I Only Want To Kill-Chapter 92: Psychotic Detective
Asani takes one last look at the body of her husband. Dominic lies there so peacefully with a smile on his face.
She strikes the matchstick on the side of the coffin and throws it onto the body. Its fire spreads out to the entire corpse, burning it entirely without causing any damage to the wood.
"Goodbye."
Asani says. She lets out a long, long sigh.
What they decided today may not be the best choice. Asani doesn’t know if it was right to take this path.
Whoever that being is, good or bad, now has a tight grasp on her and her family.
Dominic hugs Asani from behind, whispering into her ear.
"Don’t be so sad. I am here after all."
Asani looks at the back of her palm. It is empty, but one moment ago there was a blood-red tattoo on it.
The symbol of the Blood Oath.
They all chose to let Dominic live again. But in doing so, they must surrender their free will.
Well, that is an overstatement. The Wraith only required them to keep everything that they witnessed here to their grave.
But Dominic got a different deal.
The Wraith has asked him to always strive for goodness and kindness as a police officer. Furthermore, it needs a figure to take the helm of the Akansa Police Force.
The Wraith didn’t say it is Dominic outright, but it is very implied.
"I am glad you are back with us, baby."
Asani turns around and hugs her husband’s new body. It is exactly the same as before with the familiar smell she is so used to.
But this is not his body.
The Wraith made a new body in front of their eyes. He then stuffed Dominic’s soul inside it.
All the members of their family had to sign the golden scroll with their blood.
Each of them received a tattoo on the back of their hand. Including Dominic.
"I’m just afraid that it will be too much for you. Too heavy of a burden."
Dominic kisses his wife’s forehead.
"I know it’s scary, baby. It will be hard. But maybe we can finally change this godforsaken city.
With the Wraith’s help, Adam will be taken care of."
"Are you going to be the next Chief of Police?"
"Me? Nah! I’m not that good of a brain. But I already have a perfect candidate in mind."
"Who?"
"My partner. Sebastian Herrera."
After giving Dominic his new body and making all the witnesses sign a Celestial Contract, Blaze returns to where June is.
She is able to stand up now and is slowly walking toward the house. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
June sees Blaze coming out.
"What happened? Are they alright?"
Blaze takes a look at the two cops. One was killed by him. The other was held by Arms of the Broken.
But that second cop is dead now, with a bullet hole between his brains.
Damn this experience stealer!
"They are well. Dominic is well also."
"Dominic? Do you mean?!"
Blaze puts his index finger on June’s lips.
"Shhh. This is a secret between us."
June nods.
Blaze instinctively pats the girl’s head. Her baby face makes him want to treat her like a child. She always looks so helpless and naive.
"Go inside. Meet your hero. If it wasn’t for him, you would’ve been dead."
Blaze says.
"I will! But you are a hero too, Wraith!"
"Me? I’m no hero! I am only the darkness of retribution."
Blaze whistles. Ghostblood dashes over for him to climb up.
"Shall we meet again, little girl!"
Blaze bolts away on horseback. The Lantern of the Damned appears when he crosses the two cops to suck their souls in.
The Wraith and his flaming horse disappear into the night.
June freezes in place, looking in his direction for a long, long time. She holds her hand close to her chest, feeling its beating chaotically.
On the road, Blaze passes by all sorts of vehicles. They all move away for him to go through.
Everyone stops their car and looks out the window, following their gaze to his figure.
At the warehouse, Sebastian loads up his revolver.
He has an old, silver revolver that has accompanied him for more than twenty years. It is his best friend and comrade, following him in and out of battle.
Suddenly, Sebastian feels a tingling inside his heart. He steps aside, hiding behind a metal pole.
Gunshots roar, and bullets strike his original location.
"Give it up, Anderson! I’ll kill you tonight."
Sebastian yells.
"Keep dreaming, Herrera. We have twenty B-ranks with us right now! Even with Psychosis Bullets, you won’t be able to survive this!"
Another voice yells back from the opposite.
"Then I’ll die trying."
Sebastien leaves his cover and aims his gun.
On the other side, another cop in plain clothing is aiming a mini rifle at Sebastian. It wears a tactical vest that is the same around all police officers.
Sebastian’s bullets graze the green force field powered by the vest.
His revolver is a normal revolver. His bullets are normal bullets. But every single one of his shots cracks the force field like it is nothing special.
One bullet even penetrates the barrier and pierces through the dirty cop’s hand, causing him to drop the gun.
Sebastian is methodical and calm, wasting no time to throw out another shot, directly aiming at the other guy’s head.
He has no enhanced aiming like June nor physical prowess like Alyson, all of his attacks are pure skill and muscle memory.
The bullet breaks through the blue force field and digs a hole inside the dirty cop, ending his life.
Sebastian retreats to another cover before he is hit by returning fire.
"Goddamn it, Psycho!
Why are you coming for us?! Didn’t you stay silent for all this time? Why the change of heart?"
The other side yells back at Sebastian.
Psycho. That is the title that Sebastian hasn’t heard for a long, long time. He had a title once when he was young, still eager as the new detective of ACPD.
The full title was Psychotic Detective. A very simple one.
This was created due to his power, Psychosis Bullets. He has no enhancement, no element manipulation, and no other fancy tricks.
The only ability of his power is that his bullets can hurt everything. Anything can be killed, only the number of bullets is different.
The more powerful something is, the more bullets are required.
Once, people even compared him to an A-rank Awakened. They said that even an A-rank won’t be able to defeat him. Nothing escapes Detective Herrera’s barrel.
Sebastian takes out a pack of cigarettes and starts smoking in the middle of the gunfire.
The scorching sensation of the smoke keeps his mind awake and focused. It is bad news for his lungs, but, well, he doesn’t care anymore.
He throws the cigarette away after only one puff and continues advancing.
His enemies hide behind cover, too afraid to be exposed to the Psychosis Bullets. Even a force field that is specialized in dealing with projectiles is completely useless before this power.
"You can’t hide from me. My bullets can pierce this cement all too easily."
Sebastian aims his gun at a cover. But before he’s able to fire, his finger is stopped.
No matter how hard he tries, he cannot pull the trigger.
Sebastian grinds his teeth and immediately steps back to retreat.
Black vines burst out from the ground and lunge forward at Sebastian.
He jumps back, dodging the vines, and pulls out another gun from his waist.
Over there, hiding in darkness, is a bald man wearing a brown cloak of a priest. Two spheres of pink energy cover the guy’s palm.
He’s the one that prevented Sebastian from shooting.
Sebastian discovers his location and immediately attacks the guy.
Another woman appears. She is huge, exceeding two meters tall, with muscle bulging out of her flesh. She looks like a monster on steroids.
The big woman carries a large metal shield. She steps in front of the bald man to cover him with his shield.
Sebastian’s bullets do not penetrate the shield but bounce all over.
Sebastian can see people closing in from all directions. He ducks down behind a pole to breathe.
"Stop resisting and die, Herrera!
We know mental powers don’t work on you, so we invite some people here.
You feel that invisible force prevents you from firing, yeah?
How’s the taste of telekinesis?"
"Heh. Minor Telekinesis at best. If it was A-rank Telekinesis, we wouldn’t be talking right now."
Sebastian lets out a sarcastic laugh.
"Maybe... But that is enough to neutralize your Psychosis Bullets! You will die here, Herrera!"
Sebastian reloads his two guns. One is a revolver, while the other is a semi-automatic.
His power doesn’t work pretty well with modern guns, but the fire rate of the semi is very good, enough to make up for the firepower.
"Well, then let’s see how many of you will die before taking me out."
The enemies keep closing in from everywhere. Sebastian cocks his gun, ready to fight to his last breath.
But then, thunder roars.
The glass ceiling from above breaks into pieces. A red lightning strike comes down, revealing a shadow figure.
Its ragged cloak is flapping in the wind.
