Return of the Mythic Bloodline-Chapter 373: Nymeria’s wedding
There were two types of beings who could unlock the realm of Godhood and wield Divine Soulforce. The first were those who were born as mortals but ascended to the High-Tier Realm by nurturing the Seed of Divinity.
Voltrex was one such person. He was born a human but reached the Demi-God Realm by growing the Seed of Divinity. Once the seed sprouted and grew into a sapling, he would have become a True God, gaining far greater control over Divine Soulforce.
Then there were beings who possessed the Seed of Divinity since birth. They did not follow the realm ascension of their species. The Heavens bestowed upon them their own path. Nymeria and Taranis were such beings.
From what little was known about the Ancient Beast Gods, the
God of Hunt and Stealth—Vyaghra,
God of Strength—Jambavan, and
God of Protection—Ruru,
were the only mortal beasts who had reached the realm of Primordial Beast and attained Godhood. They were the symbols of absolute power during the Forgotten Era.
Meanwhile, the Nine-Tailed Gumiho, who had been born with divinity from the very beginning, surpassed even them. She was rumored to be only a single step away from becoming a Higher God before she was sealed in the Forest of Gumiho.
And now, such legendary beings had infiltrated the Hundred Sky Mountains. Even if they gathered every last cultivator they possessed, Aurelion knew they would be slaughtered in a one-sided massacre by just one of these gods, not to mention that three of them stood before him.
Aurelion closed his eyes and then reopened them, withdrawing his Soulforce Pressure. In a low voice laced with Soulforce, he announced, "The Azure Sky Competition of year 1011 ends here."
"King Aurelion, I request you to seal the exit of the mountain. Do not let anyone leave," Ume said just as Aurelion was about to dismiss everyone to their respective mountains.
He stared at Ume with an unreadable expression for a few seconds. He closed and opened his eyes again, making his decision.
"No one is allowed to leave Heaven’s Sovereign Peak unless I command otherwise. The order must be strictly followed."
Giving a brief glance at Titan and Aethon, he continued, "There must be no exception to this order."
"King Aurelion, the Rockbanes do not come under your jurisdiction. You cannot stop—"
"If you wish to leave the mountain against the request of Her Majesty, I will gladly send you on your way, mortal," Vyaghra muttered, an aura of ominous darkness filling the entire tower.
"Titan, agree while they are requesting instead of ordering," Barbatos snapped. "We do not want to be dragged down because of your arrogance."
Titan clenched his fists in frustration, veins bulging across his forehead. After a brief pause, he muttered, "Alright."
Only then did the cold dagger at his neck vanish. In the next moment, Vyaghra was standing on one side of Lucifer while Jambavan stood on the other, removing his grip from Aethon’s face.
---
"Goddess Gumiho, may you tell us the reason for your visit to the Hundred Sky Mountains?" Aurelion asked as he sat upon the Heaven’s Sovereign throne inside the castle.
Beside him, Lunaria sat upon her throne, while Nymeria and Doran were seated a few feet below on either side of the royal seats.
Below in the hall, all the Sect Leaders and Ancestor of Thunderbanes, Robert, sat in their respective seats placed parallel to one another, facing each other across the red carpet running through the middle of the hall.
Four additional seats had been placed in the council for the three gods and Lucifer.
"I only came here because he wished it," Ume said, her gaze turning toward Lucifer.
Now everyone’s attention shifted to Lucifer, their faces filled with countless questions.
The second floor, where the heirs of each sect including Ignis, Lyra, and Thorin were present, also had their gazes fixed on Lucifer.
Lyra and Thorin had known from the beginning that Lucifer was not ordinary because of the battle experience and strength he possessed. Everyone including themwanted to know just one thing.
Who could this person be who could make even the Goddess Gumiho follow him? Surely he must be a god on par with the Beast Gods. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
"Lord Lucifer, may you reveal your identity and the reason for coming to the Hundred Sky Mountains?" Aurelion asked. Although his voice remained cold, there was reverence hidden beneath it.
Lucifer frowned at Aurelion’s respectful tone. He did not like being addressed as Lord by his father-in-law. However, he hid his displeasure behind the façade of a straight face and revealed,
"I am Lucifer Morningstar, disciple of Goddess Gumiho."
His revelation caught the three gods completely off guard. Jambavan almost broke into laughter while Vyaghra shook his head in disappointment. Meanwhile, Ume merely stared daggers at him, clearly unwilling to be acknowledged as his master.
"Oh, that explains a lot about your strength," Barbatos said from the opposite side, his usual playful smile returning to his face. "And why has the disciple of Goddess Gumiho visited the Hundred Sky Mountains?"
"I heard the tales about the might of the Thunderbanes. Being a lightning user myself, I wanted to see where I stand among the descendants of such warriors," Lucifer lied with a straight face.
Silence followed.
They all knew that Lucifer must have been extremely disappointed after discovering that the Thunderbanes of this generation were pathetically weak.
He must have even doubted the credibility of their might if this was the level of their descendants.
"That still does not explain why you tried to kill the heir of the Flamebanes," Aethon demanded. He was barely restraining himself. The humiliation of his son being beaten to half death, and him being completely dominated before he could even reach the perpetrator, had left a deep wound on his pride.
"I never intended to kill him. I even restrained myself to Calamity-Class lightning while fighting him," Lucifer responded calmly. "Yet he went overboard and tried to kill me every chance he got. I merely defended myself in response."
"Y-you—"
Aethon wanted to retort but controlled himself. No one could deny Lucifer’s claim. They had all sensed the murderous intent Ignis was emitting toward Lucifer during the battle.
After a brief silence, Aurelion asked in a calm voice, "If this is the only reason for your visit to the Hundred Sky Mountains, then why did you request that the exit of the mountain be sealed?"
The council waited for the answer in anticipation. Their hearts raced as Lucifer opened his mouth to respond.
"Because we do not wish for news about our stay here to spread outside the Hundred Sky Mountains. You may open the entrance once we have left this place."
Now came another problem. How long did these gods intend to stay here? They could not possibly ask such a question directly, but they needed a definite answer. They could not remain imprisoned here if their stay extended to a month or even a year.
"Do not worry. Our visit here will be brief. We will leave in a few days," Lucifer said, sensing their distress.
The council let out a collective sigh of relief.
Now that everything seemed settled, Aurelion announced in a calm voice, "We are blessed to receive guests of your status in the Hundred Sky Mountains. We will ensure that there is no shortcoming in our hospitality. Also..."
Aurelion clenched his fists around the armrest of the throne, barely concealing the frustration behind his expression as he continued,
"Tomorrow, a royal wedding will be held in the Hundred Sky Mountains. As the king, I request your presence and your blessings for the ceremony. The bride is my daughter... Nymeria El Snowbane. And the groom is Ignis El Flamebane"
