Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 113 - 67: Bear Me a Child
Duotu’s criteria for choosing a mate were obvious: strong Fertility, someone who suited his tastes, and preferably, someone with no family background.
She was his best choice.
Martha Brent and Duotu were cut from the same cloth. And for that very reason, he would never like her, let alone tolerate being schemed against and used by the person sharing his bed. He had clearly ruled Martha Brent out long ago.
’He’s keeping Martha Brent around, but who knows what he’s plotting to do with her. Martha Brent fancies herself a master of psychological games, but she’s probably been nothing more than his pawn for a long time.’
’Of course, on the bright side, maybe the two of them had actually fallen in love. It would be best if Martha Brent could just pull her weight and get pregnant with Duotu’s child soon.’
Sang Luo had only tried to cultivate feelings for Duotu to make sleeping with him more bearable. Now, all that was left was disgust, so she naturally had no desire to bear his child anymore.
Sang Luo was in high spirits. While strolling through the Flower Sea Forest, she ran into the two of them flirting and was even able to greet them with a smile.
"Luoluo..."
Duotu froze, apparently not expecting to see her. But then, as if remembering something, his expression darkened, and he turned and walked away.
Martha Brent shot a meaningful glance between the two of them before following him away.
Amman exclaimed, "Your Highness, that look she gave you was pure provocation!"
"You seem to have a strong opinion of Martha Brent, don’t you?"
"To become the Queen, she dismissed all her Beast Husbands. After learning her true colors, many of the Male Beastmen in the palace can’t stand her."
Martha Brent’s public reputation was far from stellar.
"Just to satisfy her ambition, she abandoned those Beast Husbands for no reason. Now, they’ll be looked down on for the rest of their lives. It will be incredibly difficult for them to find new partners, so they’re destined to die old and alone."
"It’s because there are too many heartless females like her that so many Male Beasts become Wandering Beasts..."
Sang Luo hadn’t expected to hear this backstory. She asked curiously, "What rank were her partners?"
"She had eleven partners. Most of them were Seventh Rank, with only two at the Sixth Rank Peak."
High Rank Beastmen of the Sixth and Seventh Rank are considered outstanding Beastman Warriors anywhere. Think of their pride! Yet she abandoned them without a second thought, reducing them to pitiful low-class beasts. No wonder even good-natured Amman was so indignant on their behalf.
"A Seventh Rank Beastman... can’t find another partner?" Sang Luo felt a pang in her heart. She thought of Lan Cang. Perhaps it was a case of imprinting—he was her first man, a very special presence in her heart.
"Leaving aside having children, once a Seventh Rank Beastman erupts into a genetic frenzy, it takes a female of the Fifth Rank or higher to soothe them. Those females certainly wouldn’t be willing to marry down, while Mid-high Rank females look down on them for having lost their Primordial Yang. So, they’re left in an awkward position."
"Except for King Beasts, who have the right to choose their female partners and don’t have to worry about being abandoned, most ordinary Male Beasts are always at a disadvantage in this regard," Amman said.
"So, you really have to be careful when choosing a partner and not be fooled by appearances." Sang Luo’s words were a reminder to herself as well.
’From now on, I’ll only look for King Rank Beastmen. I won’t ruin any more innocent youths below that rank.’
Meanwhile, Sang Luo had remained emotionally distant from Duotu. The rumors in the palace were spreading like wildfire, and she had caught wind of some of them.
They said that many nobles and ministers at court had jointly petitioned for Martha Brent to be the new Queen.
Duotu had apparently been dealing with a rebellion at the border recently, so the matter was put on hold for the time being. But judging by his coldness toward her over the past few months, his patience with her had finally worn thin.
’I’m finally getting through this.’
One night, Duotu, whom she hadn’t seen in a long time, suddenly appeared in her bedchamber. Sang Luo smelled the strong reek of alcohol on him. Remembering what happened last time, she became wary. "What do you want now?"
Duotu stared at her and, without a word, began to undress.
"You!"
He said in a low voice, "I asked the witch doctor. Three months after giving birth, it’s possible to conceive again."
"..."
"We should start trying."
"Don’t even think about it!"
"Luoluo, give me a child. I need one." He carried her to the bed, leaned over, and grabbed her hands, his long fingers lacing through hers and pinning them down. He pressed his knee between her legs.
Sang Luo knew from last time that resistance was pointless. But her eyes were exceptionally cold—frighteningly so, making Duotu’s heart pound. "Three months. You’ve certainly counted the days precisely, not waiting a single day to come rushing to me... Don’t tell me you just finished sleeping with Martha Brent and now you want me to have your child?"
"I haven’t touched her."
"I don’t believe you."
"I’ve saved everything for you."
"..."
"Luoluo, just give me one! Whatever he can give you, I can give you too!" He lowered his head and bit down hard on Sang Luo’s wrist, and the Soul mark appeared.
