Demon CEO's Hidden Love: Mr Grayson Stole Me From My Abusive Husband-Chapter 191: A Ghost From The Past
Chapter 191: A Ghost From The Past
News about Ethan’s alleged hidden wife and child caused a national stir, news houses and every trending influencer suddenly carried the news overnight, and the speculations on who the wife might be begun to spread.
Reading through the articles Brooke couldn’t help but laugh, "So karma does exist? Who would’ve thought her precious child was her undoing?" She thought aloud gazing out the window. She pinched her chin and cocked a sly grin, "Why do I have the feeling my husband is behind this?"
To confirm her thoughts she dialed his number but got interrupted by a phone call, seeing the caller ID Brooke immediately answered the phone. At first the person on the other end didn’t say a word but after a brief minute their soft voice whispered loudly into the phone.
"Brooke, how are you doing my darling?"
"Aunt Sarah!" Brooke’s eyes watered, "H-How are you doing? I didn’t expect you to call! I didn’t know you still had my number. Are you back in the country already?"
"I just flew in, I’m at your place but it seems no one’s home. Just where the hell is everyone?" Sarah asked.
Brooke was at a loss for words, "I-I don’t even know where to start. So much has changed since you left. But I’ve missed you every single day since you left." She recalled Serena’s sister who took care of her when she was younger, who had left the country for work, and by the sound of it had just returned.
Ethan had suspected she would reach out to her for help so he blocked and deleted her number from Brooke’s phone, hence why she hadn’t been able to contact her aunt.
"I’ve missed you too. But yes it does seem that things have changed, for now is there any way we can meet up and you can fill me in on everything that’s been happening since I left?"
Brooke twisted her lips, "I’ll be busy until late in the evening, but I’ll have someone pick you up." She said, as the driver pulled over at the filming location, thankfully it was early and the staff were busy setting up.
"Did Ethan finally let you work?! I’m so happy for you!" Sarah celebrated, but Brooke’s tone shifted, Sarah frowned when Brooke bid her goodbye but there was something off-putting about her voice.
Pulling the phone away she crinkled her brows, "She’s hiding something from me." Just as she said that a car pulled over at Luther’s place, an expensive looking car. Sarah knew that Luther was doing well with his agency, but not that well.
Her suspicions were conformed when her sister, Serena stepped out of the car dressed up fully in the company of a man she couldn’t seem to recall. Was her sister maybe cheating on her husband? Was that why she didn’t answer any of her calls the entire night? Was that why Serena stopped reaching out to her?
Immediately she strutted over to the two to get a clearer explanation of the situation, however upon getting closer, she soon recognized the stranger.
"Julian?" Sarah gasped, stunned to see her sister’s always drunken ex right in front of her and looking so polished she nearly didn’t recognize him.
Serena turned pale, "Sarah?! W-What the hell are you doing here?!"
Sarah scoffed, "Is that what this is? You’re cheating on your new husband with the old one? I know Luther is plenty shitty but I didn’t expect you to stoop this low." She said looking at Julian wondering how someone like him could’ve afforded such a nice car.
But Julian responded candidly, "I don’t know the misconception you’re having but I simply dropped Serena off. And no, we have not been in contact with each other until last night."
Serena laughed nervously, "Ah, you don’t have to explain anything to a woman who didn’t think twice before abandoning her family." She said deflecting the conversation.
But Sarah was more concerned with what business Julian had with Serena after over two decades of being apart. "So why are you two together? And does Luther know about this?" she demanded raising her phone to call Luther.
Serena swiftly tried to answer but Julian cut her off, "I don’t think my business here is of any importance to you, and as far as her husband is concerned I think he’s much more concerned over the police than his wife and family." Julian said before leaving in his car.
"The police? Hey Serena what the hell is he talking about? Why would the police be after Luther? And where the hell is Cassie? What’s going on?" she demanded, but her sister was not having it.
Aggressively she grabbed Sarah by the shoulders and glared daggers at her, "Listen here, I don’t care what hole you crawled out of, but if you know what the hell’s good for you, you’ll crawl right back. I’m not about to let some bitch ruin everything I’ve worked hard to create." She threatened pointing her finger.
Sarah slapped her sister’s hand away, "I thought that all that time apart you’d grown into a better person. Cassie’s father is being hunted by the police, have you even checked up on her? Why isn’t she home right now?" frёewebnoѵēl.com
"Please, spare me the fake concern. I can handle my daughter well enough I don’t-" right in the middle of her sentence, two maids frantically ran out of the house slicing through the conversation.
"Madam Crane! Bad news! Have you heard the news about Miss Cassie?!" one of the maids yelled holding her phone over her head.
"What news?!" Serena snapped her head, she snatched the phone out of the woman’s hand and read the post on her screen.
*Smash*
"Oh no!" Serena gasped and covered her mouth, dropping the phone smashing the screen.
"What happened?!"
Sarah crouched down and picked up the phone, she read the headlines and widened her eyes. "Cassie’s been admitted to the hospital?!" she yelled equally stunned at the news. She looked at her sister who looked like she would faint any moment, and immediately she rushed to her side, abandoning her bags.
"You two, call a cab! Now!" she ordered, guiding a shaken up Serena into the mansion.
