Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 99: Lianna’s truth 3
A large portal made of dark green glow stood in the middle of a desert with no signs of life, swirling continuously.
Snarls and shrieks could be heard echoing behind the portal, as well as mysterious whispers of spell chants.
Lianna and the three Statkus mages appeared in front of the portal, and Lianna was intrigued by it.
"So, this is the Statkus portal." She laughed and smiled broadly.
"Once you cross that portal, you will have the Statkus mages’ powers, but know that there will come a time when you will be exactly like us." Inkadon warned her, and she rolled her eyes, her mind consumed by the desire to be more powerful than her sister.
"I do not care; I just want the power, and I’d like to know why your victims’ bodies are so dry."
The Statkus mages laughed as they looked at each other.
"You are very ambitious." praised, Jestia.
"You will make us proud." Inkadon laughed, displaying her bloodied teeth.
"Here." Jorad pointed his staff at Lianna’s arm, and she smiled as she extended her hand.
A rusty dagger in the shape of a zig zag appeared on her palm, and she immediately gripped the handle.
"This dagger has been soaked in Sumera, the poison of the Statkus mages. You are free to use it because it is yours. It can only be used by a Statkus mage to have an effect; otherwise, it is just a regular dagger." Jorad explained, and Lianna burst out laughing.
"Prefect." She laughed.
"You may now enter." Inkadon indicated the portal.
Lianna slowly turned to face the portal, her face tense. Her steps were slow as she approached it, and she could hear the whispers, shrieks, and snarls becoming more audible.
"It is time for a completely new Lianna." She muttered to herself, smiled brightly, and stepped into the portal, her eyes closed.
Everything went silent, and when she opened her eyes, she was in complete darkness, hearing high-pitched laughter and cackles.
"Our pawn of destruction, one of us, Our pawn of destruction, one of us, Our pawn of destruction, one of us, Our pawn of destruction, one of us," Whispers of various voices chanted it sounded like there were an uncountable number of Statkus mages in that darkness.
It seemed to last an eternity. Hearing those chants echoing in, seeing nothing but darkness, but feeling power surge through her veins.
When she finally saw the sun, she found her in the same forest where she had seen the three elderly Statkus mages before they took her to the portal. She was on a snow blanketed ground, feeling like she had awoken from a nightmare.
Groaning, she stood up trembling and extended her arm, summoning the dagger, which appeared on her hand immediately.
Lianna grinned contentedly. "Fortunately, it wasn’t a dream."
Lianna returned to her kingdom only to find that everyone who looked at her was either stunned or relieved.
What had happened? Did she have the appearance of a Statkus mage? She was certain she didn’t, so why were they staring at her like that?
Lianna didn’t go to check on Genevieve and Rares because she was envious of their proximity. It felt like love at first sight to her, which she didn’t believe existed.
When she arrived at the castle, every guard who saw her was as taken aback as the subjects. Tired of their reactions, she grabbed one by the neck and pinned him to the wall, looking enraged.
"Is there something on my face?" She questioned him angrily.
"M..m..m.. your majesty, you are alive!" He exclaimed happily, causing Lianna to furrow her brows in confusion.
"What?" Perplexed, she inquired.
Genevieve and Lucian dashed out of the castle, looking as if they had run a thousand miles, and screamed in delight when they saw Lianna, who had pinned a guard to the wall.
"Lia!" Genevieve broke down in tears.
"It is my daughter!" Lucian also called in tears.
"Yes?" Lianna asked, perplexed, and let go of the guard, who bolted.
Genevieve and Lucian hugged her tightly, leaving her befuddled.
"What exactly is going on?" She had to inquire.
"We thought you were dead." Genevieve responded emotionally.
They released the hug, and it was Lianna’s turn to look surprised.
"How long have I been missing?" She inquired, terrified and looked around see snow all over. She wasn’t feeling cold which why she didn’t notice at all.
Was it because she had powers of a Statkus mage now?
"Why in the hell is it snowing?!" She exclaimed in shock and shivered when she finally felt cold.
"It has been fifty years." Lianna was taken aback by Genevieve’s sudden response.
During Lianna’s fifty years in the portal, the ice dragons had been wiped out, winter had taken over the entire world as the last dragon was born at that time, and the Statkus mages had increased their attacks on Credia.
One day after Lianna’s return, a thief was caught stealing pearls and diamonds from the kingdom’s treasury.
Lianna and Genevieve were sent by their father to bring him to the castle, and upon meeting him, they realised he was a human, a very greedy human.
His hands were bound by glowing chains, preventing him from moving anything but his lips.
The treasury was a building where the treasures and income of the mages and humans who lived in Credia were kept safe.
"Who are you?" Genevieve enquired, disgusted by the human.
"A visitor." The man replied with a smug smile.
He was good looking and had a calm smile; he didn’t look like a thief, but he was.
"A treasury visitor." Lianna scoffed and crossed her arms across her chest.
"Believe me when I say I know my way around." He chuckled deviously.
"He probably has a companion in Credia who is assisting him." Genevieve maintained her disdain for the man, and he seemed to admire her.
"Famous princess Genevieve Donovan." He chuckled blowing her a kiss, and Genevieve punched his forehead, breaking the spell of the glowing chain around his hands and causing him to fall to the ground.
"Find his companion and execute them both; I have a meeting this afternoon." Genevieve then exited the building, making Lianna furious.
"Commanding me?" She scoffed, offended.
As he stood up, the man burst into laughter and grunted. "Hello, Lianna Donovan, my name is Julius Peppers."
