Medical and Martial God-Chapter 31: The Car Accident, Their Hearts Are Guilty
Heh! As if I’d believe that.
Ming Yue didn’t call him out on it, casually sitting down beside him. She took a tissue from her bag to help wipe the blood from his nose and asked, "Ye Xiu, what are you doing lying all alone on the grass this early in the morning?"
"Sunbathing," Ye Xiu replied. "Come on, lie down next to me. Let’s have a couple’s sunbath together." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
Ming Yue was speechless.
"Heh, you certainly have a lot of free time, Ye Xiu. Anyway, I’m going to the restroom. I’ll be right back to join you."
Without waiting for his consent, Ming Yue got up and ran toward the villa.
Once she reached the restroom, she took out her phone and sent a message to the "Kill Ye Xiu Fund" group chat: "The intel is solid. Ye Xiu’s face is flushed, and he has a nosebleed. He looks to be in very poor health."
The group immediately buzzed with activity.
"Strike while he’s weak and finish him!"
"This is the perfect time to make our move."
"Given Ye Xiu’s medical skills, our window of opportunity is small. We have to act fast."
Ming Yue replied, "Alright, I’ll lure him to a secluded place. You all organize a team quickly."
"Good, it’s settled."
"Ming Yue, hurry up and sweet-talk him. We’ll decide who’s going to handle it."
Meanwhile, Ye Xiu lay on the lawn, emotionlessly watching the chat history of the "Kill Ye Xiu Fund" group, the corners of his mouth lifting into a chilling smirk.
That’s right. Ye Xiu was also in the group.
No one in the group could have ever imagined that the very man they were plotting to kill was right there among them. As for how he got in? Among Huang Quan’s Thirteen Protectors was a world-class hacker capable of infiltrating the military weapons systems of entire nations. Slipping Ye Xiu into a small chat group was child’s play.
"Ye Xiu, the weather is beautiful today. Let’s go out for a walk," Ming Yue said upon her return.
Ye Xiu turned his head. PFFT! His face flushed red again, and his nose started bleeding once more.
Seeing this, Ming Yue quickly knelt to wipe his nose. What in the world did he take last night for the side effects to be this bad? she wondered, clicking her tongue inwardly.
"Look at me. I’m so sick, I can’t go anywhere," Ye Xiu feigned weakness.
Ming Yue grew anxious. "How about this? I’ll take you to Shenghe Hospital and let Ghost Doctor take a look at you." Making a move in a hospital room wouldn’t be a bad idea, either, she schemed.
"Alright then." Ye Xiu spread his arms and said playfully, "I have no strength at all. You’ll have to carry me to the car."
PFFT!
The twenty servants peeking from a distance nearly had their eyes pop out of their sockets. Huang Quan, acting cute?
Ming Yue, however, didn’t mind. The thought of finally getting rid of Ye Xiu filled her with boundless energy. She actually managed to carry him on her back all the way to the car.
On the way to Shenghe Hospital, Ming Yue said, "Ye Xiu, Ghost Doctor is your apprentice. You should probably call him ahead of time. It would be a problem if he’s busy when we arrive."
"Good idea."
Ye Xiu was already planning to contact Ghost Doctor anyway, so he took the opportunity to text him. After confirming the arrangements, he announced, "All set. Ghost Doctor has arranged Special Care Room 3 for me."
Ming Yue’s eyes lit up as she looked for a chance to send this information to the group.
Ye Xiu was also trying to figure out how to give her an opportunity to report back when he suddenly saw a large truck in the rearview mirror, barreling toward them like a mad beast.
Almost on pure reflex, his left hand shot out and yanked the steering wheel. The car instantly swerved violently to the left.
"Ye Xiu, are you insane?!"
The sudden move made the hair on Ming Yue’s body stand on end. Damn it! Is this bastard Ye Xiu trying to take me down with him?
She slammed on the brakes, and the car screeched to a halt just inches from crashing into the curb.
BOOM!
Just then, the large truck from behind smashed into seven or eight cars in a chain reaction. It then surged onto the roadside curb and crashed into a large tree, snapping the trunk—which was thick enough for a person to wrap their arms around—before finally coming to a stop.
"This..." Ming Yue stared at the wreckage strewn across the road, her face pale. "We’re done for, Ye Xiu. You caused such a severe traffic accident. If anyone died, you’ll go to jail."
She assumed the pile-up was Ye Xiu’s fault. At that moment, however, she actually found herself hoping a few people had died. That way, she and the masterminds behind the plot wouldn’t have to rack their brains trying to kill Ye Xiu.
Ye Xiu said nothing, getting out of the car and running toward the center of the crash site.
Seeing this, Ming Yue was stunned for a moment. He was half-dead just a second ago, so how can he be running now? But she didn’t dwell on it, assuming he was running on adrenaline, spurred on by the fear of taking responsibility.
She seized the opportunity to send a message to the group, then chased after him.
Passing vehicles began to stop, their occupants craning their necks to see the spectacle, and pedestrians also gathered to watch.
"Song’er! Song’er!"
A voice, frantic with terror, drew everyone’s attention.
The door of a Porsche flew open, and a middle-aged woman dragged a girl out of the car. A young man crawled out from the passenger seat. The three of them were a mess, but they didn’t appear injured. The only exception was the girl named Song’er, who was completely unconscious.
Ye Xiu ran over, shouting, "Quick, someone help me get the people out of the other cars!"
At his call, the onlookers who had been standing by rushed forward to help with the rescue.
"Song’er! Song’er, don’t scare Mommy! Wake up! Please, wake up!" the middle-aged woman from the Porsche wailed, shaking the unconscious girl.
Watching the distraught woman, Ye Xiu felt as if he were seeing his own helpless past self. He walked over, squatting down and reaching for Song’er’s wrist to check her pulse, but the middle-aged woman shoved him away as if she’d gone mad.
"What do you think you’re doing?"
The young man from the passenger seat grabbed Ye Xiu by the collar and snarled, "Who the hell are you? Who said you could touch my sister?"
Hearing the commotion, Ming Yue saw that Ye Xiu wasn’t helping with the rescue but was instead trying to take advantage of Song’er. She was rendered utterly speechless. What a beast! Not only did he cause this huge accident, but now he’s taking the chance to be a pervert! He’s worse than an animal!
"Calm down. I can save your sister," Ye Xiu said, trying to placate the furious young man.
"Are you a doctor?" The young man, realizing he might have acted too rashly, loosened his grip on Ye Xiu’s shirt and asked.
"He is Ye Xiu!" Before Ye Xiu could answer, Ming Yue ran over and declared, "He’s the Xuanse Medicine King from ten years ago."
Ye Xiu was enraged. Ming Yue’s motives are absolutely despicable! On the surface, she seems to be helping me, but her words hide a sinister plot. In this country, my name is synonymous with ’scum.’ Once this young man and the woman find out who I am, they’ll never let me treat Song’er. If she dies because of this, then even if it has nothing to do with me, public opinion will blame me as soon as the story gets out.
"Ye Xiu?"
Upon hearing that name, the young man, the middle-aged woman, and the surrounding crowd didn’t even need to think. They all knew exactly who he was.
Instantly, they started to close in, pointing fingers and murmuring.
