Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 427 serious injuries
[Elizabeth’s Perspective]
"What did you say? His Highness used ’New Birth?’"
I heard a surprised voice coming from behind, and both I and Dean Andrew instinctively turned to look.
It was Lord Benjamin, the Medical Practitioner of the Lycan King, squatting next to Margaret and me, his forehead drenched in cold sweat!
Christian nodded at him, his eyes holding some gravity and obscurity that I couldn’t comprehend.
My gaze shifted back and forth between the two of them, and seeing the atmosphere slightly stagnate, I stuttered, "You...both of you, are you talking about the same ’New Birth’ that was used on Anthony before? Are you saying Margaret also used that concoction just now?"
"I heard from Dean Andrew that you found no side effects on Anthony, so why did both of you look so horrified just now? Is there something I do not know?"
As I spoke, I slowly came to my senses and widened my eyes at Benjamin, urgently asking, "’New Birth’ has side effects on pregnant she-wolves? Is that what you are worried about?"
Benjamin and Christian were silent for a second or two before they looked at me and nodded.
I slumped to the ground, my stiff neck turning to look at Margaret beside me, my heart plummeting into an abyss!
"Is there any way to do it? I mean, to terminate the effects of ’New Birth’ prematurely, or perhaps to pump her stomach?" I spoke up again after thinking of something.
Benjamin just quietly watched Andrew busy with Margaret, then finally turned to look at me and said softly, "There’s no other way, Miss. ’New Birth’ is administered through muscle or vascular injection; stomach pumping wouldn’t do any good!"
He said this and turned to Christian, continuing, "You clearly knew ’New Birth’ was still in its third experimental phase, why didn’t you stop the Lycan Queen? You should think about how you’re going to explain this to His Majesty!"
"OK! I know this isn’t the right time for such discussions. Go let General Lucas deploy two squads here; we must get His Majesty and the Lycan Queen out immediately! His Majesty’s external injuries are too severe, and even with ’New Birth’, he still needs much more advanced medical equipment for treatment! And the situation with the Lycan Queen...is even more complicated, they can’t afford any delay at all!"
Perhaps this is just the natural rational thinking of a medical practitioner. As Christian was mired in his emotions, it was he who took charge of the situation.
At that moment, Dean Andrew also raised his head to look at us, his expression grave. Yet when he spoke, he brought us some really good news, "I detected a very weak vital sign inside the Lycan Queen! The young prince should be alright for now, but we need to leave quickly, for the Lycan Queen requires a thorough examination and treatment!"
I also gathered my senses then, quickly getting up from the ground, "Then let’s get out of here quickly! We’ll leave the battlefield cleanup to General Lucas, as for..."
As I spoke, I remembered Margaret earlier, desperately wanting to kill Henry, and glanced toward the figure on the ground not far away.
I thought for a moment then asked, "How are you going to deal with that body? I think when Margaret wakes up, she might want to personally verify his death."
"I understand, Miss! We’ll take Henry’s body back, along with capturing Austin, rest assured." It was Christian who responded, then turned and left, summoning a few soldiers who started to deal with Henry’s body.
Actually, none of us had fully recovered yet, nor did we find it strange that Henry, the rebel leader, had died by Margaret’s hand; we were too stunned by the simultaneous severe injuries of the Lycan King and the Lycan Queen and had no energy left to think about anything else.
When we had planned to quickly transport Margaret and Donald out, I noticed a man standing next to Donald’s stretcher whom I didn’t recognize.
The man seemed very concerned about Donald’s condition and when he noticed something unusual here, he immediately broke away from the enemies around him and ran over with his gun! From Elliot’s words, I learned that this was a good friend of Donald’s from the Lilo Sea, and he also helped Margaret and Donald a lot in this battle.
I heard Elliot call him Mr. Gino, but his way of speaking and handling things didn’t seem like those of someone from the political circles of the Lilo Sea.
It wasn’t until later, when Margaret had regained consciousness and I was chatting with her, that I found out this Mr. Gino was actually the head of the Werewolf Gang of the Lilo Sea, a legendary figure indeed!
After another hectic hour, we finally reached the departure dock of Poison Snake Island.
I had thought earlier that we might be leaving the mysterious island directly by helicopter.
But Anthony shook his head and looked at me, gently explaining, "The surrounding Mist Sea Region of Poison Snake Island is very peculiar; a helicopter could get lost due to the radar malfunctioning."
