’I can’t properly fight here, I need to move to a more empty space, where I won’t be interrupted!’ Harry thought, the frown on his face deepening, as he could see the large mouth of another mana beast rapidly closing on him from the side.

’Lightning Dash!’ He shouted inwardly, swiftly activating another of his speed boost skills.

Just as the jaws of the huge mana beast were about to land on him, Harry swiftly leapt backwards once more, utilizing the speed boost given to him by [Accelerate] and [Lightning Dash].

With the increased speed from the lightning sparks dancing around his body, Harry was finally able to follow the speed of the mana beasts.

However, he still didn’t plan on fighting them here. Since he was known to all as a stage one Elementalist, he couldn’t showcase his more powerful skills like [Wind slash], as that could cause suspicions to rise up about him.

If they were just ordinary beast, then maybe he could have fought them using only his weaker skills. But with their insane strength, and speed, that would be a stupid thing to do.

The other mana beasts didn’t give him enough time to think, before punching on him once more, this time, they did it all at once.

Their loud roars echoed in the air, as the beasts jumped towards Harry.

Harry scoffed under his breath, swiftly leaping backwards once more.

With the speed-boost from two of his skills, handling the speed from the three large beasts no longer posed a problem.

Infuriated at this, the beasts bared their fangs at him, growling in annoyance.

’Heheh... now that should get their eyes on only me.’ Harry thought, with a slight smirk on his face.

He made sure the beast’s anger was focused on only him, to prevent them from going after anyone else.

If they had more intelligence, then that wouldn’t have worked, but fortunately, they were creatures that relied solely on instincts, and attracting their anger was quite easy.

With loud roar, the mana beasts charged at him once more.

However, this time, Harry didn’t fight back, neither did he try to dodge their attack.

’Wind Steps!’ He mumbled inwardly, hurriedly activating another skill to enhance his speed.

Without wasting any time, he swiftly turned around, and then started running towards the opposite direction.

The trio of beasts roared loudly to the skies, yet they showed no sign of giving up their pursuit and continued to chase after him.

A slight smile appeared on Harry’s face when he noticed they were still on his trail.

’Perfect. Like this, I could lure them away.’ He thought, as a weird expression flashed through his eyes.

Meanwhile, in the restaurant, Laura’s eyes moistened with tears, as she watched the three mana beasts chase after Harry.

’Harry... how the hell would he fight off those mana beasts...?’ She thought, as her grip subconsciously tightened around the slim, black telephone in her hands.

She had been trying the emergency number for the AMO for a while now, but no one was picking up.

Mana beast attacks weren’t common in the first place, and one like this was even rarer.

Before a rift appeared, the mana in the air usually fluctuated unnaturally days or at times, week before.

Mana towers that monitored the flow of mana in the air were situated at different parts of the city.

The moment one of the towers records an irregularity in the ambient mana around them, the AMO would immediately know about it, and the people around I that area would he notified.

They would be advised to evacuate and an adventurer would swiftly be dispatched there.

However, there were times when rifts suddenly appeared, with no prior irregularities in the mana in the air.

In these kinds of situations, all they could do was rely on the emergency number of the AMO, and wish the adventurers arrived on time.

Laura understood what Harry was trying to do; he was trying to stall time, before the AMO arrived.

While she didn’t exactly disapprove of his idea, she was still very worried about him.

He was only a late stage one Elementalist, like she was, and while he was a lot more talented than she was, she still didn’t know how he would manage to stall three powerful beasts.

’But... how is he so fast?’ She mumbled inwardly, with a strange glint flashing through her eyes.

Remembering how Harry was able to escape those beast’s deadly attacks, and the amount of strength he displayed, she couldn’t help but feel that... he might be able to stall for time against the deadly trio of mana beasts.

Harry swiftly moved to the side, successfully escaping the large brown paw that was about to descend upon him.

The large paw, filled with deadly claws, smashed against the ground instead, causing a loud sound of echo in the air.

The sheer power behind the attack caused the ground to cave in deeply and cracks appeared all around the surface.

Harry gulped, sweat dripping down his face, when he noticed how that one simple attack easily damaged the ground.

’These beasts are really powerful...’ He thought, with his brows furrowing into a slight frown.

’At least, I’ve finally managed to lure them here...’ Harry thought with a slight smile on his lips as he landed on his feet.

When the mana beasts were chasing him, he hadn’t just being running around aimlessly, instead he managed to lure them to a deserted street that was situated a few meters from the restaurant.

It wasn’t that the street was always like this, it was only due to the mana beast attack.

Everyone had already fled in an attempt to escape the mana beasts, leaving the street completely vacant.

With his perception, he could sense that there was no one around him, so he was sure he had nothing to worry about.

Roarrr!!

One of the mana beasts suddenly let out a loud roar, before pouncing at him once more.

Its mouth was wide open, revealing a set of sharp, deadly fangs, that threatened to rip anything that came between them apart.

A slight smile appeared on Harry’s face, but he didn’t plan on running or just dodging anymore.

’It’s time to attack!’ He thought, as he swiftly jumped towards the beast.

Just as jaws of the large beast were about to close in on him, Harry channeled a little of his energy into his legs, using it to propel himself to the side.

By doing this, he was able to move away from the trajectory of the mana beast, causing the fangs of the beast to bite the air instead.

Still in the air, Harry swiftly activated another skill.

’Wind Slash!!’ He said inwardly, without even making a single hand sign. Immediately, three thin, slashes formed out of the air, each one lined up in front of the other.

The sliced through the air at astonishing speed, swiftly heading for the neck of the mana beast.

Within the blink of an eye, the wind slashes landed on the side of the beast’s neck, all three of them slashing the same spot.

Growl!!

The force behind the attacks opened up a deep cut on the beast’s neck, and the creature growled to the skies in pain.

A notification flashed in front of Harry’s eyes, and his expression squeezed into a slight frown when he read through it.

’This is why I don’t like using all three of the speed-boost skills together.’ Harry thought.

While using [Accelerate], [Lightning Dash], and [Wind steps] all at the same time would give him an insane boost in his speed, the problem was just that it took too much energy.

Even though he wasn’t boosting the skills’ power, they were still taking a large chunk of his energy every few seconds.

Harry de-activated [Wind steps], leaving only [Accelerate] and [Lightning Dash] active.

This caused his speed and agility to drop by a few levels, but it still didn’t mean he was slow in anyway.

Growl!

Two loud growls echoed in the air, as the two other mana beasts suddenly charged at him.

Harry scoffed under his breath when he noticed the speed of the wild creatures.

’My speed has dropped... so following their speed is definitely harder than before.’ Harry thought with a slight frown on his face.

One of the beasts swung one of its paws at him, aiming to squat him away.

Harry swiftly harassed some of his energy into his legs, using it to boost the power of [Accelerate].

With that, his speed increased again, and he swiftly leapt upward, causing the large set of claws to miss and crash into the ground instead.

Bam!!

A loud sound echoed in the air, and a deep crater appeared on the surface of the ground where the mana beast’s paw had landed.

Harry, seeing this as another chance, hurriedly channeled more of his energy into his legs.

Using the power swirling within his legs, he managed to propel himself forward.

A faint smile crossed his face as he swiftly planted one foot on the outstretched arm of the beast, using it as leverage to propel himself forward once again.
