I Only Want To Kill-Chapter 67: Focus Breath

Blaze clenches his fist and temporarily unequips the Tattered Cloak.

He wants to take a look at what his arms have become.

The muscles on the arms are relatively the same, only more defined and angular, similar to a statue that was carved out by an artist.

The skin on them is also smoother, freshly clean, and gleaming under moonlight.

When Blaze tenses up his arms, every muscle bulges up and reveals all the veins under the skin.

The tendon even glows up slightly in a yellow shade, showing the hidden electricity running inside it.

You won some, you lost some.

Force Blast power was fused into his bone so that Blaze could withstand more force shooting out of his flesh.

But now the focus of his power has changed from the invisible force to lightning, all the strength and energy inside the bone got moved to the tendon and the flesh instead.

It is now where most of the energy of the Thunder Force resides.

"There is still work to be done."

Blaze mumbles. He still has a Superpower Blindbox that is yet to open.

A lightning power can easily be associated with the Wraith, so he needs another power to register at the Awakened League.

Blaze hopes that this B-rank power will be suitable to register.

Or else he may have to register the Sun Bird since the Liberty Sons have seen him using it.

"Open the Superpower Blindbox!"

Blaze says.

The pair of lungs inside Blaze starts to pulsate uncontrollably. They overdrive his natural breathing patterns and do their best to suck in as much air around them as possible.

White lines of breezes start to form around Blaze and create a mini cyclone with him in the middle.

Wind flows into Blaze’s open mouth, it screeches through the air and screams out high-pitched sounds.

Blaze’s lungs feel like they’re exploding as they start to inflate.

He sits on his knees and does his best to regulate this unnatural breathing.

But he cannot do anything else except inhale. The mini cyclone gets bigger and bigger until it entirely envelops Blaze inside a wall of sand.

This is a desert, after all, and sand is everywhere.

When the wind starts blowing, the sand particles also get picked up and swept away with the air.

They follow the streaks of wind and go inside Blaze’s lung.

He feels a sharpness inside his chest. The aching pair of lungs now feels even more anguish as the dust particles bounce around inside.

If Blaze keeps going on like this, the metamorphosis may be completed, but his lungs will get destroyed for sure.

He has to do something.

Lightning bolts shoot out from his arms and decimate the surrounding area. The lightning creates shockwaves whenever it hits something.

Blaze tries to use these shockwaves to push all the dirty particles away from his cyclone, preventing the lungs from absorbing these harmful substances.

It works to an extent, and the sand is pushed away. But instead of purifying the air, it adds another layer of electrical energy to it.

The clean white breezes that are going inside Blaze’s mouth are mixed with bits and pieces of electricity.

The burning energy of the lightning enters Blaze’s lungs.

It is awful but is much better than when those sand particles enter his body. The electricity even purifies that filthy dust and crushes them to ash, pushing them out.

The mutation may get out of hand, and Blaze won’t know what his actual power will be like. But he accepts it.

It is better to do this than to absorb contaminated air that will hinder the superpower integration.

And then, along with the air, the yellow lightning that is exuding from Blaze also gets sucked inside his mouth.

Blaze is breathing lightning now.

This, obviously, makes the process much more painful than it normally is.

Blaze can feel his insides burning from the lightning. Black smoke flows out of his nose and joins the surrounding cyclone.

Pure energy of air and yellow lightning goes inside his mouth, and then black smoke pours out of his nostril, joining the cyclone only to be inhaled back in.

It creates a closed circulation where the energy from the air and electricity is being consumed, then the wasted heat and smoke are fused with the surrounding cyclone and return back to Blaze once more.

This loop keeps on going and going.

His lungs feel like they rearrange themselves and enlarge so much that the outline of these organs is visible from the outside.

Yellow energy of lightning and white energy of air combine with each other, creating a light green power that runs across his body.

Tiny, gleaming green dots run in Blaze’s veins, slowly preparing his body for the Focus Breath and integrating the new superpower.

And then it finally stops after twenty minutes.

The cyclone dissipates like it was never there. The wind calms down, and the sand falls on the ground.

A pool of black smoke covers Blaze’s face. Yellow electricity around his hand disappears.

These short twenty minutes were a true challenge to his endurance. Not only does Blaze have to go through the metamorphosis process, but he even has to maintain the Thunder Force to make sure it keeps the sand particles out.

Blaze feels tired when it ends.

But then, a surge of energy takes over Blaze.

Suddenly, his body turns into a lightning bolt and dashes away at an unimaginable speed.

In the blink of an eye, he’s already traveled more than ten meters, leaving a streak of lightning in his path.

The new B-rank power also grants an enhancement to Blaze’s attributes.

The corresponding attribute of the new Focus Breath is Endurance.

All powers grant an attribute enhancement at C-rank. Focus Breath is higher than C-rank, so Blaze received an enhancement as well.

He should receive another enhancement at A-rank when he upgrades this power.

Blaze then opens his mouth wide, sucking in all the air in the surrounding area. All the air particles vibrate on a microscopic level, energy gets sucked out from them, and phases into Blaze’s lungs.

He then traps these energies inside by holding his breath.
