I Can Contract Beauties-Chapter 163: Twilight Sisters
The two women looked very identical to each other. If it were not for their varying clothes, Miguel would have thought that he was seeing a clone of the other.
The one on the left was wearing black armor, while the other wore a white version of it. They both wore purple-colored, sexy skirts, revealing their long and slender legs.
Two short daggers hang on both of their waists, one on each side. They were made of the same materials and had the same appearance and design.
They had black hair that was only as long as their shoulders. They had both amethyst eyes that looked dazzling, yet at the same time, gloomy. They were also very pretty, and their beauty was something that was at the top of the list.
They don’t lose to Erika in terms of beauty at all.
With an appearance like this, it would be a guarantee that a lot of people would swoon towards them.
However, a strange situation occurred as the two of them stood right behind the waiter that was ordered by Maras to fetch them earlier.
Although he was in front, he seemed to be maintaining a certain distance from the twin. Miguel even noticed that he was a little bit fidgety, as though he did not want to be there anymore.
The same could be seen with the other customers around them. They looked at the two of them with a hint of fear in their eyes.
Maras waved his hand to dismiss the waiter. He then began to introduce the twin to Journey.
"They’re collectively called the Twilight Sisters," Maras stated. He pointed at the one with black armor and said, "She’s Luna, and the other one is Nova."
"Elder Journey, if you want to obtain fresh Flame Fruit as soon as possible, then they are the best mercenaries that I know that could fulfill the task without fail."
"Guys, this is Elder Journey. He’s the new elder of the Red Family. You can talk to him in detail regarding the commission," he added.
The twins looked at each other and nodded their heads.
The one wearing the black armor, Luna, took a half-step forward and asked, "If it’s just the Flame Fruit, then we can end up getting them for you. However, old man Maras, have you already told them our real situation?"
Nova nodded her head in agreement. "We can’t have them bailing out at the last second if they knew our situation late."
"Situation?" Miguel could not help but turn his head at Maras, as he did not explain anything to him at all.
Hearing that, Maras was also a little bit embarrassed. He bowed his head to Miguel as he stroked his beard and said, "I apologize for forgetting it, Elder Journey. I got carried with what we’ve talk-"
"Ehemm. I mean, I forgot about it, as it was not something important in my opinion."
"Elder Journey it’s like this. The Twilight sisters have a well-known reputation in Blazing City. Although known for their efficiency and expertise, both of them were also famous for being too unlucky. They were too unlucky to the point that there were rumors spreading around that they could spread their bad luck to people they interacted with for an extended period of time."
Miguel’s curiosity was piqued the moment he heard that. It was only now that he realized the waiter was fidgety and why the other customers looked at the two of them as if they were seeing a great plague.
"However, I personally don’t believe it. I have commissioned them with a lot of requests since the moment I knew them, and I have interacted with them a few times already, but I still haven’t experienced any bad luck over the years," Maras said proudly as he beat his chest at the top of the stool.
Hearing that, though, Miguel and Edith could not help but look at him with side eyes. It was only earlier that they knew that he was experiencing pain in his navel area and that he hadn’t had sex for forty years. Wasn’t that kind of bad luck already?
Referencing that, Miguel also thought that the twins’ situation might be real and not just rumors like Maras was saying.
As a cultivator in his previous life, Miguel obviously believes in things such as luck and fate. Fortuitous encounters were considered fortuitous encounters because they could only be encountered by those who had luck and fate to obtain them.
Miguel was not worried, though. He would only have to interact with them once for the Flame Fruit request anyway. Unless they had extremely bad luck, he did not believe that their bad luck would spread and affect him that quickly. Even if it ever does so, he still knew multiple ways to counter it.
Luna and Nova’s expressions softened after hearing Maras trying to defend them. They had been ostracized throughout the city due to their reputation. Nowadays, none of the mercenary groups would even dare accept them.
"We also don’t believe that we are the source of the bad luck. It’s just everywhere we go; there will always be an accident and some unforeseen things happening. For example, when we plucked some Flame Fruits before, a Fire Salamander suddenly attacked because it just so happened that the Flame Fruit that we were harvesting was actually guarded by it, so it got mad and attacked us. See, it’s just a coincidence that it was guarding the Flame Fruit that we wanted to harvest." Nova tried to defend themselves with a pout, but instead of clearing their reputation, it ended up having the opposite effect to those who heard it.
Luna at the side was already trying to shush her to stop her from talking anymore. She elbowed her lightly and covered her mouth with her hand to stop her from talking.
She looked at ’Journey’ and said, "Elder, if you don’t mind, then we can accept your request. Rest assured that we will deliver your Flame Fruit in two days at most. Right, how many do you need?"
It was a rare occurrence that someone was willing to hire them for work; hence, she realized that they must not pass up on this opportunity. Doing menial tasks just doesn’t suit the two of them as they prefer fighting than doing household chores or finding someone’s cat.
Miguel did not think too much about it and stated, "Although the matter regarding your luck is indeed troublesome if true, I am not afraid of it. As for the Flame Fruit, I don’t know the price, but if you can get me at least 2, then that would be for the best."
Maras and the twins breathed a sigh of relief after hearing his response. They thought that he would decline like many others after hearing about their condition, but it seems that they got worried for nothing.
Maras thought that it was only normal for someone as strong as ’Journey’ to not care about being affected by an ambigous thing such as luck, while the twins thought that the only reason he agreed was because he still didn’t know the terror that their bad luck could bring.
"The current market price for a single Flame Fruit is 1 Silver Coin. A single Flame Fruit is around the size of two fists. A Flame Vine can only bear 1 Flame Fruit on their entire life. After the Flame Fruit is harvested, the vine would also wither in a few days."
"Nowadays, one would already be considered lucky if they could find three Flame Fruits after an entire day of searching," Maras explained truthfully.
Hearing that, Miguel nodded his head and stated, "I’ll buy 2, then. If you happen to get more, then don’t worry about it, as I’d still buy it. If you happen to satisfy me with this request, though, then perhaps I might commission you guys for some other matter in the future."
At this moment, as he still wanted to read as much knowledge as possible, he still doesn’t plan to go out and explore the world yet.
Since this world was operating in a way that anyone could hire a mercenary for anything, it would be a shame if he did not take advantage of it.
Nova’s eyes lit up in hope upon hearing Miguel’s words. Luna, on the other hand, merely nodded her head. How many times had they heard of such words already?
"Alright, we’ll be back as soon as possible," Luna stated before leaving with Nova.
"Sigh, I actually pity those two girls situations.I want to help them as much as possible, but they would always reject my kindness and would just want to work their arse off instead of just receiving help directly," Maras suddenly lamented as the twins figure disappeared from their view. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Miguel could tell that Maras was telling the truth and that he had nothing but pure intentions for the two of them. He wondered what had happened before for the two of them to gain such a bad reputation in the whole city.
