Chapter 297: Unmasked

The battle in front of the mansion of the Royal Family was still happening and reached its peak at that moment. The Ridires and Frelsi were even on that fight, all gathered in the middle of the battlefield. Both forces were trying to push each other away, but they couldn’t get out of the middle.

The number of deaths was barely the same for both sides, although the Frelsis had a slightly major disadvantage on this matter. It all was because of Freygar’s clones, who could serve as troops and helped the Ridires, increasing their defensive army in numbers.

Freygar was looking at Rat with hatred in his eyes, he could see that the leader of those Frelsi was lurking around the battlefield, killing as many Ridires as he could, hiding in that fuss. He was probably waiting for the right time to sneak inside the mansion, or then attack Freygar to end with the number advantage that his army had.

Either way, Freygar could easily notice him. After all, since the start of the battle, he didn’t take his eyes off Rat no matter what. He found it a pity that his first shots didn’t strike him, but at least one of them scratched his arm. It wasn’t enough, obviously.

While following Rat with his eyes, Freygar also helped in the battle. His robust Helheim pistols were slaughtering the Frelsis at ease. They didn’t have the time to retaliate back. Meanwhile, he used his swiftness to get distant from them, avoiding being struck by any effect of their technologies or then get in the way of his own comrades.

They were in a dangerous type of battle, after all. It wasn’t just an exchange of bullets from far away, but also close combat, and there were numerous gadgets that they could use to shake the battlefield and turn the tables.

If one wasn’t fast and perceptive enough there, they would die in a matter of seconds.

However, the skillful way in which Freygar danced around the battlefield, leaving a track of blood and corpses behind, made that battle seem like child’s play for him. No one stood a chance against that overwhelming skill. Also, his clones had about the same knowledge as him, so the result was an army of powerful Aesirs.

The determination of the Frelsi, though, pushed them to their limits, making them fight masterfully, using all the resources they gathered in all those years of existence. That determination and self-denial were what made them tie that battle.

After trying so much, Freygar finally could reach Rat. Once he saw the opportunity, an opening between all those people fighting, he gave the first shoot, which nearly caught that criminal, missing by millimeters again.

’Damn! I can’t afford to make mistakes like this! If I can kill him, then everything will end. I need to do this!’

Freygar continued his pursuit after Rat, always shooting when he found a chance to do it. His mind was focused on his target, which made everything around him seem to be insignificant. He just wanted to end with that chaos, he wanted that the Castle where he was born in could have another chance to keep standing.

’I don’t even know what is happening down there, and that’s what hurts more. My friends may be getting slaughtered by now, and I can’t do anything instead of taking care of myself here!’

That frustration made the guy push himself to his limits, making everything he could do to destroy the Frelsi who was making all that mess on his home.

Anyone who got in his way, trying to disturb him, would die in a matter of seconds.

At some point, Rat didn’t run anymore, instead, he abruptly changed directions and rushed directly towards Freygar. The latter got surprised by his sudden change, but he was prepared for anything.

Rat’s rush added to Freygar’s made them close the distance quickly. The Cloned Aesir was raising his gun, ready to give a shot at close range on his enemy.

Nonetheless, Rat spun his body, stretching his leg, and giving a spin kick on his wrist. The kick was powerful enough to nearly break Freygar’s wrist, and it made him let go of one of the pistols.

The criminal followed with another kick, taking advantage of the momentum of his body. Its speed could even surpass the previous attack, but it was aimed at Freygar’s throat.

The Aesir ducked while stepping forward, trying to approach even more. The kick passed a few centimeters above his head. Since he was tall, and Rat short, that wasn’t the best dodging to do. Anyway, it was the ideal one for what he was planning.

Once he closed even more their distance, nearly hitting his head against Rat’s chest, the man used his legs as springs, moving his free hand upwards and giving an uppercut on Rat’s chin. Afterward, he raised his other hand aiming his pistol at him again.

Rat, though, didn’t lose his focus, even though he received a powerful punch. He gave a backflip while kicking Freygar’s hand again. The gun flew to the air.

Rat landed on the ground with precision, although he was quite dizzy. The criminal backed away several steps.

Freygar looked at his face with astonishment. That uppercut had knocked away the fake mask that was covering his face.

What Freygar saw in the half of her face that wasn’t covered by the broken brown mask, wasn’t the features of a man, just as everyone thought. In reality, Rat was a woman.

Once she noticed that the other mask had fallen, she sighed, shrugging.

"Well, well, it would happen at any time. I just wanted that the one discovering it was the ugly man with the white hair..." She pouted, seeming disappointed. "But, hey, no one will ever know if I kill you, right? So the surprise won’t get ruined!" She grinned, squinting her eyes while staring at Freygar.

The woman took off the hood, untying her long and silky black hair.

"It’s time to sleep, Cloned Aesir~"
