Medical and Martial God-Chapter 385: Exchange Intelligence for Life
Kong Ruoruo smiled. She had long suspected her cousin would use the soccer game as an opportunity to ambush Ling Yun, and things turned out exactly as she’d expected.
However, the students on and off the field were all completely dumbfounded! They had played soccer for so many years and watched countless matches, but they had never heard of a ball knocking a goalkeeper flying into the net to score a goal.
Just how much force would it take to give a soccer ball such terrifying power!
"What did you say just now? If I scored a goal, you’d call me daddy?" Ye Xiu walked up to the goalpost and said teasingly to Ling Yun, who was slumped on the ground.
"Who... Who are you?"
By now, Ling Yun had realized that "Ye Liangchen" was a Martial Artist, one whose strength was definitely above the Fourth Grade. But he couldn’t figure out how Ye Liangchen had managed to apply a Martial Artist’s power to a soccer ball. According to logic, the formidable power of a Martial Artist should have made the ball explode!
"This face of mine shouldn’t be unfamiliar to you, right?" Ye Xiu asked playfully as he took off his mask and sunglasses.
"Ye Xiu..." Seeing Ye Xiu’s face, Ling Yun couldn’t help but cry out in shock, his mind in turmoil. Shouldn’t Ye Xiu be at Shenghe Hospital saving people right now? Why is he here?
"Ye Xiu? The Divine Doctor?"
Hearing Ling Yun’s shout, the students swarmed over. Upon seeing Ye Xiu’s face, they all grew ecstatic.
"It really is the Divine Doctor."
"Haha, I’ve seen the Divine Doctor in the flesh!"
"Divine Doctor Ye, I’m your fan! Can you give me an autograph?"
The students were overcome with excitement. This was hardly surprising. Ye Xiu’s fame and influence in the country made him the undisputed number one idol, renowned for his genuine talent.
"Do you have a pen?" Ye Xiu asked.
The students grew embarrassed.
"I do, I do..." Kong Ruoruo ran over and pulled a signing pen from her bag.
Ye Xiu was momentarily stunned. Why would this girl carry a signing pen with her?
But he didn’t ask. He quickly signed his name on each student’s jersey and said, "Everyone, go take a break. I’d like to have a private word with this person."
Having obtained Ye Xiu’s autograph, the students treated it like a priceless treasure and left briskly. In truth, even if Ye Xiu hadn’t told them to leave, they would have eagerly rushed off to brag to their classmates. After all, this was an autograph from Ye Xiu, the Medicine King of Xuanse, something money couldn’t buy. It was an honor they could boast about for a lifetime.
"What do you want to talk to me about?" Ling Yun asked, trying to appear calm despite the frantic anxiety gripping his heart.
"You had people poison the eateries around Shenghe Hospital—the diners, restaurants, coffee shops, and milk tea places. You also orchestrated a car accident. What was your purpose?"
The moment he heard Ye Xiu’s words, Ling Yun’s heart leaped violently into his throat, and he was so terrified he nearly lost control of his bladder. He feigned composure and said, "I don’t understand what you’re talking about."
"The jeep driver has confessed to everything. Even if you don’t tell me your purpose, I have more than enough reason to kill you," Ye Xiu said coldly.
"I really don’t know what you’re talking about," Ling Yun argued. "Besides, even if the Patrol Officers suspect me, you’re just a doctor. You have no right to pass judgment on me."
"I am an instructor for the Red Flame Army. Do you still think I don’t have the qualifications to pass judgment on you?" Ye Xiu asked.
What? Ye Xiu is a Red Flame Army instructor? Ling Yun was so shocked he felt his brain go numb and nearly fainted. He took a deep breath to regain a sliver of composure and said, "You’re talking nonsense. How have I never heard of the Red Flame Army having instructors?"
"I’ll give you proof." Ye Xiu immediately started a video call with Qing Luan. "Qing Luan, tell Ling Yun if I am a Red Flame Army instructor or not."
Seeing Qing Luan on the screen of Ye Xiu’s phone, all the color drained from Ling Yun’s face. Now he believed it.
"Ling Yun, Divine Doctor Ye is indeed an instructor for our Red Flame Army. Do you have a problem with that?" Qing Luan asked icily from the screen.
Ye Xiu ended the video call and stared coldly at Ling Yun. "Not only do I have the authority to decide whether you live or die, but even if I were to annihilate the entire Ling Family, it would still be within my power."
Ye Xiu suddenly realized that while he couldn’t reveal his Huang Quan identity, being a Red Flame Army instructor was quite useful.
"I sent people to carry out the poisoning and to stage the car accident, all to keep you busy. It was to buy me time to pursue Kong Ruoruo. I wanted to enter the medical field in partnership with you, using the status of being Kong Ruoruo’s boyfriend," Ling Yun confessed. The lives of his entire family were now in Ye Xiu’s hands. He dared not play any more tricks.
"Just for that?" Ye Xiu asked.
"Yes!" Ling Yun nodded.
"For a piece of the medical field, you abandoned all humanity and harmed so many innocent people. Ling Yun, you deserve to die!" Ye Xiu’s voice was filled with a chilling killing intent as he grabbed Ling Yun by the neck and lifted him up.
"Wait!" Ling Yun screamed in terror, rushing to say, "Can I trade information for my life?"
"That depends on the information," Ye Xiu replied.
"The Long Family sent Yin Tianxi to Jin Ye City to retrieve Huang Quan’s body. Is that information worth my life?" Ling Yun asked.
"Yin Tianxi, the man at the top of the War God Ranking?" Ye Xiu inquired.
"Yes, that’s him!" Ling Yun nodded.
"Where is he?" Ye Xiu frowned. Since Yin Tianxi was from the Long Family, it was odd they hadn’t sent him to act during the restructuring of the War God Ranking.
"If you promise not to kill me, I can help you lure him here." With a bargaining chip, Ling Yun felt much more secure.
"Fine. If you can get him to come here, I will spare your life," Ye Xiu said, releasing his grip on Ling Yun’s neck.
Ling Yun slumped weakly to the ground, heaving a massive sigh of relief. He said, "Just a moment," took a few deep breaths, then pulled out his phone and dialed Yin Tianxi’s number.
When the call connected, Ye Xiu heard Yin Tianxi ask, "What is it?"
Ling Yun forced a smile and said, "I found an ancient sword in the possession of a student at Jin Ye City University..."
"What ancient sword?"
Ye Xiu could hear the excitement in Yin Tianxi’s tone and thought to himself that Ling Yun truly understood Yin Tianxi, managing to successfully bait him with the prospect of an ancient sword.
"I don’t know much about swords, but this one is covered in rust yet cuts through iron like mud. The student said he picked it up for a steal at Antique City. I’m on the sports field at Jin Ye City University right now, trying to haggle with him for it," Ling Yun said, weaving the lie so effortlessly it sounded completely real.
"I’ll be right there," Yin Tianxi said before hanging up.
"Yin Tianxi will be here soon. Divine Doctor Ye, can you spare my life now?" Ling Yun asked, putting his phone away and looking at Ye Xiu with a terrified expression.
"Ruoruo, go to my car and get the Bronze Sword," Ye Xiu said, tossing his car keys to Kong Ruoruo. He then squatted down to tend to Ling Yun. "You look like you’re in a lot of pain. Let me treat your injuries..."
"Thank you, thank you..." Ling Yun was so moved he was all tears and snot. Since the Divine Doctor was willing to treat him, it clearly meant he wasn’t going to be killed.
