The first one to notice something was a guard posted at the east.

"What's that sound?" the man asked, looking around in confusion.

He quickly get his answer when he looked East, though when he learned of the origin of the sound, he wished he did not.

"Monster!" he yelled, before being the first one to be killed.

The yelling warned the others of the incoming monsters, allowing them to raise their weapon. That, however, was not enough as the ferocity of the monsters overwhelmed the other guards, leading to a quick slaughter.

The two A-rankers left behind raised their heads at the same time, their eyes on the direction of screaming.

The first thing they thought, when they laid their eyes on the monsters was, how terrifying they looked.

The second one being, they needed to move quickly, or they will all die.

"Shield!/Barrier!"

They yelled two different things, but with nearly the same outcome.

Soldiers bearing large shields took to the frontline with some mages casting Mana Barrier to enhance the defense of the armies.

With their defense raised, the soldiers get into formation, as spearman took spots behind the shield-bearers, while archers and mages prepared to unleash both arrows and Spells upon the monsters.

Though, when the soldiers get a good look on the monsters, they all flinched, their faces showing sign of terrors, not unlike their leaders.

The monsters looked like Kobold, except more feral, aggressive, terrifying, and many other adjectives related to it. Their eyes either blood red or pitch black, causing some of the weaker soldiers to fall on their rump.

The two A-rankers did not chide their soldiers, understanding why they were so afraid in the first place.

"Fire!"

Despite their fear, the soldiers did not hesitate once given order. In fact, they were glad for it, as it allow them to kill the source of their fear and things that will haunt their future nightmare.

Arrows and Spells flew towards the charging monsters. Some landed, though most did not as the monsters evaded the attack.

As the Kobolds reached the Mana Barrier, they clawed at it, only to be stopped by the barrier. They snarled and growled at the soldiers in front of them, causing not a few to flinch from the terrifying visage of the monsters up close.

"Don't waver! As long as you are behind the Mana Barrier, the monsters could not kill you!" One of the A-rankers yelled, trying to raise morale, for it drop, the soldiers likely flee all over the place, routing, and allowing the monsters to kill them for sports.

The order of the A-ranker was received, and the soldiers, once cowering in fear, managed to calm themselves.

However, the calm did not last long as a larger Kobold walk to the front. Despite Spells and arrows raining down on them, the large Kobold did not bat an eye, even slapping some of the arrows like they were nothing.

Once it reached the Mana Barrier, it snarled, before letting a hissed growl. It breath must have been either corrosive or hot, as the part where it breath at smolder and sizzle.

The sight of their best line of defense being destroyed spook the soldiers, along with their leaders, who quickly took charge.

"Target the large Kobold!" the order resulted in arrows and Spells raining down on the massive Kobold, yet, it did not flinch even when other of its kind began to flee.

Instead, it barked furiously before clawing at the Mana Barrier. The Mana Barrier lasted for seconds before it broke apart, to the horror of the soldiers, including the two A-rankers.

"A-rank Kobold!" one of the A-rankers yelled as he leap towards the monster. The other A-ranker followed suit, as both, without talking or planning, knew that killing the A-rank monster would stabilize the battlefield.

Yet, before the slower A-ranker could reach his counterpart, another Kobold jumped in front of him, releasing Aura as powerful as him.

"Another A-rank Kobold!?" the A-ranker yelled in horror. The horror grew as more Kobold, ones sharing the same appearance as the two A-rank Kobolds, just a little smaller in stature, emerged from the ranks of the monsters.

The realization of things growing sideways only made more apparent as other Kobold, weaker, but still a threat, walked to the front.

They all are B-rank Kobolds, weaker than the other, but not something that can be easily handled by a group of D-rank soldiers, requiring other B-rank or a group of elite C-rank to defeat them.

As for the rest and majority of the pack of Kobold, they are the weakest, except, the weakest are all C-rank Kobold, and their numbers at least reached 1 000. Making them equal to an army of 10 000 D-rank soldiers, the very least.

"Re-" before he could give any order, the A-rank Kobold swipe its paw at him, forcing the A-ranker to block it.

Knowing giving order while fighting an opponent equal to him in strength would be impossible, the A-ranker focused on his current foe, trying to kill it as quickly as possible.

But even though he wanted to believe victory would be his, the man could not put his heart and mind to it, for the number of elites of the other sides far surpass his, and likely, result in the armies being killed.

'I'm sorry, my Lord.' The man thought, knowing, when the Duke exit the Hexun Cavern, he will be greeted by monsters instead of them.

'At least, let me take one of them down at the very least!' fire return into his eyes, as the A-ranker fought back the Kobold, returning its previous growl as he tried to at least send one to the afterlife with him.

Alros watched as the Feral Kobold Lineage tore through the armies of Hex Duchy and Ravus Kingdom.

The ferocity of this variant of Kobold prove to be both their strength and undoing.

"They too ferocious to control for someone who did not have the necessary strength." He commented.

The Demon Lord winced as one of the Raging Kobold, Feral Kobold A-rank variant, were killed. Losing an A-ranker, both monsters and mortals, pained him, as it is hard to nurture them.

"At least, it's proved that even with Demonification, the different variants of monsters would still be a great asset."
