Journey to the End of the Night-Chapter 1377 - 879: Ninefold Burning
Crack!!!
The force was deep, the methods ruthless, the gaze fierce, enough to make one’s heart tremble.
The pitch-black talisman sword pierced through the brow, penetrating the skull.
Ying Xiu, with his cold and blood-red eyes wide open, stared intensely at Baili An, speaking with resentment:
"Even if my life is a lie and my identity is false, my defiance and pride over these two hundred years are real. It’s not your place to convict me!"
With that, he fiercely withdrew the talisman sword, and soul fire mixed with blood gushed continuously from his head.
Ying Xiu, looking like an Evil Ghost, his gaze laden with deep-seated resentment, seemed to contain a curse, glaring at Baili An with mad hatred.
He would rather destroy his soul than suffer the humiliation of the Soul Stripping Punishment.
Ying Xiu staggered a couple of steps on the blood-stained ground, the fire of despair and indignation burning in his ears as he stumbled about.
At the end of his path, looking at the millennia-old majestic palaces, all he saw was a landscape of dazzling madness and twisted colors.
All around, only the sound of his deranged soul’s cries and howls could be heard, his intense will to survive born within this puppet body.
Now, as he willingly dissolved his soul to seek death, that innate will to survive screamed wildly from the depths of his soul, tormenting every nerve.
Ying Xiu let out a sorrowful laugh, suddenly realizing that everything he pursued in life had become a burden and imprisonment.
Chasing after that distant and illusory mirage, he hadn’t even experienced a moment of indulgence and joy upon reflection.
In the fading consciousness of his nearing dissolution, Ying Xiu could no longer distinguish the border between the Mortal World and the Nine Nethers.
False homeland, trapped soul, he was like a puddle of filthy blood, lingering in the Mortal World.
In the end, in his hazy vision, he turned his head, seemingly noticing a sliver of the dawn breaking through the darkness from the east, with its clear radiance illuminating the earth. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
The wind gently stirred, and the scent of green grass followed like a shadow. In a deeply tender scene, he saw a hint of a red figure.
Ying Xiu let out a sorrowful laugh, as the blood between his brows gushed increasingly, while the fragile light of his soul grew ever weaker, on the brink of consciousness.
Ying Xiu, gathering strength from who knows where, shouted Baili An’s name with unclear fury before bursting into mad laughter.
Onlookers believed this false Crown Prince had been driven mad to the brink of desperation.
Yet Baili An, amidst his maniacal smile, detected a strange emotion, which inexplicably tightened his heart. He fixed his gaze on Ying Xiu, silently.
When Ying Xiu finished laughing, his expression returned to a deathly indifference, devoid of emotion: "Today, I have lost, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve won."
Baili An squinted, seemingly understanding something, his expression icy.
Ying Xiu’s body began to turn into talisman paper, the runic marks on the tattered yellow paper climbing up his cheeks and cracking. Looking down at his body with a mocking gaze, he smiled and said:
"Three years ago, you and I went through a great calamity together. Mohe’s conspiracy of burying Zangxin had been schemed for hundreds of years at the Xijian Sect, yet it was completely overturned, resulting in a complete defeat.
Though I was fully prepared today, destined to seize the Central Netherworld, I never considered I might end up like this."
Facing impending demise, Ying Xiu’s face suddenly bore an unprecedented release and ease, he said calmly:
"I can’t kill you, or even touch anyone in the Central Netherworld. To you, it’s as if you’ve become the hero who saves the day like the protagonist in a story, while I am the reviled villain, to be swiftly executed.
You can stand in that lofty position, like a King, deciding my fate with a single thought..."
As he spoke, Ying Xiu smiled slightly, saying: "But why should I let you win so easily? As the antagonist, I should cause some trouble to save you from being too lonely as a hero."
"To you, I may be just a clown, but I, Ying Xiu, hold you in high regard, considering you my lifelong enemy.
If I don’t cause you some significant trouble, it would be a waste of my existence."
He sighed deeply, an inexplicable sense of release on his face: "I’m about to die; I should take one or two down with me. Ying Ji, I may be unable to move now, but there’s a woman in this world who loves you to the bone."
"Since I can’t have you, I’ll just take her with me to the Netherworld. In that chaotic world..."
Ying Xiu smiled, with unspeakable malicious intent: "I don’t mind borrowing this body once more, to be her lover... "
Baili An would not give him the time to finish his sentence. Suddenly, a fierce wind arose within the hall, blowing all the people inside backward onto their backs.
Ying Xiu’s neck was clutched by a cold hand, the long fingers, with distinct joints, faintly tense with bluish veins.
A piercingly cold aura surged in, causing Ying Xiu’s soul dissolution, at the brink of release, to abruptly freeze.
The last spark of life was forcefully retained within, the shattered soul like shattered needles piercing him deeply with unendurable pain!
A trace of chill and fear finally tainted his indifferent brows and eyes, and in such close proximity was Baili An’s exceptionally handsome face.
Yet at this moment, his face darkened, the deep black eyes burning with intense fury, surging tumultuously like molten iron.
Baili An’s cold eyes scrutinized him, his gaze resembling ice as he meticulously examined Ying Xiu, his voice chilling like frost pounding onto Ying Xiu, unspeakably clear and biting:
