I Only Want To Kill-Chapter 90: And it begins
Blaze walks out of the door and instantly teleports to a random location.
This time he is below an old, broken-down bridge.
Blaze closes his eyes, connecting his vision to Isaac. He can now see the entire warehouse from the bird’s-eye view above.
Fly around.
Blaze telepathically orders Isaac. The raven flies around to see the entire structure.
It is an abandoned warehouse on the far side of Akansa, near the radio tower that Blaze killed the Flying Saurus.
There are a lot of boxes lying around the warehouse with several police trucks standing around. They’re trying to move something.
Isaac drops down on one of the boxes and uses his beak to dig into the cardboard layer. Inside are stacks of high-tech weapons and guns.
It looks like they’re arming up for a war. A war with whom is what Blaze ponders.
He opens his eyes again. Traveling by foot by using Lightning Ascension will be faster but quickly diminishing his stamina and stored electricity.
Sebastian is doing pretty well himself. No need for Blaze to interfere at the moment.
Blaze lets out a high-pitched whistle, summoning Mitsuhiro from afar.
Keep an eye on Herrera, Isaac. If he needs my help, call me.
I’m on it, Master.
A moment soon passes, and the flaming horse appears again. However, Mitsuhiro seems a bit weird this time.
His fiery eyes keep looking Blaze up and down.
"What’s the matter?"
Blaze says.
"There’s something on you that feels very tasty."
Blaze takes out all the Extractions he is currently holding. After exchanging most of his pills, he only withholds three pills each for the original three Cores. Along with them are five Cloud Drifter’s Extraction Pills and three Lion’s King Extraction Pills.
Erin even gifted him a pill pouch specially made for storing Extractions.
"Which one are you attracted to?"
"The green one! And the brown one!"
Mitsuhiro jumps up and down with his huge horse body.
"The Specter’s Extraction and Wood Revenant’s Extraction? You want to eat it?"
"Yes, Wraith! It gives out a very nice smell."
What is this reaction? He seems like he’s seeing the best meal of his life.
Blaze says. He doesn’t even know a soul can eat. Maybe it is because these two Cores belonged to Crisis that were able to transform to a half-spirit state.
Is there some sort of Affinity between an Ethereal Soul and these kinds of monsters.
Blaze throws one Wood Revenant’s Extraction Pill toward Mitsuhiro. The horse jumps up and catches the pill in mid-air, swallowing it with one motion.
[Your Ethereal Slave (Ghostblood) has consumed the Wood Revenant’s Extraction]
[Ghostblood has learned the power Astral Form (C-rank)]
[Astral Form (C-rank): You can now phase through solid objects.]
Brown energy drifts out of Mitsuhiro’s nostrils, he becomes semi-transparent with black smoke exuding out of his hooves.
Blaze reaches his hand out to touch Mitsuhiro, but all he can grasp is a palm of black smoke.
"Interesting."
Ethereal Slaves is a physical being and is able to interact with the world, but in contrast, they lose the ability to phase through objects in their soul form.
"Can you deactivate this power?"
Answering Blaze’s are horse noises. Mitsuhiro shakes his mane, and the transparent state disappears, returning him to normal, allowing Blaze to touch Mitsuhiro again.
Mitsuhiro gets familiar with his new role bizarrely well.
"I have some idea. Let us test it."
Blaze climbs onto Mitsuhiro, and they ride away.
Ghostblood becomes semi-transparent, and in doing so, also causes Blaze to lose his opacity.
They both run into the bridge structure and completely phase through it, appearing on the other side.
"Hah! So it does work? Let’s go, Mitsuhiro! It’s time to rain terror on this city!"
"Alright, Wraith. But when we’re outside, call me by my new name. Ghostblood!"
"As you wish! On we go, Ghostblood!"
The flaming horse and its shadow rider dash in the night.
People see them on the road, all are starstruck. Some are in shock. Others are afraid.
Most don’t even believe in their eyes. In the end, their illusive looks make people lose their minds. They don’t know if their eyes are deceiving them.
Outside of Dominic Renly’s house, June stands on the opposite road. She stands there still for hours without moving.
She did say to Kana that they will meet here in the afternoon. But she couldn’t bring herself to meet the widow.
She feels guilty. It is, in the end, part of her responsibility that Dominic died in the Void, without the chance to see his family again.
And then she sees some men entering Dominic’s house. Five men in total.
June even sees their waist bulge up a bit, a clear sign that they are concealing a weapon.
"What is going on?"
June has a bad feeling about this. She immediately gets rid of her hesitation and walks toward the house.
She cannot just stand by and see a Renly being harmed again.
But then, a patrol car stops exactly before her, preventing her from going over to the other side of the street.
Two cops walk out.
"What are you doing here in the night, Miss?"
The cops wear their uniform with tactical black vests on their bodies. On the right side of their waist are their gun holsters, while Electons are being strapped on the left.
"Oh. Nothing, officers. I’m just visiting a friend."
June walks around them, intending to investigate Renly’s house.
One cop steps forward, stopping her in her tracks again.
"May I see some ID, please?"
"What? I didn’t even do anything wrong?"
June is flabbergasted, she extends her distance from them, but the cops immediately get closer.
"Then you should have no problems giving us your ID. Show us your power badge."
"Am I being arrested?"
June says.
"Of course not, Miss. But please show us your ID."
"If I’m not being arrested, then I would like to decline. Please step out of the way."
"Are you disobeying our orders? We can take you in for resisting arrest."
"You just said that I am not being arrested!"
"But you are resisting order, Miss. If you have nothing to hide, then show us your ID."
"What is this logic?! Look, there are some suspicious men who just entered that house. They brought weapons. You should give the house a look."
"The house is none of your business, Miss. Now please comply."
A woman’s scream rings out from the opposite house.
June immediately slips between the cops and runs to it.
"You heard that? They are in danger, we need to help them!"
Suddenly, June feels a numbing sensation enter the side of her waist. The muscles inside her entire body constrict, and she falls down onto the ground.
"What... are you..."
A cop sits down on her and begins to pat her down. He quickly finds a gun on her. But he doesn’t stop there and keeps his hand on her waist, rubbing it gently.
"What... Stop..." June weakly says.
"Carrying a concealed weapon in the night. What are you even trying to do, girl? We have to check you carefully to make sure you don’t carry anything dangerous."
"That’s right. We’re going to strip you down completely, girl. We need to investigate why you are resisting our orders."
The two cops laugh hysterically. Their dirty smiles tell June all she needs to know.
They know exactly what is going on. But they are purposefully stopping her. Dominic’s family is in danger.
June grits her teeth and tries to break free. But the cop shoves the Electon on her back again, causing her entire body to convulse in pain.
"You filthy cops!"
June is able to let out one last remark before her mouth freezes up due to the electricity.
"Oh? You know how filthy we are really... really soon!"
The cop grins from ear to ear. June closes her eyes, waiting for her shameful fate to come.
But in the end, she doesn’t worry about her well-being. She is only afraid of what might happen to Renly’s family. She fails to save him. Now, she fails to protect his family.
But then, the galloping sound of the horse fills the space.
"Huh? What is that"?
June can hear the surprise tone in his voice.
And then thunder roars, a red streak comes from afar and strikes the cop that is pinning her.
He gets sent away, slamming on the side of the patrol car.
June immediately opens her eyes, standing before her is now the shadowy figure she once met in the Void. The creature that saved her.
It looks slightly different from before, riding a flaming skeletal horse of red.
The other cop pisses his pants and falls to his butt.
"The... The Wraith... No!"
His voice is filled with fear.
The Wraith looks down at June. It shows a haunting and enraged smile.
"We meet again, little girl."
