"It... It can’t be... it was killed by a famous hunter called Lightbringer." Goblin stuttered.

"Yeah, right... like that wimp could have killed anything back then." Uriel replied with a scoff as he closed the door.

"Wait! He needs help, he’s our friend!" Aster begged.

In order for Uriel’s plan to work, he needed to keep both hunters alive, but they were making it realy difficult for him. Left with no choice Uriel opened the door again revealing the wounded figure of Clayton, all bloodied with a deep cut on his belly. Instead of rushing to help him, though, Uriel fired his revolver two times.

One bullet hit Clayton right in between the eyes and the other on the chest.

"That should buy us some time." Uriel said as he closed the door.

Goblin and Aster couldn’t believe his eyes, his already wounded friend was shot dead right in front of their eyes and they could do nothing to stop it.

"You monster!" Aster crumbled like a house of cards and began crying, but Goblin’s reaction wasn’t that much different. In fact, Goblin cried even harder and he took as much distance as he could from Uriel. He didn’t have enough flux energy to activate his trait again and he had no chance against Uriel who was able to summon his weapon whenever he wanted.

"Please, don’t kill me... I’ll do anything so... don’t kill me." Goblin pleaded putting both hands together.

At that point Uriel didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Not even fifteen minutes ago Goblin was talking about killing him, but now that the power balance had reversed he begged for his life without any shame.

"Just keep quiet, help is on the way." Was all Uriel said in reply.

"But uur cellphones are dead and I tried using a battery and it didn’t work either. How did you call for help?" Aster whispered, but Uriel ignored her. He needed to remain as calm as possible to keep tabs on the cryptid using his mystical sense.

From time to time, the rustling sounds of things moving in the house and scratches on the wall were heard. Uriel didn’t think much of it as he knew it was just the skinwalker messing with their minds, but Goblin was having a hard time keeping still.

The redhead ranger apprentice wasn’t sure if he was more scared of Uriel or the suppposed cryptid, but those noises were so unsettling all he wanted was to leave the room.

"Help, please, someone." A pitiful voice cried and even if they knew it couldn’t possibly be Clayton, it still affected them.

"Why doesn’t that thing just breaks the door and kills us!?" Goblin let out as his mental state was about to break.

"They prefer to feed on people who’s been killed by their own friends or allies. Skinwalkers are moderately strong even for entity level cryptids, but they only attack directly if they feel cornered." All Uriel needed was silence and peace to focus no his mystical sense, but Goblin wasn’t cooperating and for a minute he thought of killing him.

However, now that he wasn’t under Water warlock’s influence anymore, killing a human being wasn’t as easy as it was before.

Besides, even if he was a nuisance that didn’t mean killing him was the only option. He could talk sense into him, reassure him, knock him out, there were many things he could do that should work just as well, he just didn’t like Goblin and still resented him for treating him like garbage.

’Just how warped is my moral compass? Could this be a residual effect from Water warlock’s influence?’ Uriel silently questioned himself. After all, he knew that thinking about killing someone just because he was annoying was wrong.

Just when he was about to sway something to calm his companions, the light of a gas lantern was seen crossing the gate that led inside the property.

"He’s here, we need to go outside." Uriel patted his knees and stood up.

"Who’s here? Tell us!" Goblin cried, but just like before Uriel ignored him and walked to the door.

"Why don’t we exit through the window?" Aster asked, her teeth clattering in fear, but the answer to her question was revealed as soon as Uriel opened the door.

"The body isn’t here!?"

"Of course it’s not, that thing is still alive and kicking."

The uncertainty of being jumped from anywhere was the scariest experience Goblin and Aster had ever experienced and as slowly and stealthily as the dim light allowed them, but Uriel walked with calm and confidence as he knew for certain that the cryptid was outside the window waiting to ambush them.

By the time they reached the door, the gas lantern that entered the property was already close enough to reveal that it wasn’t just one person but two.

"Prove your identity." Truesight said in a low tone of voice.

"Does this mean you believe me?"

"Just do as I said." Truesight insisted and Uriel summoned his revolver.

"That’s not going to cut it, kid." The man standing next to Truesight said as he threw a coin at Uriel who caught it in the air.

"Silver? So you do know..." Uriel muttered and then he touched Goblin and Aster with the silver coin, proving they were not skinwalkers.

"There’ll be enough time to talk. Where’s the skinwalker? "I’ll take care of it." The man said as he went to grab the gun on his belt, but Uriel stopped him.

"Why don’t you let me take care of it? Skinwalkers are really troublesome, but once you know how they behave they’re pretty easy and I want these guys to see what they look like."

"Alright then." The man shrugged.

Uriel walked directly towards the place where he knew the cryptid was hiding. Now that the cryptid realized there were more people nearby, it did the only thing he could think of to keep safe and disguised itself as the little child once more.

"No one’s falling for that act now." Uriel said to the pitiful figure in front of him, hoping it would shift into anybody else’s appearance since he didn’t want to have the memory of him killing a child even if he knew it was a cryptid. Fortunately for Uriel, the skinwalker realized there was no point in disguising anymore and took the shape of the strongest hunter it could mimick.

"You’re all going to die when mother finds about this." The skinwalker said with Medusa’s voice.
