Chapter 110: The physical training
Veyne stared at the list the stuff he had to do. The more he read, the paler his face went. He gulped and asked Casim, "Are you sure I won’t die doing this?"
Casim smiled at him. "Don’t worry, sir. There are numerous advanced supplements on the market today that aid in rapid recovery. As your trainer, I’ll make sure you don’t kill yourself."
Veyne rubbed the back of his head. There was no denying that medical science these days had made multiple big breakthroughs.
He knew things were only going to get better, but all these exercises required him to repeat the same simple movements until his body gave out.
It was much different from the high-intensity workouts used by bodybuilders.
He took a deep breath and asked, "I know I shouldn’t ask this, but can you give me an idea how much time it’ll take to reach my goal?"
Casim searched for some guy on the internet and showed him. "Sir, if you follow along with me, I promise you that in a month you’ll be like this guy."
Veyne looked at the phone and saw an amateur gymnastics guy with a lean body and a bit of growth in his arm and leg muscles. It was still far from what he wanted to achieve, but being able to reach that much in a month would be great.
Casim didn’t stop there and showed another picture. "If you continue for about three months, then you’ll have something like this."
Veyne looked at the second pic of another guy with a chiseled, lean body.
Casim pointed out, "Though keep in mind that your arms and legs won’t be that big, as we’ll focus on developing your core strength and agility."
Veyne stared at the second picture for a long time and then nodded. "Okay, let’s go with this training. Anything you need for my training, just ask Roonie, and he’ll provide it. As for food and supplements, just tell Bea."
Casim put down the phone and cracked his fingers with a smile. "Haha, that’s the spirit. Let’s not waste any more time. Why don’t we start with a bit of stretching first?"
Just like that, Veyne went through the first hell session of his life—the kind of hell he was willing to go through.
...
For the next 45 minutes, there were times when it was just too much, to the point that even tears flowed down his face. But he didn’t care.
As he felt the intense pain, the memories he had been trying to suppress started resurfacing in his mind.
Instead of trying to suppress those emotions, he began to relive them inside his head.
The pain and mental agony those memories caused were far worse than the pain in his body.
His physical pain became an anchor that helped him relive those moments without mentally losing himself—a constant reminder that what he was seeing was just the past.
Some memories made his blood boil, increasing his heartbeat, while others sent chills down his spine, causing goosebumps all over his body.
He continued to relive those moments while following Casim’s instructions. It became almost automatic.
Not long after, he heard a loud clap that pulled him out of his memories. As he regained his senses, he found himself lying on the ground, drenched in sweat.
He tried to move, only to feel an intense burning sensation all over his body.
Casim said, "Take some time to rest here, sir. I’ll arrange an ice bath for you."
Veyne just mumbled, "Okay."
Casim smiled and said while walking out, "Good job, sir." With that, he left Veyne alone in the gym.
Veyne just lay there in confusion. He still wasn’t sure why he had seen those memories. And why the hell had he relived them instead of ignoring them?
He gritted his teeth and pulled himself up to sit.
As he sat down, he saw himself in the mirror—his face full of tears and sweat. He clicked his tongue and wiped away the tears. They looked hideous on his face.
He stood up, enduring the pain, and slowly began walking down, one step at a time.
As he reached the middle floor, Casim spotted him. "Oh, you’re already here, sir. I’ve arranged the ice bath for you in your room."
Veyne nodded and dragged himself toward his room.
From behind, Casim called out, "Sir, make sure you eat the food and take the supplement before going inside the game."
"I’ll keep that in mind," Veyne replied and closed the door behind him.
He threw off his sticky clothes and walked into the bathroom. There, he saw his bathtub filled with water and a whole lot of ice cubes floating on top.
He took a deep breath and stepped into the bathtub. It was much colder than the shower he’d taken in the morning.
Veyne clenched his teeth and sat down in the tub. A few minutes in, and he felt his entire body going numb.
Casim had already warned him not to overdo it. So he stayed in for about 10 minutes, then took a normal shower.
Before long, he walked into the kitchen, where Bea served him a meat-rich meal along with a few tablets.
After consuming everything, he checked the time. It was only 7 a.m.—still a bit early, but there was nothing else for him to do outside.
He took a light walk around the house, pacing to help digest the food, and then headed back to his room.
It was time to start the second part of his grind.
He dropped into his pod and tapped the start button with his elbow.
Soon, a red light scanned his body as the massive AA logo appeared before him.
Not long after, he opened his eyes inside an alley.
Wasting no time, Forsyx closed his eyes and muttered, "Teleport to the lab."
After a few minutes of silence, a familiar notification popped up in front of him.
Ding!
[Teleportation in progress. Remain still for 30 seconds.]
He stood there, and the moment the timer hit zero, a bright light engulfed him.
Zap!
