Chapter 594: Edward Stephens in childhood

"Do you have any photos of Edward when he was a child?"

After dinner, Daisy Ginger asked softly.

Lady Stephens was taken aback for a moment, looked at Daisy, and nodded, "I have an album in my room, I’ll have someone bring it down."

"Thank you for the trouble," she said politely.

The album was soon brought down as per Lady Stephens’ instructions.

The Stephens family is a large family, and they take a family portrait every year, so Daisy can see Edward Stephens’ changes from one family portrait to another.

She even saw Edward Stephen’s photo from when he was a month old.

Watching that man gradually grow from a babbling baby to a small boy, Daisy felt something subtle— as if there was a thread connecting her to Edward Stephens, and she was part of his past.

"Look, this is Edward when he was three and a half," Lady Stephens picked out a photo and said with a smile to Daisy, "Doesn’t he look exactly like little Erin? Oh my, those eyes, that expression, they’re practically carved from the same mold."

Even though the photos were meant for Daisy, it was Lady Stephens who couldn’t stop laughing beside her.

In the photo, little Edward Stephens was wearing an orange short-sleeve shirt and black shorts, held in Lady Stephens’ lap. The young Lady Stephens was very beautiful, smiling like a flower, yet Edward was expressionless, with a cool demeanor.

Daisy lowered her head and glanced at Erin. The little guy was on his tiptoes, his little face serious as he stared at the photo, looking at his "dad."

Actually... they don’t really look alike.

Daisy thought with relief.

Erin’s eye shape and corners of the mouth were inherited from her; the eye corners were slightly more upturned, so they appeared larger, and the contour was more delicate than Edward’s, with a somewhat androgynous appearance.

Daisy bent down, picked up Erin, and looked at the photos together with him.

The annual family portraits wonderfully showcased that man’s growth, and in the photos, she also saw Robert Stephens.

What surprised her greatly was how completely different the young Robert Stephens looked from the man he would become.

Today’s Robert Stephens already exuded a gentle and low-key demeanor, but the young man in the photo, although smiling in the center, had an aura like a magnificent lion, overshadowing everyone else in the picture.

She watched as the young man grew increasingly brilliant and sharp, and then, he no longer appeared in any future family portraits.

Flipping to the end, Robert Stephens was no longer present.

Gently closing the album, Daisy held Erin and let out a soft sigh.

So, this was what Edward Stephens looked like as a child.

Before, she never had the chance to understand his past, and now she finally had the courage to try stepping into his life.

It’s not too late, after all, they’re still young.

Holding Erin, Daisy walked over and sat down on the sofa.

The little one was swinging his legs, seeming a bit cheerful and at ease.

Daisy lowered her gaze, looking at his expression, and suddenly realized—though Erin never said anything, he actually really liked Edward Stephens.

Perhaps he also wanted to meet him, but maybe, due to her own thoughts, he hid his true intentions.

He never mentioned Edward Stephens to her, but he had long known that Edward was his biological father.

This child was precocious and clever; perhaps he was afraid of hurting her feelings, or he knew that she and Edward couldn’t be together, so he never made any requests as long as nothing was resolved.
