Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 114 - 68: He Is the Craziest One
Sang Luo was utterly shaken. "You! A Soul Mark can only be placed once. Aren’t you afraid I’ll erase it? You’ll become a Wandering Beast then!"
A thin sheen of sweat covered Duotu’s face as he smiled miserably. "I don’t care. If you want to erase the mark, then go ahead and erase it!"
"...Do you really think I’ll go soft?" Sang Luo laughed in fury. "How much of what you say is even true?"
"Luoluo, every word I’ve said to you is true! I haven’t lied to you!"
The bed curtains swayed and tangled. On the wall, silhouettes merged and parted, on and on without end.
"What... what will it take... for you to let me go?" she asked, her voice faint and weak.
He suddenly hugged her tight, burying his face in the crook of her neck. A low, suppressed growl rumbled in his throat as he pleaded,
almost begging,
"A child... Give me a child, and I’ll let you leave."
"Ugh, you bastard!"
"Call me a bastard, call me despicable, I don’t care. Just give me one, won’t you?"
’Her heart wasn’t with him anymore. It seemed she could leave him at any moment. If, one day, he truly couldn’t keep her, then at the very least, he had to have their child!’
Over the next month, Sang Luo was lucid for only a handful of moments. In a daze, she heard a Beastman at the door with a message: he was needed for matters of the court. Only then did Duotu pull away, finally giving her a chance to breathe.
Sang Luo lay in bed for a long while, her throat parched. She used her Water Ability to instantly cleanse her body, then threw on some clothes and got out of bed. Her legs gave out, and she nearly collapsed.
’Damn! My whole body aches! This is the first time I’ve been in such a wretched state afterward that I’ve had to use my Healing Technique.’
The sight of the bottles and jars scattered on the floor made a vein throb in Sang Luo’s temple.
’So he was the craziest one of all!’
Sang Luo composed herself, finished dressing, and walked to the desk. She opened a drawer, took out the invitation inside, and instantly vanished from the palace.
The next moment, she appeared on a bustling, old-fashioned street. It was lined with tile-roofed stone houses, none of them taller than five stories.
Valru City, a medium-sized town with a population of two to three hundred thousand, was considered fairly prosperous.
The Beast World was vast and sparsely populated, so the streets weren’t crowded with Beastmen. However, one part of the city was exceptionally lively.
She glanced at the address marked on the invitation and headed over with a smile.
It was a recently opened eatery. Though not large—only three stories tall—it was packed with customers.
Sang Luo went straight to the back kitchen. She had intended to ask an employee where the owner was, but then she spotted a familiar, slender figure. A smirk touched her lips as she teased, "Already the boss and still washing dishes yourself? You certainly know how to save on labor costs."
"Madam, you’re here!"
Little Bai turned, and her face lit up when she saw her. Abandoning the dishes, she quickly grabbed a dry towel, wiped her hands, and hurried over with a smile. "Madam, I sent you the invitation over a month ago! When you didn’t come, I was afraid you were too busy and wouldn’t be able to make it at all."
"I promised I’d come, and I always keep my promises. But I was... tied up recently." Sang Luo said, her eyes scanning the eatery’s decor. It was done in a classical solid wood style and was quite elegant. She retrieved an intricately carved fragrant wood figurine in the shape of a lucky cat from her storage space. "It’s a shame I missed your grand opening. This is a little something for you. I hope it’s not too late."
"That’s not important at all," Little Bai chuckled. "Just by being here, Madam, you make my humble eatery shine! But you came without any warning, and I didn’t even have time to tidy up. I must be a sight. Let me go change my clothes." Little Bai happily accepted the gift and handed it to a nearby employee to place on the front counter.
"You’re much more cheerful now. Life here is much better than it was back with your family, isn’t it?"
"There’s no comparison at all!"
Little Bai quickly changed her clothes. After giving a few instructions to two employees, she led Sang Luo to a VIP private room on the third floor. She cooked a dozen or so dishes herself, and without Sang Luo having to say a word, they were all her favorite things to eat.
Sang Luo took a sip of duck blood and vermicelli soup, followed by a piece of sweet and sour fish that was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. She sighed with satisfaction. "I haven’t tasted your cooking in so long. It tastes just the same—no, it’s even more delicious than before."
"Oh, Madam, don’t tease me," Little Bai said. "The gourmet food at the Beast King Palace must be much better than my simple home cooking."
"That’s really not true." Other than Lan Cang, she was most used to the food Little Bai made.
Thinking of Lan Cang, she wondered how he was doing. As always, she received a large box of Beast Crystals from an anonymous address each month. The deliveries had paused only once—during the month she moved to the Beast King Palace—but had resumed the very next month.
Sang Luo had once returned to the manor where she had lived with Caesar. It was long deserted by then. The servants had been dismissed, and a thin layer of dust and fallen leaves covered the ground, a clear sign that no one had tended to the place for a long time.
The windows had all been smashed by unknown Beastmen. Inside, the furniture, decorations, and anything of value had been looted. What couldn’t be carried away was smashed to pieces. The entire house was a wreck, leaving barely a place to stand.
