I Can Tame Everything!-Chapter 18: Arcane’s Grand Debut
Chapter 18 - Arcane's Grand Debut
"Which kid brought that goddamn tiger beast into our camp?!" a man roared through clenched teeth, his tone seething with venomous hatred.
Rex, who had just closed his weary eyes, forced them open again. Still lying down, he turned his gaze toward the source of the shouting.
It was none other than the bandit boss—Mork.

Rex struggled to his feet, his movements sluggish and strained. a flicker of irritation crossed his golden eyes as he faced Mork.
Mork strolled toward Rex with an air of confidence, his steps unhurried despite the crimson-soaked cloth wrapped around his right arm.
As their eyes met, Mork growled, "I'll make you suffer for ten days, one for each of the eight men I lost." His gaze turned cold as he slowly closed the distance between them.
And then, his legs froze, too terrified to take another step.
Arcane's eyes flashed with lightning as it gazed at Mork, he immediately sensed danger. The overwhelming pressure crashed onto him, his eyes zoomed in on the majestic purple bird flying in circles...
...Who had just been happily soaring through the sky, enjoying her freedom.
Without a second thought, Mork bolted in the direction he came from, desperate to escape. However, his speed was so slow that even Rex could have easily caught up to him.
With his battered body, the only force that had driven him toward the village was revenge—revenge against the weak kid who had led that damned beast, that took his right arm and his men.
{Don't kill. I still have use for him.} Rex calmly instructed.
SCREECH!
A thunderous cry echoed, daring for anyone to come closer to her father.
And then...
ZAP!
A lightning bolt shot out from her, its crackling sound lost amidst the deafening screech.
The unleashed lightning bolt drove directly into the man's leg. Impaired, he fell on his left shoulder, twisting his torso at last moment to save his right side from additional pain.

Rex, who wanted to smirk, couldn't do so because of the old man's punch still stinging him. Shaking his head, he slowly walked toward the fallen man.
{Another lightning bolt, please.}
Swoosh!
Rex's hair danced slightly as he uttered those words telepathically. Another lightning bolt zapped through the air, piercing the man's left leg. before dug into the muddy ground.
Shing
"Aaahhh!"
[Progress 65%]
Rex heard Mork's agonizing shriek and sat down beside him as the man lay struggling on the ground.
Pulling out his dagger, he pressed it against Mork's neck. A small drop of crimson blood trickled down from the tip of the blade.
"Please spare me. I-I'll leave this place at once," Mork pleaded while carefully turning his head to look at Rex and then...
ZAP
However, before the lightning struck, Mork had pulled out a short sword, attempting to harm Rex. But Rex, already expecting such a move, was prepared. But, before the sword could reach his neck, and before Rex could even react...
ZAP!
The lightning descended, striking Mork's hand with frightening speed and precision.
"AAAhhhh!"
[Progress 85%]
Rex blinked and gradually tilted his head to look at Arcane, who was flying toward him.
{Did I do good, father?}
{Y-yes, you did good.}
Figuratively, Rex's jaw dropped. Even through his pain, he was stunned by just how strong a Spirit Rank 2-star was—and even more so by Arcane, his tamed beast.
"I'm sorry... P-please, spare me... I'm begging you," the man pleaded, somehow painfully managing to get into a kowtowing position.
As Rex sat in front of him, Arcane slowly flew over and landed gracefully on his shoulders.
How is he even alive? Rex mused.
From Darius's eyes, who craved the same strength, this scene looked imposingly majestic as he watched everything unfold in awe...
The man kowtowing, Rex sitting grandly, and Arcane slowly landing on his shoulders... Darius's unblinking eyes took it all in.
"Just who is he?" Darius muttered under his breath, his voice barely audible.

Unaware that the next moment a wall of text would flood his vision.

Rex raised an eyebrow but quickly dismissed the wall of text along with system's prompt. As the pain in his jaw flared, fogging his mind, he realized he couldn't focus on it now.
He just wanted to absorb the mana from Mork, hoping to ease his pain.
The man was still begging for his life. "...Please, lord, spare me... I can do anything you want," he pleaded, his head pressed to the ground in a kowtow.
"..."
A ruthless gleam flashed in Rex's eyes. Without answering to Mork's pleas, he drew his dagger and pierced the man's nape as he remained in a kowtow.
"Begg—"
Splurt...
Mork, already on the verge of death, succumbed without a sound.
As he agreed, Rex saw the golden orb materialize beside him.
Sluggishly, he lifted his arm to grab it, and as his fingers made contact...
A surge of strong, refreshing mana gushed into him, the amount twice as much as what he had absorbed from orbs of mortals.
As the refreshing mana rushed in, his nerves began to calm with no danger around, a soothing warmth wrapping around him. The built-up exhaustion, both mental and physical, overwhelmed him, his eyelids growing heavier.
Rex mused, Why doesn't devouring happen on its own? With that lingering thought, his exhausted body slumped to the ground before he could fully close his eyes.
Through his fading vision, Rex saw Darius and the villagers running toward him, his focus narrowing to their legs. Finally, he fell into a deep, sound sleep, free of care in the world.
