His Toxic Addiction-Chapter 372: Uncertain Feelings.
Chapter 372: Uncertain Feelings.
"Fuck!" Nicklaus cursed as he caught hold of his wife’s body before she reached the floor.
His heart drooped into his stomach when he saw Arissa’s body dropping to the floor. Out of reflex, he came out of his hiding and caught her body.
He arrived here a few minutes ago but decided to stay away when he heard her concerned with Jocelyn. The conversation left him speechless for a few minutes and was only able to bring a smile to his face when he heard Arissa’s confession about loving their child. He was proud of himself for being able to accomplish one of his highest goals after meeting her. He couldn’t ask for anything more when he heard her say that she already loved their baby even without meeting the child.
He decided to wait for Jocelyn to leave the kitchen before going in to apologize to her but to his greatest surprise, he ended up seeing her walking sluggishly toward his direction. When he saw her that way, he took a step towards her and he would tag that as the greatest step he has ever taken because the moment he took that step, she slumped down to the floor and luckily for him, he was there in time to grab her waist and stop her from having such drastic fall.
His breath trembled when he caught her and his heartbeat fastened. He knelt on one kneel and placed a deep kiss on her head, "I got you, Love,"
Arissa who felt a bit okay when he wrapped his arms around her, gave him a weak appreciative smile before shutting her eyes. Nicklaus dropped another deep kiss on her head and shut his eyes. He buried his face into her hair and relaxed his racing heart before turning his face to the other body in the kitchen.
Nicklaus fixed a strong gaze at Jocelyn. His gaze visibly asked her to thank her stars that nothing happened to his wife.
Jocelyn dropped her gaze to the floor in understanding. She understood his reason for getting mad as she had also been careless. She wouldn’t have taken Arissa’s words to be able to support herself so seriously.
Nicklaus carried Arissa properly in his arms and left the kitchen. Jocelyn hurried behind them.
"Do not come closer, let her rest," he ordered, his voice coming out more edgy than he expected it to be, "She’s tired,"
Jocelyn took in light gulps in understanding, "Okay," she nodded respectfully and stood rooted at that spot while she watched him climb up the staircase.
Arissa wrapped her hands around his neck and made herself more comfortable as she spaced off to the land of sleep.
Nicklaus walked into her room after a few minutes and closed the door behind him. He paused for a second and stared at her tranquil expression as she slept.
He wondered how she could sleep so peacefully after setting his heart on a runmill some minutes ago. He watched her face for a few minutes
Gently, he laid her on the bed and scanned her whole body. Pulling the bathrobe she wore down to cover her thighs completely, he tucked her under the duvet and she rolled away from him and faced the other side of the bed.
He felt an unusual feeling of uncertainty in his heart. He watched her roll away from him and the feeling grew. Watching her roll away from him on the bed, he feared over so many things.
He walked away from the bed and massaged his scalp with his fingers. Taking his phone out of his pant pocket, he sent Lukas to get her some clothes.
Nicklaus took a seat on her couch after that and fixed his eyes on her. He was in deep thought and wasn’t even able to blink.
Picking up his phone, he decided to work through his mobile phone to distract himself from her and every thought that entertained anxiety in him.
Arissa’s eyelids flickered the second Nicklaus took his eyes off her. She thought she felt his presence around, reaching for his side of the bed, she felt how empty it was.
She released a deep breath, clenched the duvet closer to her chest, and sat up. Her inside felt strange, it lasted for two seconds and stopped.
Releasing a deep breath, she rested her back on the headboard and scanned the room, only to find Nicklaus on the couch. Their gaze interlocked as he had also been staring at her.
"You are sweating," Nicklaus said lowly. The room was well-conditioned but she still sweat, "And you look pale again," he noticed and walked towards the bed.
Arissa thinned her lips and stayed quiet. She tried to look okay but it wasn’t possible.
Nicklaus got to the bed and sat before her, "Are you hungry?" he asked gently as he pushed a strand of her hair behind her ear.
Arissa held his gaze and took his hand off her hair. Nicklaus let out a low exhale and caressed her face softly even when he knew she took his hand off her face as a clue for him to stop touching her.
"You are still mad at me," he caught a glimpse of her lingering annoyance towards him, "It’s fine, I do not mind how long you remain mad but please don’t hurt yourself while staying mad."
Arissa took his hand off his face and laid back on the bed. Nicklaus pushed the strands of her hair covering her neck off and pressed his lips on her neck, giving her deep kisses there.
He kissed her neck down to her shoulder and gently massaged the back of her neck for her. Arissa relaxed in his care. She sighed softly and was tempted to ask for a cuddle but on second thought, she restricted herself.
Nicklaus pulled away from her neck, "I love you, Arissa," after saying those words from his heart, he pulled away from her.
Arissa’s heart fluttered and she gripped the sheets to prevent her face from flooding with tears. She does not want to stay mad at him, she can’t. However, she might have to if she wants him to give her the answers she wants.
