His Toxic Addiction-Chapter 373: Feeling Cheated.
Chapter 373: Feeling Cheated.
Arissa rolled over on the bed and faced Nicklaus. When she turned to him, she was staring at his back as he was already prepared to leave the bed.
"Nick," she called him softly, like a whisper, "Thank you," she told him and placed her palm flat on his back.
Nicklaus tilted his head and looked at her. He waited for seconds before asking, "What for?" he made his voice firm on purpose. He wanted her to know that she had hurt him deeply by being snobbish to him, only to speak to him of her own will.
Arissa’s lips twisted at his tune. "Thank you for being there in time before I would reach the floor," she replied and looked away from his gaze. Done with her appreciation, she took her hand off his back and turned away from him once more.
Nicklaus who was once elated when she spoke to him felt his heart shedding into a million pieces when she broke his hopes of reconciling with her by turning away from him again.
Well, he was glad she spoke to him even if it was just a thank you. It left him smiling that she appreciated him.
This time, he refused to let her be. The moment she turned away, he lay behind her and wrapped his hand around her waist. He gently pulled her to himself from behind and used his other free hand to caress her collarbones.
His other hand around her waist sneaked under her bathrobe and stroked her stomach.
"Nicklaus stop," Arissa cautioned him and attempted to pull away but Nicklaus granted her no space to do that. He even fixed his face in between her chin and shoulder and kissed her neck.
Arissa was left stunned by his sudden talent. Where did he learn how to be this worrisome? He wasn’t just worrisome, he was also so sweet.
Her husband she knows has always been so reserved and for him to be doing this all of a sudden, it means he wants to win her over.
She tried not to smile over his act but a soft smile ended up lifting her lips.
She patted his head softly and smiled," Okay, okay. I think this is enough," she attempted to pull his head off.
Nicklaus refused to be moved by her and continued kissing. He fears she might pull away from him if he lets his guard down.
Arissa rolled her eyes and tried to face him. His neck on her shoulder that way gave her little difficulty but she decided to manage since he doesn’t want to pull away.
Nicklaus noticed her attempt to turn to him and immediately pulled away from her neck and his hand loosened a bit to give her no stress.
"I’m sorry," he apologized the second she fully faced him. He did not mean to go far to the extent of disturbing her.
He’s trying to solve their issue and not create another.
Arissa chuckled, "It’s nothing,"
Nicklaus smiled at her. He stared at her face with all love and concentration before lifting a finger to feel the skin on her neck.
"Please forgive me," he pleaded as he trailed his fingers down to her shoulders softly as if she were a glass and would break at any slight mistake.
Arissa did not react to those words. She only wrapped her hands around his neck and pressed her face on his chest. Nicklaus wrapped his around her in delight and excitement.
Nicklaus kissed her head and said, "Thank you, I love you,"
Arissa raised a brow at him from the hug and let out an amused chuckle, "I love you more but you do not have to thank me. I haven’t forgiven you yet, I just want you to stay close because the baby loves your scent so much that it keeps him calm and luckily, it stops me from feeling nauseated or strange," she explained her reason for hugging him.
"Oh!" Nicklaus was taken aback by her reply but that did not stop him from holding her more closely to himself, "This isn’t fair, Love,"
Arissa glanced at him from his chest, "What do you mean?" she questioned.
Nicklaus stared down at her and said in the most unjust tune she had ever heard, "It isn’t fair the baby seems to be picking sides already,"
Arissa’s eyes widened when she heard his ridiculous reply. She wasn’t able to hold back her laugh as she burst out laughing in the next second.
Hearing her laugh like he had lost his mind, he went on to explain himself, "Isn’t that what this means? She already seems to love you so much for her to do this. She did not put in words from me but wants me to be around her,"
Arissa laughed extended and she radiated with a more beautiful glow. For some reason, she overly loved this new side of Nicklaus.
She placed a hand on her stomach, "Did you hear what Daddy said? He wants you to put in words for him so badly, but unfortunately, he would have to wait for two years and a few months before that would happen," she said and laughed at the end.
Nicklaus felt cheated, he pulled away from Arissa and placed both of his hands on her stomach, "I’m sure you told Mummy to forgive me. I know you did but she decided not to," he reported.
Arissa’s eyes widened and a chuckle of disbelief left her lips. She looked like someone who had been forced to witness a false witness scene.
"Do not force words into the baby’s mind, Nick. The baby said nothing of such, you are the one being delusional," she cracked up at the end.
Nicklaus’s face fell as if ganged up on by bullies. He sat up on the bed and placed his face on her stomach. Arissa rolled her eyes at the act but enjoyed the feeling that came from it.
"Please make Mummy to forgive me. I know you can’t talk, but you are in her and have the power to communicate with her. Please tell her I’m honestly sorry for annoying her. Explain to her how sad Daddy gets each time she stays mad at him, please_"
"Nick," Arissa stopped him. His words were beginning to get to her and she could feel her heart melting at each word he said. She massaged his neck, "I think that’s enough," she begged.
She wasn’t yet prepared to let his act of keeping secrets from her slip off.
"She’s listening, Love," Nicklaus said confidently.
Arissa blinked in thought, "Why do you keep referring to the baby as a she?"
