Guide To Train My Beast Husbands-Chapter 278: Regret It Later On
When the mer didn’t speak, Ruan Chanchan sighed and reached out. She flicked his forehead and made sure that she used all of her strength in that flick.
"Oww!"
"Xie Daiyu, look at me," she said firmly. "Stop avoiding my gaze." what Ruan Chanchan hated the most was when people kept things to themselves; it would only lead to more and more misunderstandings in the end. Wasn’t it the same for her? She kept her feelings buried in her heart and blamed her mother for taking care of and loving Mo Xifeng more. If she had talked about the issues that she was facing within herself, then maybe she might have never died.
Xie Daiyu heard her commanding tone and hesitated. A part of him wanted to ignore what Ruan Chanchan was saying to him; after all, he was a totem warrior. How could he listen to her commands without fighting back? He wasn’t going to listen to her just because she asked him to look at her.
"Xie Daiyu."
He whipped his head and turned to look at the woman sitting on top of him. As soon as he turned his head, his eyes met her unwavering one.
"Did you really think that I would not notice anything?" Ruan Chanchan asked with a raise of her brows. She swiftly added, "You thought that if you continued to pull away, I wouldn’t notice you avoiding or ignoring me?"
Xie Daiyu was used to coming over to her cave every morning but these days, he was taking a u turn every time he saw her coming out or going to the square. Even when she was collecting mushrooms or teaching the tribe members how to collect mushrooms and which ones were poisonous, Xie Daiyu would specifically avoid the places where she was present.
Ruan Chanchan was not an idiot. After seeing his actions, she more or less figured out what was going on.
Xie Daiyu clenched his teeth. He didn’t dare to say anything but he knew that he couldn’t stay quiet either. Something about Ruan Chanchan’s gaze told him that the woman knew what was going on in his mind. "I don’t want to show you my ugly side."
"Do you still think I care about that when you have run like a little toddler trying to avoid eating bitter fruits?" Ruan Chanchan asked with a raise of a brow. After seeing his tantrum, she didn’t believe there was anything that was going to surprise her; anyway, she already had a very good idea about what was going on in the mind of this mer.
Since that was the case, then she might as well hear it.
Nudging him with her foot, she said to the mer, "There is no need to hide anything. It’s not like I am never going to find out."
She found out about the two of them scheming to get pregnant, so of course she was going to find out about this later as well. In fact, she already had a very good hunch.
"He is a better match..." he whispered finally.
"Who?" Ruan Chanchan frowned, as she had not thought about this yet. Who was a better match and what kind of nonsense was this mer even spouting at this point? What match?
Xie Daiyu gritted his teeth. He felt that Ruan Chanchan was tormenting him. Why won’t she drop the topic and leave him alone? Seeing that the woman was not even close to letting him go, he pursed his lips and stated in a low voice, "Rong Xian."
Rong Xian?
Ruan Chanchan frowned when she heard Xie Daiyu mention Rong Xian. She, of course, knew who this Rong Xian was but where did this talk of him being a better match come from?
Ohho, darling. You are so silly—think about it carefully. He had been abandoned by Shao Xia, who wanted much prettier and influential mers. So of course, he still has PTSD. He is worried that, just like Shao Xia, you will leave him alone for a better match. It’s not his fault that he has been betrayed in such a heartless manner.
Ruan Chanchan blinked her eyes and looked down at the mer who looked like he was about to cry. Sighing, she pushed herself off his body.
She sat beside him, close enough for Xie Daiyu to feel her warmth. With her eyes softening, she quietly told the mer, "Xie Daiyu, I am not Shao Xia."
Upon hearing her words, the mer flinched but Ruan Chanchan ignored it and continued, "I am not like her and never would be. If I wanted to jump to another tribe which was much more powerful and richer than this one, then I would have taken his offer when he gave it to me. If I wanted a prince, do you think that I would still be lingering around this tribe? I would have long packed and walked away from you."
She had no idea why she was even telling these things to this mer. Ruan Chanchan knew that it was better for her to just let this misunderstanding stew and watch this mer get further and further from her; this was a much better option than her dying one day and leaving Xie Daiyu behind. But then the mer looked at her with those big, amber eyes of his. The ones that were filled with a hint of pain and anguish within them – Ruan Chanchan couldn’t help but comfort him. She sucked in a breath and patted him on the head. "I am not leaving. So you don’t have to worry."
"Why?" Xie Daiyu asked hoarsely. He didn’t want to accept it but when he saw Rong Xian standing in front of Ruan Chanchan, holding his hand out to her and asking her to join him and his tribe, even if he didn’t want to agree and accept, Xie Daiyu had to admit that the two of them looked really good together. Even when Ruan Chanchan was his destined one.
