Chapter 227: Rong Xian (II)

Ruan Chanchan didn’t say anything. She had no idea why Yuan Ni was getting angry; wasn’t this mer his friend? She peered up at Yuan Ni and whispered, "Does your friend know that you secretly hate him?" because if he didn’t hate Rong Xian, then why was he saying such a thing? Letting him die outside the tribe? Only an enemy would say such a thing.

Yuan Ni rolled his eyes and sassily waved his hand. "I do not hate him, but I would rather hope he would die outside rather than cause trouble for our entire tribe."

As he spoke, he glared outside as if he could really see the mer lying outside.

"Alright, stop speaking nonsense," said Aunt Baidi. While she surely hoped that the mer would have died outside rather than in front of their tribe, it had already happened. What was the point of discussing something that had already happened? She then turned to look at Ruan Chanchan and asked in a soft voice, "Chanchan, are you sure that you cannot do anything?" If they couldn’t connect with the beast goddess, then she was worried that nothing would be able to save them.

Ruan Chanchan understood that the situation was rather delicate, but how was she supposed to connect with the beast goddess when she had never done it even once!

"Darling, you are worried for nothing. Why will you need the beast goddess when you have me? Just take a look at the condition of this prince, and I will help you out." Xiao Xi immediately comforted Ruan Chanchan, who, in turn, rolled her eyes and remarked, "yeah but there was a chance that if I prayed to the beast goddess, it would have done better if I could have done that."

Xiao Xi: "...."

He slowly peered up at the woman who was speaking just about anything and remarked, "You do realise that if you pray to the beast goddess, then you will have to meditate for, like, years? Do you even realise how easy I have made some things for you?"

The poor system felt like its main motherboard was sparking hot. How dare this woman not understand the effort that he was putting in for her? The things she could receive in a matter of a few seconds were something that no one could get for aeons of worship. How dare she look down at him? He was furious. He was angry.

And he had no way to vent.

He was wronged to the point where he wanted to yell, but he couldn’t because this woman was his host! Damn it!

Ruan Chanchan batted her eyes and, with a shameless expression, said, "But I did cultivate for a long time, didn’t I? Tell me, can there be anyone else who lived as many lives as I did? Was it any different from doing cultivation for ages?"

Xiao Xi: "..."

He had no answer for that!

When Ruan Chanchan saw that the system had finally quietened down, she revealed a sly and smug smile. This little one had gotten more and more out of control.

Fortunately, she knew how to control this little one.

"How severe is the injury?" Ruan Chanchan asked, putting the task of dealing with her little system to one side. She pursed her lips and thought about how Aunt Baidi wouldn’t have asked her to connect with the beast goddess if the condition of the mer was treatable.

His condition must be really severe, or else Aunt Baidi wouldn’t be asking for the beast goddess’s help.

"It’s very severe." Aunt Baidi’s brows furrowed in tension and helplessness. "His belly was cut open, and he was brought to the tribe. But there is nothing that Priestess Yuan can do to save him, and the wound is too deep for even you to help—his insides are falling out. Including his innards."

"Is he even breathing?" Yuan Ni asked when he heard the severity of Rong Xian’s condition. With his belly cut open, could that mer even be alive?

"Of course, he is alive. What nonsense are you spouting?" Aunt Baidi glared at the little mer, who was speaking whatever came to his mind. Did he realise what kind of trouble Rong Xian’s death might bring to them?

Aunt Baidi wanted to carry Ruan Chanchan with her to where Rong Xian was, but she didn’t dare to be disrespectful toward her.

Ruan Chanchan glanced at her brother and asked, "Will the tribe be in big trouble if this mer is not treated?"

"I suppose so," Ruan Zeqiu answered with a frown. "He is the prince of the whales; if something were to happen to him, I am afraid that the people of the Super Killer Whale tribe won’t leave the matter alone."

"But we didn’t kill him—"

"Whales are vengeful. They are not going to listen to reason; when they get angry, they will do just about anything. Do you think they will think before attacking our tribe? In their eyes, we will be nothing but sinners who watched their prince die without doing anything." Ruan Zeqiu sighed.

Ruan Chanchan: "..." So basically, they are psychotic killer whales who will kill anyone and anything when they get angry.

She rubbed the space between her brows and said to Aunt Baidi, "Take me there, Aunt Baidi. I will see if there is anything that I can do." She didn’t want to get involved, but who asked this prince to be so strong that he could kill her at any time?

It was better to treat him lest his mama bear come to whoop their arses.

It’s just my luck that I ran into a prince who turned out to be Mama’s little prince. Ruan Chanchan thought with an annoyed expression.

"Are you sure, Chanchan?" Aunt Baidi asked with a worried look on her face. "You might not know this but the queen of whales cares for this son of hers a lot. If something happens to him, I am afraid that you will be executed without your body remaining intact."

"Are–"

"Who dares!"
