Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes-Chapter 199: Christina Crystal
"You... what did you say?" Lana almost had the urge to go to an ENT specialist. There was no way Lucian would have said it!
"BJ?" Lucian frowned as if he were talking about the most natural thing.
"Do you even know the full form?" Lana was filled with disbelief and asked.
"Yes. Doesn’t it mean "biscuits and jam"?
For two whole seconds, the car was so silent that even the hum of the engine felt unbearably loud.
Lana stared at Lucian.
Mr. Crow stared at Lucian.
Even the driver’s shoulders stiffened, though he wisely pretended he had suddenly lost his sense of hearing.
"...Biscuits," Lana repeated slowly, as if testing each syllable, "and jam?"
Lucian nodded, completely composed. "Yes. Is there a problem?"
Mr. Crow’s beak twitched violently. ’He is lying!’
Lana blinked once. Twice. Then she laughed.
It wasn’t loud or unrestrained, but a soft, breathy sound that slipped out before she could stop it.
She raised a hand to cover her mouth, her shoulders shaking faintly.
"Mr. Lucian," she said after a moment, her eyes glinting, "do you have any idea what kind of misunderstanding you just caused?"
Lucian frowned, finally sensing something was off. His gaze flicked briefly to Mr. Crow, whose feathers were still puffed up as he’d just survived a life-and-death battle, then back to Lana.
"Judging by your reaction," he said coolly, "I assume there is an alternative interpretation?"
"Oh, there is," Lana replied meaningfully. "And it’s definitely not something you should be saying with that calm face."
Lucian paused. Then, slowly, realization dawned.
His brows knit together, and for the first time since Lana had met him, a faint crack appeared in his composure. "...I see."
"It’s alright... I am the one with a dirty brain." Lana murmured, truly feeling ashamed.
How could she even doubt someone as pure as Lucian? He is the epitome of innocence.
Soon they reached the university gate, and Lana’s exit couldn’t have been any more hurried.
Mr. Crow perched on Lana’s shoulder and complained, "Lana, I still think he was lying! How can someone not know the meaning of ’BJ’? Even I, as a crow, know it!"
Lana cast a disdainful glance and rolled her eyes. "How can you both be the same? He is civilized," Lana finished coolly, flicking Mr. Crow’s beak away with one finger.
"Unlike you, who probably learned every inappropriate term within the first hundred years of existence."
Mr. Crow squawked indignantly, flapping once to regain his balance. "Excuse me? I am a creature of ancient wisdom! Knowledge is my curse!"
"Your curse is having no filter," Lana retorted, straightening her bag as she walked toward the university gate.
"Anyhow... I think you trust him too blindly. One day he would sell you, and you would still be counting money!"
"Alright! Alright! Don’t be so serious!" Lana waved at her.
.........................
In the car.
"B... Boss." The driver called in a hesitant voice, while Lucian started to work on his laptop.
A faint hum from his side encouraged the driver to say what he wanted to say.
"That... BJ means..."
"I know." Lucian’s calm, indifferent voice cut in before the driver could finish.
The driver’s throat bobbed as he swallowed. "...You do, sir?"
Lucian’s fingers paused briefly over the keyboard. Only briefly. Then they resumed typing, steady and precise. "I am not ignorant."
The driver nearly slammed the brakes out of shock, but years of professional training saved him. He gripped the steering wheel tighter instead. "T-Then earlier..."
A faint smile appeared on Lucian’s handsome face, almost making him look ethereal, but the driver only felt pity for Lana. That girl was done! She has attracted the attention of a demon.
"What do you think?" Lucian’s words, full of ambiguity, echoed in the car.
The driver broke out in a cold sweat, fully knowing that he had crossed a line. He asked too much. But he quickly thought of a way to save his ass and asked cautiously.
"Should I... address Miss Lana as madam now?"
There was a flicker of surprise followed by amusement in Lucian’s eyes, and he said, "Do as you please."
The driver heaved a sigh of relief and thought in his heart, ’Thanks to my quick thinking, otherwise, today... I would have lost my job.’
At the same time, he knew that it was time to reevaluate the weight Lana holds in Lucian’s heart.
................
During her morning lectures, Lana was slightly distracted. Sometimes her face turned a bright shade of red, while other times she looked horrified.
It was a sight that baffled everyone, including Quinn.
Resisting the urge to go and ask Lana directly, Quinn kept sneaking glances at her from the side.
’Did she eat something bad?’ Quinn wondered, watching as Lana stared at the board with an intensity that didn’t quite match the lecture.
When the teacher arrived, Lana finally forced herself to focus. The first lecture was the analysis of the ghost. The teacher assigned was Miss Christina.
She was a petite woman with a weak voice; however, her confident demeanor and beautiful features overpowered her flaws.
With her chestnut hair tied into a messy bun and a white silk shirt paired with a black skirt that reached till her knees, she looked professional and stern.
"Everyone, since it is our first class of this semester, let’s begin with an introduction to make sure that you haven’t forgotten me yet."
Everyone knew that it was for Lana’s sake, but they still followed, and after them, Christina began hers.
"I am Christina Crystal. My current cultivation rank is Celestial Rank stage, and my mystic energy is at SS-Rank. Now I will begin with my subject. Before I start, I would like to ask a common question. Are you ready?"
Whenever nodding, Christina asked in a calm voice, "What are the things that will fuel possession?"
Betty raised her hand, and Christina motioned for her to answer.
"A weak mental state or constantly surrounding oneself with negative energy. Like going to a cemetery or near ghost portal zones."
