I Am the Only Fertile Woman in the Game-Chapter 276 Threat
22 hours before the erasure.
Qiao Suisui stared at him as Han Chen clapped his hands twice, and the glass in front of Qiao Suisui instantly turned transparent.
But the glass was one-way; she could clearly see Ye Xi, but Ye Xi couldn’t see what was happening on her side.
Han Chen dialed his assistant, then turned on the speakerphone and placed it in front of Qiao Suisui.
His face wore a malicious smile.
"How about we make a bet? What do you think Ye Xi will choose between saving you and saving herself?"
Seeing Qiao Suisui clench her fists with a somewhat stiff expression, eyes intently focused on Ye Xi, Han Chen couldn’t help but chuckle leisurely, sauntering behind her and resting his arm on her chair.
"Don’t be nervous. The answer will be revealed soon."
On the other end of the phone, Han Chen’s assistant coldly said to Ye Xi, "Miss Ye, I think I no longer need to introduce myself."
Ye Xi gave the other person a cold look and after a long pause, said, "I know you. You’re one of Han Chen’s dogs."
The assistant wasn’t annoyed, instead, he gave a small smile.
He tossed a stack of documents onto the table, and a few photos flew out from the scattered files.
Each photo featured Ye Xi and an elderly man.
Ye Xi’s expression drastically changed, and she abruptly looked up, "Investigate me all you want, but leave my grandma out of this!"
She and her grandmother had relied on each other since she was young. Her first computer was purchased with the money her grandmother had saved by scrimping and saving. Initially, the two lived in a small thirty-square-meter flat on social welfare, with her grandmother collecting recyclables, selling starch sausages, balloons, and cheap snacks outside schools. However, her grandmother never sold outside the school Ye Xi attended, fearing she might embarrass her granddaughter.
Ye Xi had shown a remarkable talent for mathematics from a young age. At first, she would top her class to make her grandmother happy, proudly bringing home awards. But once, her teacher visited their home and told her grandmother that Ye Xi was a prodigy who shouldn’t miss out on education and that she should participate in a math competition. The teacher was willing to pay the registration fee, but they would need to cover the travel expenses themselves.
Ye Xi, who had never left their small town or knew how much it would cost to travel to a big city, stay in a hotel, and pay for food, assumed it was very expensive.
Her grandmother said nothing, bowed continuously to the teacher in gratitude, and afterward began leaving early and returning late.
To gather the travel money for her granddaughter, her grandmother faced rejections for being too slow when washing dishes and too old for cleaning jobs. As a retired old lady, she struggled to find work in society. Eventually, her grandmother spent a whole night collecting bottles and recyclables, carefully searching each trash can and dragging her worn snake-skin bag for a long distance.
That dawn at 4:30 AM was an unforgettable moment for Ye Xi.
She woke up to find her grandmother not beside her. Panicked, she rushed out in slippers to look for her, knocking on every door and asking everyone, "Have you seen my grandma?" and "Did you see my grandma?"
Finally, as the sunrise ascended, her grandmother returned with a bulging snake-skin bag, walking slowly against the sunlight. Her back bent, her hands, full of dry wrinkles, clutched tightly at the mouth of the bag.
Seeing Ye Xi sitting on the steps, her grandmother showed a kind smile.
"Xiao Xi, we have the travel money now."
It all started from that day when Ye Xi stopped showing her Talent to the public. She cut her hair short, put on dull black-framed glasses, and rarely spoke to her peers. She didn’t go to big cities to compete but instead, bought a computer with her family’s money and money borrowed from neighbors.
She deliberately maintained mediocre grades and taught herself computer programming during breaks, managing to code for private chats within six months.
Ye Xi took on the responsibility of supporting her family during her adolescence.
Fortunately, her grandmother was always in good health, and their lives improved day by day with Ye Xi’s efforts.
After finishing middle school, Ye Xi decided to drop out because she had more important things to do, like ensuring her grandmother no longer had to pick up bottles for a living.
Qiao Suisui saw Ye Xi become visibly agitated after seeing the photo, while the assistant’s voice kept coming from the phone—
"Miss Ye, I hope you think this through. Since you broke the contract with INF, you no longer have any rights related to this game. Your frequent actions have completely crossed the red line, constituting a leak of commercial secrets. Our company reserves the right to pursue your legal responsibility."
The assistant suddenly changed the topic and said, "However, if you sign this agreement, we will no longer pursue it."
He pulled out an agreement, but Ye Xi couldn’t concentrate on it. She only saw the bolded line and glared at the other party, saying, "You want me to commit perjury?"
"So what? As long as you pin all of today’s actions on your friend who incited you, this matter will have nothing to do with you anymore. You can still continue in your old profession and take care of your grandmother."
Ye Xi gritted her teeth and shouted, "But this game was my creation! I designed everything! I only sold the rights because I didn’t understand the law and got deceived by you!"
The assistant smirked, "Without INF’s technology and financial support, you just had an idea. Could you have reached this scale on your own? Besides, those players are just lonely female geeks like you. We spent a lot of money to develop this game to fill their emotional void, and yet they talk about self-worth in their live streams, ridiculous."
Seeing Ye Xi speechless, the assistant handed her a pen and said, "Just sign it, why struggle? Once you sign, your friend will take all the responsibility, and it will have nothing to do with you. Moreover, President Han is also considering your contributions to the company and offering you an additional one million."
Over here, Han Chen watched Qiao Suisui’s serious expression deepen with a smile, "What do you think Ye Xi will choose?"
Han Chen’s eyes were full of provocation.
Qiao Suisui, looking at Ye Xi separated by only a wall, said, "I believe in her, no matter what she chooses, we are friends."
Han Chen chuckled, appearing somewhat disdainful, "Naivety is good, but too much of it is foolish."
In another conference room, Ye Xi slowly took the pen while the assistant smirked triumphantly.
Ye Xi’s hands began to tremble; it started lightly, but the quivering increased in magnitude, even moving to her shoulders.
The assistant, seeing the girl in front of him continuously bowing her head, thought she was crying from sadness and was about to say something. However, Ye Xi then lifted her head, and the eyes behind the black-framed glasses were startlingly bright.
"You...."
"Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, can we stop now? I can’t keep acting anymore." Ye Xi laughed heartily, lightly dabbing the physiological tears at the corner of her eyes.
Han Chen’s face subtly changed as he looked toward Qiao Suisui.
She sat there poised in the chair, completely devoid of the previous seriousness and despair.
The assistant was clearly surprised by Ye Xi’s reaction, "What are you talking about?"
