I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 74: Rest after meal
Chapter 74: Rest after meal
The two of them sat on the two chairs in front of the porch after dinner, resting and occasionally drinking soy milk.
"Is he still looking at me?" Arlen asked.
Ravi laughed and looked back to where Asher was looking through the window. Wasn’t he watching a movie, "Yes."
"Why is he still so suspicious of me? I think I would just come every night till he likes me." Arlen drank the soy milk with a smile.
Ravi’s heart skipped, he wanted to say he wanted that but the words would not leave his mouth, "I think he would still not like you."
"Ravi." Arlen moaned pitifully, "Shouldn’t you wish me luck?" He sat up and his eyes narrowed, "How am I not sure you are not the one whispering things in his ears when I am away."
Ravi was speechless, "That would be crazy. I am not that crazy yet."
"So you admit you are crazy. Crazy Ravi." Arlen teased.
Ravi moved closer, "You should not say that when you are alone in a property without any help. The things I could do."
"I am scared." Arlen said with the straightest face.
Ravi sighed, he rubbed his hair, "Couldn’t you look a little bit frightened? I deepened my voice and everything."
That frustrated look was new for Arlen and he captured it. Whenever Ravi revealed a new facet of himself, Arlen felt excited and curious, like he had unwrapped another treasure.
That subtle emotion softened Arlen entirely. His brows and eyes relaxed and his smile carried a gentle and tender aura.
"My heart is pounding, I was really scared."
Ravi looked like he did not believe his words and that expression showed clearly on his face.
Beep! Beep! His phone vibrated again and he looked at it but made no motion to pick it up. HE looked up to meet Ravi’s inquiring gaze and explained, "They are commenting on the food that I posted, It already has twenty thousand likes." freёnovelkiss.com
"Twenty thousand! That is much."
"I have a lot of followers on Poly." He smiled, his peacock feathers spreading.
Poly wasn’t that the social media that Lisa was in, if she found out that Arlen had such a huge following, she would be so excited to collaborate with him.
He nodded and took that information, burying it in his chest.
"Are you on Poly too?" Arlen asked as he picked up the phone, "Let’s follow each other. Alright?"
"I am not on Poly. But I have a Mirror account." He said when he saw how Arlen’s expression fell.
Arlen sat up excitedly, "Me too. I have sent the invite link to your DM. Better accept it." Just after they talked more about social media, Arlen jumped into another topic, "Do you have a deck of cards?"
Cards? Ravi began to shake his head and then stopped and nodded.
Arlen was amused, "Which one is it, no or yes? Do you have it or not?"
"Give me a minute?" Ravi stood up and walked back into the house. The cat jumped down from the window and onto the table.
"Do you want to come outside?"
A shake.
Ravi nodded and headed as if to the kitchen, he took his phone and checked the cards. After visualizing them, he took out a pebble, and in his hands was a deck of cards.
It was completely identical. He nodded, took out a plate, and filled it with mixed nuts before he returned to the front porch.
"These cards?"
Arlen caught it and frowned a bit, "they are brand new." They had the crisp scent of a new deck that had not yet been broken. He smiled, he should be home revising the case but he was just having too much fun.
"Do you know how to play Rummy?"
Ravi shook his head, he did not know how to play cards at all. The knowledge had never been important in any of his missions so he never learned it. He regretted it, "I don’t know how to play."
Arlen waved his hand, "I will teach you. Alright. We can use it to relax after the meal. Let’s start with the basics. This is a standard deck, a standard deck is usually divided into four, hearts, this one, diamonds, clubs, and spades."
Sentinels were all fast learners, Ravi absorbed the entire knowledge like a sponge, "Hearts, diamond, clubs, and spade. Got it."
"Each one had cards from two to ten. Then there are cards like these ones, face cards, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace."
He was close. Too close. The cards were on the table and Arlen was sitting on the edge of his seat, leaning forward to show him which cards were which. The scent of vanilla danced on Ravi’s nose and he almost closed his eyes to savor it some more, how can a simple scent be so damn captivating.
"Did you hear me?"
Oh no!
He panicked for a few seconds but calmed down. As long as he heard it, he can carefully recollect it, "You talked about the sets and emptying your hands by forming sets and running. When it is your turn, you can draw a card from the draw pile or you can take the top card from the discard pile. You must have a minimum of three cards to form a run and at the end of your turn, you must discard one card from your hand onto the discard pile." He repeated, taking joy at how Arlen’s eyes shone with each sentence.
"Ravi, you are seriously amazing. In one go."
Ravi’s ears blushed, Could he stop praising him like that? So sincerely. It made his stomach dance.
"Let us make it more interesting. If I win, you will make me a strawberry shortcake, if you win, then...then"
"You would owe me a favor. I am a beginner so it is fair."
Arlen smiled, his eyes filled with mischief. This game had won him so many friends in college, that he rarely lost. And since he saw that strawberry brush, strawberry shortcake had been in his mind.
"A favor it is."
He was like a lion cub, strutting around like he was the king of the jungle. Ravi thought as they began to play.
