Chapter 198: Chapter 198: BJ?

Lucian paused for a brief moment before asking in a cold voice, "What does she want?"

Mr. Crow practically wanted to point at Lucian and tell Lana, "See! He has double standards when it comes to you! Can’t you feel it?"

However, he couldn’t deny the palpitation in his heart whenever he faced Lucian; hence, he remained silent, only grumbling inwardly.

"She is saying that her car broke down and wants a lift." The driver told her, and Lana wasn’t surprised. The driver had an enhanced hearing superpower; even without checking on the so-called Miss Everhart in person, he was still able to know what she was speaking.

"Tell her to contact a mechanic," Lucian said calmly, and the driver got out of the car.

Lana frowned slightly before asking in a nonchalant voice, "Who is this Miss Everhart?"

"Just a passerby," Lucian said in a casual voice, but when he felt Lana’s gaze still fixed on him, he sighed internally, thinking that Lana was indeed a curious person.

"She is a secretary my uncle has recently planted in my company."

Lana froze, hearing his words. It was as if someone had turned her mute.

Mr. Crow was still seeing the car seats one moment; however, the next moment, the scene in front of him changed.

This time, he found himself at the bar counter. Turning a bit, his peripheral view caught sight of Lana, sitting on a black barstool chair, which contrasted perfectly with her white dress. Her ink-black hair was let loose, giving her a goddess-like aura, while her black eyes looked hazy.

He heard her say in a drunk voice, "Hector, do you think Lucian might have ever liked anyone in the past?"

"Hard to say." Hector’s drunk voice echoed, and Mr. Crow realized that Hector was on the other side of the bar counter, making drinks like a robot.

"Hmm... I refuse to believe that he doesn’t like anyone! Even I had liked someone for a silly reason. Even though it was never love, everyone feels attracted during their teenage years!" Lana murmured.

"If you put it like that, there were indeed three women whom the boss liked," Hector replied in a dazed voice.

"He did? Who were they?" Lana, though looking drunk, widened her eyes as if she was trying her best to stay away. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

However, Mr. Crow only felt his heart aching terribly. The anxiety in Lana’s heart was slowly building up.

Suddenly, he understood something. The anxiety attacks Lana had in this life were something that Lana had earned from her past life. A life so traumatic that in this life... she has anxiety attacks at even the slightest events.

"Hm, there is a woman that Lucian has been trying to find, but till now, there is no news of her. There was, in the past, a woman named Vanessa, who was the boss’s childhood sweetheart. She helped to get over hard times, and Boss might have liked her."

"What about the third woman?" Lana tried to sound nonchalant; however, if Hector was sober enough, he would have seen her crumbling little by little.

"The third woman was Miss Everhart. She loved Lucian ferociously and loyally. Even though she was a spy planted by Lucian’s uncle in Lucian’s company, she remained loyal till the last breath of her life. Lucian often thinks of her sacrifice."

Mr. Crow felt a dull ache spreading through his chest and pursed his lips.

Even though he wanted to curse Lucian for being a player, there was a certain thing that a person couldn’t deny...

Everyone has a past. And Lucian had one too. And in that past... there might be a woman whom he might have loved more than Lana or less than Lana.

However, if Lucian still couldn’t get over the past and mistreated Lana... then his love was cheap.

Just as he thought, the vision in front of him broke like a glass shattering into millions of pieces, and he heard Lucian’s calm voice, "Is the matter taken care of?"

"Yes, sir." The driver replied and got into the seat. What he didn’t say loudly was... Miss Everhart even went ahead and mentioned that she was having period cramps.

The driver knew well that though his boss hated having an ambiguous relationship with a woman, he would absolutely not ignore a woman in need.

So he made necessary arrangements on his behalf. This was an unspoken rule that Lucian had set.

He never did anything for any woman, but he always made sure that they didn’t suffer until and unless they crossed his bottom line.

His bottom line? Invading his private space or spreading rumors of how they are together with Lucian.

Lana stared outside the window a bit wistfully before recovering quickly.

’Come on, Lana! Don’t act so heartbroken! At most, you can hire a male model to entertain you!’

Mr. Crow: "..." This woman... why does she always catch me off guard, huh?

Lucian’s gentle voice echoed, "We don’t have any relationship other than professional."

"Hm." Lana nodded earnestly before adding, "No need to give me such an explanation. Even we don’t have any relationship other than professional."

The words fell between them like a thin sheet of ice.

Lucian’s fingers tightened almost imperceptibly around the armrest. For a brief second, his gaze lingered on Lana’s profile, the calm tilt of her chin, and the faint curve of her lips that looked far too composed.

Too clean. Too detached.

’Professional,’ she had said. The word echoed unpleasantly in his mind.

"Hm." His voice was low when he responded, carrying an emotion even he hadn’t fully sorted out. "That’s correct. And since it is a professional relationship, should I receive something too?"

"What do you want, Mr. Lucian?" Lana gave a smile that could cut through a knife.

"How about a BJ?" Lucian’s voice was still gentle, as if he wasn’t the one who was asking for an unspeakable thing.

Lana and Mr. Crow fell open. For a moment both of them felt as if they had misheard.
