Living Only For Myself: Make Those Who Hate Me Regret It-Chapter 160: Why Does Every Single One of Them Love to Pressure Her
The sun hadn’t set yet, so the light was perfect. After Xu Su pushed him away, she got a clear look at the young man’s reaction.
Xu Su quickly averted her gaze. She felt a wave of unease wash over her.
’Weren’t they supposed to be in a pure, innocent campus romance?’
’What was all this?!’
Xi Zirong, however, showed no signs of shyness. He expertly concealed the desire in his eyes, a small smile playing on his lips. "It’d be abnormal if I *didn’t* have a reaction. Have you forgotten? I came of age a long time ago."
He reached out and stroked her reddened ear, his voice softening. "I’ve always wanted you to know how much I want you, Xu Su. Don’t treat me like a kid. I’m your boyfriend."
’How could he tell her? Tell her about the endless fantastical dreams of his youth, where she always appeared, and where he would pin her beneath him without a second thought.’
’I’m your boyfriend...’
Xu Su, who had lived for a grand total of thirty-two years between her past and present lives, was only just now understanding what those two words—"your boyfriend"—truly meant.
She had always seen Xi Zirong as the boy who would blush after a little teasing. She never imagined his mind was filled with... *that*.
Xu Su snatched her ear back and covered it with her hand. She sat down on a rock, looking utterly defeated. "Xi Zirong, don’t be like that. We’re still young."
"Mm..." He squatted down beside her and pulled her into his arms again, coaxing her gently. "I wasn’t trying to do anything. I just like you so much."
He asked, as if it were a casual question, "Susu, what did you do with him at lunchtime?"
Xu Su stiffened, her mind flashing to the photos on Zhou Mochen’s phone and his absurd comments.
He cupped her face, forcing her to meet his gaze. "Tell me. What did you do when you went out for lunch?"
"..." Xu Su felt a surge of guilt and irritation. ’Why does everyone love to pressure me?!’
’Zhou Mochen was like this, and now Xi Zirong was, too.’
’He seemed so calm and gentle, but his possessiveness was off the charts.’ Xu Su’s head began to throb.
Seeing her frown and remain silent, Xi Zirong’s gaze darkened. "Did he kiss you? Xu Su, did you let him kiss you?"
Xu Su shot him a glare. Seeing the look on his face, she instinctively retorted, "No, I didn’t! Xi Zirong, stop this!"
He stared at her for a long time before his brow finally relaxed. He lowered his head to give her a small kiss, his tone reverting to its usual aggrieved pout. "Don’t see him again, Susu. Am I not enough for you? Why do you need to go out and see other men?"
Xu Su let out a soft breath. For the first time, she felt pressured by Xi Zirong.
This young man was changing at an astonishing rate. Xu Su felt her headache returning. She tried to explain, "Didn’t I tell you before? I plan on making things clear with him after the college entrance exams. Xi Zirong, please don’t be like you were just now. It’s... a little scary."
He paused, then let out a soft chuckle. "Like what? You’re scared of me for asking you to see me as a man?"
Before Xu Su could say a word, he pressed close again, pulling her into his embrace.
His voice was a soft whisper. "Don’t be afraid. I was just so jealous. The thought of you meeting another man alone, maybe being held by him, or kissed... Susu, it hurts so much I could die."
Xu Su’s heart clenched, and she instinctively hugged him back. "No, no, he didn’t hold me at lunch. Xi Zirong, please don’t be in pain."
"Mm." Xi Zirong kissed the crown of her head, clearly soothed by her reassurance. "It doesn’t hurt anymore. If you keep your distance from all other men from now on, I won’t be in pain. I’m very petty. Don’t let anyone else get close to you."
"..." Xu Su didn’t say anything. The request was, frankly, a little absurd.
’Don’t let anyone else get close...’
’It’s not like she lived in a vacuum. How could she possibly keep everyone else from approaching her?’
Xu Su tried to reassure herself. ’Maybe it’s just because this is his first relationship. A little possessiveness is normal.’
’As he gets older, he’ll definitely become more normal... right?’
Their trip to the woods had one major consequence: Xu Su’s arms were now covered in several large mosquito bites.
While there were mosquitoes on campus, they were nowhere near as vicious as the ones in the mountain woods.
Evening study hall had just begun when Xu Su couldn’t resist the urge to scratch. Xi Zirong, sitting beside her, noticed something was amiss. Following her hand with his eyes, he saw the large welts on her arm.
Xu Su had fair skin. Even though she wore short sleeves every day, her arms hadn’t tanned much, making the red, swollen welts look particularly alarming. Xi Zirong grabbed her scratching hand, his voice tense. "What happened?"
Xu Su slapped his hand away and said irritably, "It’s your fault! I told you I was afraid of mosquitoes! I kept telling you the whole way there, but you ignored me and insisted on dragging me into the woods!"
Her voice wasn’t exactly quiet. The students at the desks in front and behind them all snapped their heads up, and without exception, their eyes were sparkling with curiosity.
Xu Su: "..."
She finally realized what she’d just said, and her face began to turn crimson.
Xi Zirong tapped his desk. "Focus on your homework," he told the surrounding students.
Look at him, so calm and collected. He wasn’t the least bit embarrassed that their classmates now knew they’d had a rendezvous in the woods.
’In fact, Xu Su suspected he wished he could announce it to the world and make sure every student and teacher in the school knew she was his girlfriend.’
’Though, at this point, they pretty much all knew anyway...’
While Xu Su’s thoughts were still drifting, Xi Zirong’s brows were knitted in a tight frown, his eyes full of self-reproach. "I’ll go buy you some cream."
He stood up and walked right out of the classroom, ignoring the fact that class was in session.
Xu Su, who hadn’t been quick enough to stop him: "..."
’Was it really that urgent? He could have just waited until after study hall to go buy it.’
But then, the stinging itch on her arm seemed to answer her question.
’It was...’
Xi Zirong was gone for a good half hour before he returned. He’d bought three tubes of ointment and even tried to apply it for her.
Xu Su refused. "I can do it myself."
’With so many classmates around, how could she possibly let Xi Zirong put the cream on for her?’
’Not even on her arm!’ 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Xu Su insisted on doing it herself, and Xi Zirong didn’t press the issue, merely staring at the welts on her arm with a dark expression.
Even after Xu Su had finished applying the cream, she noticed he was still staring. She was a little exasperated. "They’re just a few mosquito bites. It’s not a big deal, don’t look like that."
She could tell that Xi Zirong felt terrible about her mosquito-bitten arm and was blaming himself for ignoring her protests and dragging her into the woods.
"I’m sorry. We’re never going back to that damn place again." Xi Zirong’s words were full of revulsion for the woods. He asked, "Does that cream work?"
He had bought three different kinds of ointment, and one of them was the same brand Xu Su had used since she was a child. She nodded. "I’ve been a mosquito magnet since I was little. My grandma always used this kind of cream on me. It works really well. The welts will be gone by tomorrow, at the latest."
Xu Su reassured him, "These bites look scary, but they’ll get better quickly after putting the cream on."
