Realizing that he wouldn't gain any new information and pointlessly waste his stamina and chakra, Danzo changed tactics once again. He redirected his remaining chakra in the firestorm, moving it toward the center with precise chakra control. The blaze trembled, then began to shift unnaturally. Embers spiralled upward in a vortex as the remaining fire began to gather, forming a large demonic figure. The burning entity was nearly 8 meters tall, with flaming arms and a vaguely defined head, its torso still connected to the ground by a trail of fire.

Without wasting any time, it moved towards Akuro. Akuro sensed the change and analyzed, 'First the Fire Dragons, then using Shisui's eye and now this Fire Demon. Though none of them are bad per se, Danzo must know they're useless against someone who can use the Lightning Chakra Mode. So, why is… Oh, I understand. Hehehe, not bad at all…'

On the other side, Danzo thought, 'Though fighting a master of Lightning Chakra Mode at close range is difficult, defeating them at long distance is almost impossible. No matter how strong the assault is, they can easily dodge everything. Even a Tailed Beast Bomb wouldn't work as they would escape its range long before it explodes. The only hope is a powerful Genjutsu, which unfortunately doesn't work on Akuro.

However, Lightning Chakra Mode isn't too effective offensively at a long distance either. Though powerful Lightning jutsus and Lightning-enhanced weapons can be thrown over a long distance, they won't make any impact in a battle of this scale. Hence, despite dodging all my attacks, Akuro failed to counterattack properly even once. The flow of this battle is under my command.

He must have realized my intent by now. If we keep fighting at a distance, he'll make no progress, and the battle will unfold as I direct it to. Though I lost more chakra, he'll be unwilling to return to a long-range confrontation again, giving me more opportunities to land a deadly blow.'

For Danzo, the biggest disadvantage was Akuro's ability to attack and retreat at will. Despite his experience, he could do nothing to restrain Akuro's speed. So, he made a psychological play to manipulate Akuro. As for whether Akuro would fall for it, Danzo wasn't too worried. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

Close combat wasn't exactly a weak point of ninjas who mastered Lightning Chakra Mode. On the contrary, they were extremely powerful at it and Danzo knew Akuro would be the one to have the upper hand. Not to mention, they were currently in the Land of Fire. Their battle would attract any Konoha ninja passing through the vicinity.

While ordinary ninjas couldn't interfere in their battle, Konoha wasn't lacking in rank S ninjas. Of course, Danzo knew how low the chances of any of them appearing there were, but Akuro couldn't know it. From Danzo's perspective, Akuro wouldn't want to extend the battle needlessly, or he would lose the Lightning Crystal Vein.

'A provocation, ay? Alright, I'll bite. But first…'

As he dodged Danzo's attacks, a sword appeared under his sleeve. Akuro pointed his hand towards the sky and shot a lightning bolt into the clouds. Danzo noticed it but didn't dare to take his eye off Akuro. He wouldn't make the same fatal mistake that caused countless ninjas to lose their heads to the Third Raikage.

Sensing danger, Danzo flickered backwards instinctively as a Lightning ray struck his previous position!

At the same time, Lightning armor appeared on Akuro's body. He moved straight through the 2 Fire-Wind Dragons and the Fire Demon standing between him and Danzo. The fiery figures lost their forms and collapsed as Akuro appeared in front of Danzo in the blink of an eye, his sword slicing straight at Danzo's throat!

Had Danzo taken his eye off Akuro and focused on the Lightning, there was a good chance he would have lost his head at that moment. Thankfully, his experience wasn't lacking. Noticing Akuro heading towards him, Danzo grabbed a tanto and swung it to intercept Akuro's blade. As he swung, his chakra began flowing through the tanto and it was immediately sharpened with wind chakra!

At the same time, he analyzed, 'The Lightning strike had several purposes. If I were to be distracted by it, I would be in a precarious situation. If I had ignored it completely, I would have been badly injured by it. The attack was also a message. He isn't without means in a long-range battle. Yet, he chose to confront me in close range. As I speculated, all masters of Lightning Chakra Mode are arrogant and overconfident!'

The last remaining Root ninja was surprised when Lightning struck next to him. Before he could react, a few lightning arcs moved past him as Danzo and Akuro's blades met with a sharp metallic clang! He quickly turned his head, to see Danzo sliding back a few meters.

Akuro was slightly surprised as he observed, 'Interesting. I didn't expect him to have so much physical strength…'

The clash of blades was equal, but Akuro had great momentum and his strength was enhanced thanks to the Lightning Chakra Mode. He expected Danzo to be sent flying, but the result was rather unexpected. His figure disappeared as he attacked Danzo from another direction.

Danzo knew he couldn't match Akuro's speed. So, he used his Sharingan to keep track of Akuro's every move and relied on extremely precise movements to defend against Akuro's blade. One after another, he consistently blocked Akuro's every strike, making quite an impression on his young mind. He didn't make a single wasteful movement!

Even a ninja as skilled as Fujin would struggle to replicate Danzo's performance in the last few seconds. What Danzo displayed was a result of his over half-century-long experience. It also displayed the training he put in to prepare for the day he ran into the Raikage. It was the reason why Danzo dared to provoke Akuro into close combat.

The Root ninja watched the clash with helplessness in his eyes. He wanted to aid Danzo but his eyes failed to follow Akuro. Afraid that he would harm Danzo, he could only hold his position and look out for attacks on him.

As the two clashed, Danzo observed, 'Though he is very quick, his speed is much inferior to Ay. I can't even compare him to his father. In addition, his speed decreases considerably when he changes his direction. Strange. Very Strange... This would only be the case if he is rusty or if he's still learning the technique. From what he says, it must be the former, but he has been active for over a year now. Why is he still rusty? Even if he hasn't regained his peak, why is he so inferior to Ay?'

Danzo immediately discovered a few inconsistencies in Akuro, making him doubt Akuro's claims. As the two were about to clash again, a vacuum core formed along Danzo's blade. If the two blades clashed, Akuro would be at a disadvantage. However, Akuro twisted his wrist, letting his sword slide past Danzo's blade. Realizing the danger if Akuro's blade were to pass his tanto, Danzo immediately changed the direction of his slash and slashed horizontally at Akuro.

Akuro's figure disappeared as a Vacuum Slash was fired from Danzo's blade. Unfortunately, it sliced through nothing but air. Danzo quickly spun around and slashed his blade as Akuro appeared behind him. To his surprise, Akuro spun low and swept his leg at Danzo's ankles.

Barely having any time to react, Danzo leapt back, narrowly avoiding the sweep. At the same moment, he shot an Infinite Breakthrough jutsu to not only impede Akuro's movements but also to move backwards at a faster speed. Moments later, he twisted his body in the air and swung his blade towards his left.

Akuro stopped his attack and quickly changed his position, approaching Danzo from his back once again. Realizing he couldn't manipulate his body, Danzo exhaled gentle winds around him. At the same time, his Root subordinate shot flames straight at him. The flames mixed into winds and moved around Danzo to intercept Akuro.

Akuro could have pushed straight through the combination jutsu but decided to pull back again after noticing the vacuum cores forming on Danzo's fingertips. The small break finally gave Danzo enough time to land on the ground.

Akuro analyzed, 'Interesting… That Root ninja couldn't follow our movements at all. However, Danzo used Shisui's eye to manipulate him into spitting flames at him at the right moment. What weird teamwork… I should eliminate him to reduce the variables. However, Danzo should expect it too. He'll use him as a bait.'
