty thousand.
Quentin Sterling really lets his wife buy such an expensive gift for another man? Or is sixty thousand just a small amount to him?
Clarissa Morgan had the saleswoman try it on Quentin Sterling’s wrist; it was clear Quentin Sterling truly loved Clarissa Morgan, following her wishes in everything.
Furthermore, since Quentin Sterling and Shane Warner have been friends for many years, he probably also felt that giving Shane Warner a birthday gift was expected.
But Audrey Sutton knew very well that Clarissa Morgan had ulterior motives.
"Do you think the black dial or the white one is better?" Clarissa Morgan asked Quentin Sterling.
Quentin Sterling smiled, "Shane would look good with either, but personally, I prefer white."
The saleslady said, "White is elegant, black is understated; both colors sell well."
Clarissa Morgan laughed, "Then let’s go with my husband’s choice, the white one."
Quentin Sterling took out a bank card from his wallet and handed it to Clarissa Morgan, who followed the saleswoman to the checkout.
Vanessa Sterling just stood silently aside, watching the two that seemed meant to be.
Her affection for Quentin Sterling might remain hidden forever.
Even though she never had the hawkish aspirations of being with him.
As Clarissa Morgan went to the checkout, Quentin Sterling turned towards them, finally noticing the scratch on Vanessa Sterling’s face, he gently asked her, "What happened to your face?"
Vanessa Sterling hurriedly glanced at him, shook her head and said, "It’s nothing, scratched accidentally."
He’s always been like a gentle and refined elder, perhaps the only one who’s ever shown concern when she got hurt as a child.
"How could you be so careless? Girls shouldn’t have scars on their faces."
Clarissa Morgan, having paid for the watch, walked over, smiling at Quentin Sterling, "Alright dear, let’s go."
"You guys continue shopping, we’ll be off now."
Audrey Sutton and Vanessa Sterling nodded simultaneously, staring at their departing backs, Audrey Sutton decided, "I’m going to buy a watch too."
Both she and Clarissa Morgan are giving watches, she wanted to see whose Shane Warner would wear.
Turning her head to look at the watches displayed within the glass cabinets, while others probably focused on the designs, Audrey Sutton’s first glance was at the price.
The cheapest ones were fifty, sixty thousand, just a fraction of Clarissa Morgan’s choice, she couldn’t bear to present them and felt they didn’t match Shane Warner’s status either.
Her initial plan was to spend a few hundred thousand at most; now it seemed like she’d have to empty her piggy bank.
The saleswoman probably noticed they looked like students incapable of spending, so she wasn’t as enthusiastic as she was with Clarissa Morgan earlier.
"Vanessa, what do you think about this one?"
Vanessa Sterling nodded, "Yes, it’s nice, actually black seems more suited for your husband, white doesn’t appear as steady."
"I agree." Audrey Sutton nodded repeatedly, then said to the saleswoman, "Would you please take this one out for me to see?"
