He who Bends Time-Chapter 77 - exceed
Chapter 77: Chapter 77 - exceed
"I have given out hundreds of gifts to those whom I found valuable, and all of them received items of first second and third tier," said the old man.
"These items provided them with immense help on their journey to ascension."
"And the reason I’m giving you something so valuable, young man, is because I believe your journey will be far more difficult than theirs," he added.
"You might be telling the truth, but I have no way of knowing that for sure," Auran replied. "Taking something from a stranger isn’t how I operate. More importantly, I’m someone who has confidence in my own abilities—I don’t need help from anyone else, even when I’m in danger. I can defend myself alone," he said proudly.
Hearing that, the old man went silent—and finally, the girl, who had remained quiet all this time, raised her voice.
"Grandpa, let’s go. Someone like this, with an inflated ego, is not the kind of person Master hoped to ascend. Even after being warned, if he still shows such arrogance, then let him suffer and disappear in the endless flow of time—just like all the other self-important brats before him," she said. Her voice was smooth and carried an ethereal tone.
"Sharp words," Auran muttered under his breath.
"I deeply apologize for her words, young Time Magician," said the old man calmly. "If it is your wish to walk ahead alone and face every danger by yourself, then we shall not interfere. But if a time comes when you can no longer stand alone, we will be glad to offer our assistance."
Right after he spoke, space trembled—and both the young girl and the old man vanished from where they stood, leaving behind only a single card.
"A card? What the hell is this?" Auran muttered, not picking it up at first. He simply stared at it lying on the ground. There was some inscription etched onto its surface.
"A recall card... one that can summon them if I ever need their help," he murmured, reading the text aloud. After a brief pause for thought, he bent down and picked it up.
"Might as well keep it. I really don’t know what could happen in the future," he said.
But before putting the card into his pocket, he raised it up and muttered a few words, "Ahem... oh great Mother Crystal, would it be possible to cast a sealing spell upon this thing?"
And after a moment, the surface of the card suddenly crystallized.
"That was just a guess... but she really has numerous abilities that don’t even belong to her own magic field. Fascinating," Auran said, before finally placing the card into his pocket.
"Now, to the next business," he muttered, then glanced back at his chair and leaned into it casually.
{Access Finite — Open}
He whispered the command. In the next moment, the scenery before him shifted, morphing into the interior of the Access Finite.
He first appeared in the Lazy Domain, and from there, he walked up to the second section—toward the book that floated directly in front of the Time Rift.
"To think someone would try to win me over by offering me a piece of knowledge. How hilarious is that," Auran scoffed, standing before the book while gazing into the depths of the Time Rift.
"The Access Finite is my masterpiece. But it’s not just a place I created—it’s also a spell. While the first section, the Lazy Domain, is more like a passive spell that gathers knowledge over time, the second section is something else entirely. It’s an active spell—one that I must manually trigger... and one that comes with a cost."
"Well actually, there shouldn’t be a second section in the Access Finite. My original intent was to remove any danger. And yet, that very second section itself is the danger—the instability born within the Time Rift. But getting rid of that would also mean losing the most important ability of the Access Finite. So... I had to take a gamble."
{Access Finite — Exceed}
Auran muttered the name of a spell, and the two circles revolving on either side of the Time Rift suddenly began to react strangely.
In the next moment, Auran placed his hand on the book and focused on the memory he had of it—the last hour Codex, the one handed to him by the old man.
As he recalled the content he’d seen in the book, the two circles started to respond to his thoughts. They spun violently, channeling the Time Rift, causing it to blow open and surge extremely fast, spilling out even more time mana. Although the tentacles around the rift tried to absorb the mana as usual, the quantity of spilled time mana became overwhelming. The tentacles couldn’t keep up and began to miss several drops.
However, the interior of the second section—crafted from Auran’s own mana—was specially designed to tolerate stray time mana. As a result, one or two drops did little harm. But when more and more time mana began falling out of control, the interior started to weaken, and cracks began to appear.
Even the time stream itself showed signs of instability, wavering between the two circles. Parts of it began to stray, slipping outside the controlled flow of the rift and spilling into the Access Finite’s interior.
While all of this was happening, the book under Auran’s hand began to react in a strange way. Although it appeared as a complete book, it was actually just two covers closed together—without any pages in the middle.
But suddenly, a new page grew between the covers.
Once the page had fully formed, Auran instantly pulled his hand away and deactivated the Access finite exceed spell. The revolving circles stopped spinning, and the violently surging time stream began to calm down slowly.
"Didn’t that make a mess..." Auran muttered, looking around the space now heavily damaged. In some places, deep holes had formed—tiny gaps puncturing the very walls of the Access Finite.
"Fortunately, the damage can be repaired when my mana regenerates... but I should definitely be extremely careful not to use this unless absolutely necessary," he reminded himself.
The most powerful ability of the Time Rift is its capacity to draw out instant knowledge about whatever I’m thinking. And the two circles are the key—they manage that spell: one draws out the information, the other targets it specifically.
When I try to obtain instant knowledge about any subject, the two circles push past their limits, forcing the time stream between them to accelerate unnaturally to extract even more information.
