I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 75: Getting late
Chapter 75: Getting late
Arlen looked at his cards and then up at Ravi who had a small smile on his face. "Just...Just how is this possible?"
His eyes were round and filled with shock, Ravi just knew he would be painting this expression over and over again this week.
"Are you saying that you did not think that it was possible for me to win?" he leaned back and looked at him.
Arlen shook his head, swallowing, "I didn’t. I didn’t say that." But he thought about it. He looked at Ravi and saw that his eyes were bright with mischief. He was enjoying this, that gray seemed to depart from the color of burnt ash to basalt, the gold warmer.
Ravi raised an eyebrow to state that he did not believe him, he sipped the drink which unusually stayed cold, no matter how much time passed.
"Fine. But how...Okay. You won. But I just taught you this right now. You are amazing, Ravi."
Ravi could not accept the praise, "No. This time, I was not amazing. This time I cheated." His face was blank like he was talking about the weather.
"You..."
"Cheated." Ravi nodded. A favor was just too tempting. It was the ordinary word that most Earthian was, a favor was a contract that you beheld to another. He was a Sentinel, well ex-Sentinel but the moment he heard that word, he knew he just had to win.
Arlen was still so shocked, "But how can you cheat in this game." ƒгeewebnovёl.com
"A secret." Ravi placed a finger on his mouth while watching Arlen, his expressions can be so animated. He collected the cards and revealed a somewhat mischievous smile at the corner of his lips.
He was dressed in simple lounge clothes, his black hair falling loosely over his face. On his left ear was a very simple silver hook that seemed to shine brightly under the moonlight.
Arlen was stunned for a few seconds. A hundred thoughts flashed through his mind but he was unable to catch a single one.
"Fine. It is my loss." He blinked and looked at Ravi pitifully, "No strawberry shortcake for me, I have been thinking about it all year. I would probably dream of it tonight." He sniffled and placed a hand dramatically on his chest like he was about to faint.
Ravi was touched and he was about to promise to bake him the shortcake when his eyes narrowed. How many times has he been fooled by this person, "I understand? Let’s play another game. If you win, you get the shortcake."
Arlen froze and he dropped his hand, his expression was like a kicked puppy, "That...that was not the reaction I was expecting."
Ravi chuckled, unable to contain himself, and he lowered his head, laughing silently.
Arlen joined him in his laughter. It turns out that he could also be cunning. He smiled watching him.
"Ring!"
The sound of the alarm sounded and the two of them looked at Arlen’s phone.
Arlen hurried and switched it off, "Sorry. It is my alarm to order food so that I don’t forget."
Ravi nodded. It was 8;30 pm, and Arlen usually ate so late. 8:30, so much time has passed, he did not notice it.
Arlen stood it, it was late. He should be going but for some reason, he hesitated. He did not want to go just yet.
He bent down, and leaned closer to Ravi.
Arlen’s gaze was focused, the blue eyes fixed on him. The light smile on his face was toned down, making the atmosphere more subtle or meaningful.
Was he going to kiss me?
The thought suddenly appeared in Ravi’s mind and his entire body froze like a deer caught in a headlight. What! Why would he have such thoughts?
He swallowed, if someone like Arlen learned so close, it was okay to have such thoughts, right?
What kind of excuse was that? It was probably this night sky filled with stars that was confusing him.
It must be the food or the drink. Or it must be...he is horny. Yes, that is. He needed to go to the nightclub and have a proper one night stand.
He was a man with needs. Going too long without sex was affecting him.
"What are you thinking about now?" Arlen’s voice came and he focused on him. That gaze on him was so gentle and warm, warm enough that he felt that he would be burnt through.
He prayed that his thoughts were not seen through by this person. This friendship meant everything to him. Ravi did not want to lose it at all.
"Nothing. Captain, personal space." He remembered and Arlen smiled and moved back.
"Thanks for hosting me. I had the best time today." He ruffled his head, "I don’t know whether it was noticeable but I was sad when I came but now, I feel so much better. I am glad I came. And the dinner, it was exceptional. Thank you."
Ravi smiled, "I am glad you are feeling better now. Wait a minute, I will get your clothes. They are in the dryer. I will be right back." He stopped up and made his way back inside the house.
He entered the laundry room and took out the dark blue uniform from the dryer. He closed his eyes for a second, it smelled so much like him.
Ravi did not stay long but headed back, giving him the uniform.
"Thank you, Ravi."
"You say thanks a lot. We are friends."
Arlen grinned, "You are right. We are friends. So about the favor I..."
"No."
Arlen chuckled. He and Ravi walked to the gate and Ravi opened it for him to leave.
"Good night."
"I will text you when I get home."
Ravi nodded, watching him until he disappeared from his eyes. He closed the gate quietly with a faint smile. The last time, after Arlen left, the warmth he brought seemed to disappear with him, leaving the house cold as it always was.
But now, Ravi glanced at the porch table filled with cards, that warmth lingered even after he had gone.
"Meow." A low cry sounded as the cat jumped on the table.
Ravi walked to Asher, and patted his head, "I learned a new game today. Want to play?"
