Chapter 179:

’I’m not like before, I won’t run anymore.’ He thought, his eyes squinting in determination.

Just then, the dark yellow crack suddenly expanded, its size increasing rapidly to that is a portal the size of a door.

The terrified cries of the people in the streets filled in the air, as they scampered away in fear, their actions growing increasingly desperate.

Harry’s face squeezed into a deep frown as he stared at the people still crowded at the restaurant’s entrance.

They could have all gotten out a lot faster if they had just done it calmly, but no one wanted to wait for anyone. Due to how they were all trying to rush out at the same time, things became a lot slower as many of them kept tripping and falling, further obstructing the rest.

’I can’t remain in this building, I need to get out!’ Harry thought, with a frown on his face.

If he decided to fight in the restaurant, his power would be limited for sure, and the people still scampering around at the entrance would do nothing more than hold him back.

’The workers of this place have been nice to me from the start, I can’t just stay back and watch that mana beast kill them!’ Harry thought.

His gaze drifted from the entrance to a large glass window at the side of the door, and a slight smile appeared on his lips.

Without wasting anytime, Harry dashed towards the broken window. He swiftly leapt through it, using his boosted agility and flexibility to his advantage, before landing back on his feet, finally outside the restaurant.

Just then, the mana beast fully popped out of the rift, its full body completely coming into sight.

It had two thick, long tusks that jutted out from the sides of its head, and thick brown skin. Each tusks were half a meter long, while its body was over two meters tall, giving it an intimidating presence.

Growl!!

With a loud, drawn out growl, it suddenly lunged towards a man in black suit. Its mouth was wide open, revealing the sharp, deadly set of teeth within them, as it tried to bite off the man’s head.

"Ahhh!!! Mana beast!!" The man shouted in terror, as he watched the sharp fangs of the beast swiftly descend on him.

However, just as the jaws of the mana beast were about to close up on his head, a thin, long wind blade suddenly sliced through the air with astonishing speed, striking the mana beast square on the side of its head.

The beast’s head jerked violently to the side in response, a bellow of agony escaping its gaping jaws as it recoiled from the unexpected assault.

The man frantically observed his body, seeing that he was still alive and hadn’t been eaten by the beast, he exhaled in relief. He quickly used this chance to escape from the beast, taking off with his legs.

"Hey there... mana beast," Harry said, while flashing a smug smile towards the beast.

Fortunately, he launched the wind blade towards the beast in the nick of time, or else that man would have lost his life.

The large brown beast slowly turned its head towards the direction the wind blade flew from, its gaze finally landing on Harry.

Growl!

It growled, baring its fangs at the brown haired teenager, infuriated that its prey managed to escape due to Harry’s interference.

Sweat dripped down Harry’s face, as he stared at the beast.

Now that he was finally able to take a good look at the mana beast, he realized that this beast looked a lot like... the one that attacked him some months back, on the day he gained the system.

It had the same thick, brown skin as that beast, except its didn’t seem as dark. The tusks at the sides of its head also reminded him a lot of the same pair of tusks he remembered towering over him.

The mana beast also stood on both forelimbs and hind limbs, with its hind limbs slightly curved backwards.

Harry clearly remembered, that was the same stance the peak stage four beast also took!

His breath quickened a little, and he subconsciously stepped backwards, as the bitter memories of that day came rushing back into his mind.

He could feel a weird tightening sensation deep inside his chest, and his back was drenched with sweat.

However, he quickly controlled himself, taking a few deep breaths.

’Damn... getting like this over a simple stage three mana beast... pathetic.’ He thought, with a wry smile on his face.

Things were different now, he wasn’t as helpless and he had no reason to fear the mana beast. He could now fight back, and most of all, he now had the system.

From what he could tell with his mana sense, the mana beast was only at most, at the peak of the third stage, and he should be able to handle that at his current level.

’Fortunately, only one beast came out of the rift, I guess that’s a good start.’ Harry mumbled inwardly, before hurriedly channeling his energy throughout his body.

The huge brown beast had been growling at him for some seconds now, and it was clear that it was hoping to attack soon.

However, just when he was feeling glad that there was only one mana beast, the crack suddenly expanded, its size tripling.

Harry’s eyes widened in shock at the sight of this, and his expression morphed into a deep frown.

As if that wasn’t enough, three more mana beast suddenly came out of the rift, each one looking exactly like the first.

The roars of the mana beasts echoed in the air, striking more fear terror into the hearts of those running away.

More screams filled the air, as the people picked up their speed, each one praying to not fall prey to the deadly fangs of the mana beast.

’This is bad!!’ Harry thought, beads of sweat pooling on his forehead. While he was sure he could handle one stage three mana beast, he didn’t know about three!

And with how they were staring at him, it was clear none of them was willing to just let him walk away.

With loud growls, all three of them suddenly charged at him, with drools leaking from their mouths.

’Damn it!!’ Harry exclaimed inwardly. The speed of the mana beasts were fast, insanely fast that he couldn’t properly follow them even with accelerate still active.

The first mana beast lunged at him, with its jaws wide open, aiming to bite off his head.

However, Harry hurriedly redirected a substantial amount of energy towards his legs.

Just as its fangs were about to reach him, he swiftly utilized the energy flowing through his legs, using it to propel himself backwards, successfully escaping the bite.

’I can’t properly fight here, I need to move to a more empty space, where I won’t be interrupted!’ Harry thought, the frown on his face deepening, as he could see the large mouth of another mana beast rapidly closing on him from the side.
