District 42-Chapter 296: Oracle part 2
Hypno got flabbergasted with Brenna’s words. It was impossible for her that someone would have such perception and intuition. The only explanation was that the power of the Oracle Aesir was nothing but true.
The woman wasn’t going to gamble there and suppose that she was using some sort of trick. It would be pointless, after all. The fact was that Brenna could, somehow, predict everything that was happening around her, and know things that she wasn’t supposed to know.
First of all, she shouldn’t be able to know about the illusion.
When Hypno and Brenna rushed towards each other in their first clash, right after their blades met, Hypno could land a blow on her with the tattoed arm.
Those tattoos were made specifically to confuse her enemies and play with their minds. When she was attacking, those drawings began to shine. It was enough to fool Brenna’s mind and put her into Hypno’s self-created world, where she could control everything as she pleased.
That illusion was too detailed. It was impossible to differentiate it from reality just by looking. That’s how frightening Hypno’s power was because no one could know when they would enter that simulation.
"Well, I need to say that you are good, Oracle." She spoke, walking slowly, rounding Brenna as if she was a wolf sieging its prey. "I don’t know whether you said the truth or not, but the thing is that you are right on your guess. Anyway, you are already stuck inside my simulation with me. Here, I can control everything I want, the way I find more convenient. Meanwhile, the Frelsi are still out there slaughtering your Ridires and maintaining our plan working."
Brenna shook her head.
"I know it. However, it doesn’t matter. All that matters is that you will win against me now. Any of the Aesirs will be able to win their battles. Our main priority here isn’t to win battles for honor, but to save the people that matter for us. That’s it."
The Oracle Aesir had a different voice now as if she had changed her personality suddenly. She seemed more mature, even wise. There was no deceptiveness behind her words. One could see clearly that Brenna was only saying the truth.
"Unfortunately, we won’t be doing it this time. But this fate served us as a precious apprenticeship. We learned here how it is to be defeated, how it is not being the strongest. The Castle, the Royal family, the Aesirs... everyone needed this blow on their pride, so they could focus on what really matters."
Hypno, flabbergasted, gave a step behind. She didn’t understand why she was doing it. Now both of them were enjailed on her simulation. She was almost like a God inside there. What she could or could not do was limited by her own imagination.
Nonetheless, there was something on Brenna’s words that gave her goosebumps. Her eyes were distant, she didn’t seem completely present there.
"S-Since you know everything, you must know why the Frelsi fight every single day, giving their lives and even turning into monsters to reach our main goal! You know about it, so why are you still beside the Royal Family? You know the truth, don’t you? You know very well the cruelty of this shitty district and everyone that is controlling it! You might know about the corruption, right? Why are you beside them if that’s the case!?"
Hypno’s words were bitter. Her voice showed that she was enraged with Brenna. She couldn’t accept that someone that knew the truth would be willing to stay beside those people.
"Because..." Brenna began to say, with a grim expression. "I can’t change anything. No matter what I try to do, I will always fail in the end. So I need to let destiny choose the person who will change it. You, Frelsis, already know who this person is, right?"
The Vanir reasoned for a while, but she didn’t need too much time for this. Everyone in District 42 knew who was the person who could do anything he wanted there.
"You Frelsis try to change the fate that befell on this district because of the Mad King, but you forget that you can’t fight against the current. You can’t spend all these years trying to change something you know you can’t. And even now you won’t be able to do it by yourselves. The problem is that you all are too hard-headed to notice it. Javir is too stubborn to lead his followers to a better path."
"What do you know about Javir or any other founder of the Frelsi, huh!? You know nothing! You don’t understand the pain of a commoner, a slave. These are people who need to survive every day. They don’t live their days, they just survive and survive! Someone like you, like Jarls, or anyone else on this idiot Castle, wouldn’t know a thing about it!"
Brenna shook her head, closing her eyes as if she was deeply disappointed about what she just heard.
"That’s the problem of the Frelsis, the major problem. You are trying so much to get free from these handcuffs, that you are enjailing yourselves on your own greed. That’s what happened with Javir, and it’s spreading on his followers as well. If the Frelsis turn to be the ones that will make the masks fall, then a new prison will raise among the people. That’s why the White warrior is the one that can lead people to freedom because he is the only who can learn by himself how it is to be truthfully free."
Hypno fell into denial. She couldn’t accept the Oracle’s words. On the contrary, that advice just made her angrier.
"Shut the hell up!" She roared, her eyes glazed at Brenna, who was still distant and not completely present.
Hypno rushed toward Brenna with killing intent.
The Oracle sighed. That wasn’t the first, nor the last time when people wouldn’t hear her. But that was just normal. After all, people met their destiny when trying to avoid it.
