Malevolent Warlock: Sin Of Eternity-Chapter 281: Tribute To The Undergod Monestary
The sounds of chains gently crashing against each other resounded, as a line of powerful figures could be seen walking barefoot along the riverbanks of the Undergod River.
"Move, prisoner," behind the line of men were troopers in special armor with spears in hand, moving them along.
"This is humiliating," one of the prisoners sneered as he looked at the mounted horsemen from the corner of his eye.
This was indeed humiliating. Every single one of them was a high-level gangster who had terrorized the river for decades. They had robbed merchants, ships, and even travelers, all of whom begged them unceasingly for their lives. How could these guys treat them like this? Did they not know who they were?
"Shut up and walk, there’s nothing we can do here," beside him, a high-ranking gangster berated as he walked steadily forward.
The happenings three nights ago were still burned well within his mind. They were all busy having a good time as they planned for the eventual slaughter of the so-called faceless night troop.
They had amassed a troop of about 12,000 men, soon to be 20,000 if the others could make it in time. This would make it the biggest alliance of gangs the river had ever seen. They would be making history.
It was quite funny that it took the threat of extermination for them to finally band together, but they were happy they eventually did.
At least that was until midnight struck.
The first thing they heard was a gut-wrenching scream from the commander’s war tent followed by a scary sight in the sky.
Fire.
They had never seen a real Dragon before, but they knew of its tales. Fire breath, wind sundering, and awe-imposing. They didn’t need an expert to tell them what this was, they could see it with their very eyes.
They had come under attack from a powerful existence.
Before they could even pick up their weapons, the place was set ablaze and their leaders were captured and used to threaten them into submission.
Most didn’t bow their heads, of course. After all, they were all gangsters and criminals. The concept of loyalty wasn’t really well defined in their stratosphere. Naturally, there were consequences for this, and the men soon came to understand this—
From behind, heads started popping, and bodies were cleaved in half by a mysterious force. It didn’t matter how hard they tried or where they dodged to, once they resisted they were killed without remorse.
It was a terrifying moment as they all stood still and watched their brothers die one after the other. Fear couldn’t begin to describe how they felt.
"Stop slacking behind, we are almost there," the back of a spear nudged him at the back of his head, forcing him to move forward and snapping him from his daze.
They were, in fact, the lucky ones as they had survived the night’s slaughter. They should be grateful.
About three hours later, the sound of a waterfall soon filled the air coupled with a cooling breeze from the surroundings.

In front of them was a massive mountainous formation with a large waterfall in the middle of it. They had made it to the source of the Undergod River. The holy land of the Undergod territory.
The Undergod Monastery.
"Line them up!!" A trooper from Leon’s men rode forward with a poleaxe and commanded his men.
A few seconds later, the prisoners were packed up and lined up in front of the riverbank, facing the river directly. Then three young men and some ladies rode out from the main troop and stood facing the waterfall with their heads held high.
"What’s going on over there?"
On the other side of the river, a group of nobles and pilgrims could be seen looking over at the army in terror and fear.
Gang activity was high in recent years on the riverbanks, but never had they dared to come to the Undergod Monastery to cause trouble... What was this?
They couldn’t help but muse intently as they watched the spectacle before them. They felt fear, but at the same time, they were resolved.
They were in front of the Undergod Monastery, these people could not kill them even if they tried. This was holy ground.
"Wshhhh," just as they steeled themselves for what was to happen next, the curtain of water rushing down from the waterfall slowly parted ways as a mighty ship took sail into the river.
It wasn’t the most fancy contraption, nor did it carry the weight of grandeur that fit its size. It looked more like a common merchant ship to the common eye, but they all knew what this was.
Such a lackluster vessel, it could only belong to the reclusive monks of the Undergod Monastery.
"My god," the pilgrims fell to their knees and the nobles and merchants’ eyes widened with shock.
The Undergod Monastery really sent out their monks? This was amazing. These guys never left the monastery on a normal day.
This must be something really important…
Soon, the ship moved down the river and came to a stop midway where the prisoners had been lined up.
"We are grateful," one of the monks, a particularly old man without a trace of hair on his face, stepped forward and smiled lightly.
They knew the Sacred Land would be sending people their way, sooner or later. They didn’t expect them to clean up their mess and not acknowledge them for it.
"Hmm!!" Leon nodded and moved forward with Kang and Ken beside him, reaching the side of the line of prisoners.
"A tribute to the Undergod Monastery, the heads of those who have ravaged and murdered the good people of the territory are yours," Leon spoke before proceeding to send a beam of light through the heads of all the prisoners in the lineup.
In the next instant, they all fell to the ground dead.
This was the price for going against the Undergod Monastery: death.
"Ahh," the monks kept a smile on their faces as they looked at the trail of about 20 bodies.
This was only natural, but what this kid was drumming up was something else.
He was showing the nobles here that there was a potential alliance drumming up in the dark.
The Undergod Monastery and the leaders of the Sacred Land were up to something.
