Chapter 128: Chapter 127: Genius Inscription Master

The instructors hurried to station nine. They wanted to see what was happening for themselves.

All the tools and materials provided for the competition are level one so that the participants could start on equal footing and showcase their basic skills.

For level 2 Inscription Masters to produce a level 2 product from level one material is understandable, but not level 1 Inscription master. After all, the difference between these two is as huge as a mountain looming over a valley.

As they approached, they could feel the energy emitting from the sword. The instructors exchanged glances, their expressions were a mix of curiosity and disbelief.

Meanwhile, Li Juanxin wasn’t doing too well himself. He felt a heavy pressure bearing down on him. It was getting harder for him to channel his spiritual energy and complete the remaining hand seals.

If he loses connection at this critical moment, all his efforts would turn into nothingness, and the engraving process will fail.

His hands trembled, sweat pooling at his brow as he fought to maintain focus, but it was clear that his spiritual energy was already depleted.

Instructor Ye saw that the kid couldn’t go on anymore. He was also curious to see the performance of this sword. Unfortunately, instructor Jin and Hao couldn’t take action directly.

As they are the Inscription teachers and any interference would seem like cheating to other participants.

He placed the palm of his hand on Li Juanxin’s back and channeled some of his spiritual energy into him.

As his friend, even if they only have a food relationship, he couldn’t let the kid’s effort go to waste. He was sure that the other instructions would understand the reason for his actions.

Li Juanxin suddenly felt his depleted strength return, he wasn’t sure about what was happening, but he was glad that it did. He regained his focus and performed the few last hand seals.

Soon, a brilliant surge of light erupted from the blade, enveloping the entire station in a dazzling glow. The vibration intensified, it was hard to go unnoticed. Everyone turned their attention back to station nine, their eyes were filled with awe.

"What’s happening over there?

"It can’t be another upgrade right?

"That’s impossible, maybe the upgrade failed."

"That’ll be too bad for the kid. The time is almost over. He won’t be able to start over."

"Maybe you guys are wrong."

As Li Juanxin formed the last seal, the blade returned to normal.

"It actually upgraded to level five!" Instructor Jin said in disbelief.

Li Juanxin staggered back in disbelief: "Did I really do that?" he couldn’t believe it.

Maybe it was his Inscription technique that was advanced. But if that’s the case, then why can’t he draw level 2 Inscription at home?

The more Li Juanxin thought about it, the more confused he became, so he decided to celebrate his achievements and stopped thinking.

"Five! It actually upgraded to level five!"

The crowd erupted into chaos, gasps and shouts filled the air.

"Well, even if he magically upgraded the sword to level 2, the time has already run out." A student said sourly.

Everyone looks at Li Juanxin with sympathy, after all, the competition is one hour, there’s no expectation. So even if he created a higher level product, as long as it wasn’t within the time limit, it was a failure.

"Hey, look! There’s still two minutes left!" Someone shouted from the crowd.

Everyone immediately looked at the clock. There were indeed two minutes left but something wasn’t right.

The clock hands were frozen. It was clear that the clock had been stuck to two minutes for a long time.

"Is the clock broken?"

Doubt mingled with awe among the crowd.

"Ahem, you can release the clock now. Everyone has noticed." A staff member pulled at Ms Xiao’s sleeve gently.

"Oh," Ms Xiao was a bit flustered.

You can call it an underhanded method, she was just trying to create an opportunity for the participants to showcase their skills without the oppressive pressure of time.

She waves her hands dismissively, and secretly removes the time freeze spell, while guiltily avoiding the staff member’s glare.

Because the results were so high, the winner of the competition was already in many hearts, but they still had to follow the proper procedures.

The four level 2 Inscription Masters that produced level 2 upgrades including He Zhihao, were promoted to the next round, along with Li Juanxin.

For the last round of the competition, instructor Gao, the combat instructor took over.

Instructor Jin and Hao were left at station nine, still trying to figure out what had happened.

"This ink mixture is level 2. Weren’t all the materials level 1?" Instructor Hao asked puzzlingly

"They are level one. Sometimes when certain materials are mixed, their level would increase. Although it isn’t common, it’s possible." Instructor Jin explained: "I think the secret is in his Inscription technique. Whoever taught him such an advanced technique should be a higher Inscription Master."

"He said he was taught by his father." Instructor Hao thought for a moment and said.

"His father? Have you met his father ?"’

"No, you should ask instructor Ye. He seems to have a good relationship with Li Juanxin and should know Mr Li."

"In that case, let’s pay Instructor Han a visit later." Instructor Jin said with a smile.

"You mean?..." Instructor Hao understood the hidden meaning and nodded in agreement.

The inscription manual they have is incomplete that’s why they’re stuck at level 5. But if they can get their hands on something more advanced, they were shown that they’ll be able to break through the bottleneck.

As the crowd gathered closer, the competition was about to start. Instructor Gao looked at the crowd excitedly. As a combat instructor, he loves combat the most.

Don’t think because there is a Level five weapon means the level two’s have no chance.

One thing to keep in mind is that all those swords started out at the same level.

They were later enchanted by the engraved inscriptions. The power of the inscription could fundamentally alter the dynamics of the weapon. But the duration is also important.

When Inscription engraving isn’t done right, it can become unstable, lasting only for a short period of time.

"The match is about to start. Are there any volunteers to test out these swords?" Instructor Gao called out to the crowd.

A few hands shot up almost instantly and five of them were chosen. Among them was Li Cheng.

How can Li miss the opportunity to test his brother’s weapon?

Only five swords advanced to the next round. Those that weren’t able to upgrade their sword to level two were immediately disqualified.

Those that advanced are He Zhihao, Xiong Xue, Li Hui, Li Juanxin, Zeng Ye, and Xie Huan.

"Remember, this is to test the weapon’s strength and durability. So attack the weapon, not the person." Instructor Gao instructor.

"Instructor Gao, I want to test my brother’s weapon. " Li Cheng said firmly.

Instructor Gao was taken aback at first, then smiled: "Ok, what’s your brother’s name?"

"Li Juanxin."

"Oh, the level five weapon Huh? You should stand on the side, you’ll be the last one."

"Ok."

The four combat students that were testing the level 2 swords, step into the ring. The crowd cheered excitedly.

The atmosphere vibrated with excitement and anticipation as Instructor Gao signaled the match to start.

"Begin!"

The sound of metal clashing filled the air as the first pairs lunged forward, testing. Each strike resonated with a sharp ring, the crowd erupting into cheers and gasps at every.

A loud crack sounded and a sword was broken into two.

"Unfortunately Xiong Xue’s sword has been broken. Let’s congratulate him for placing 5th."

The cheer echoed through the air. Xiong Xue accepted his rewards and left.

"Li Yanlin come on, you have to make Hui win." A voice cries from the crowd and others follow suit.

"He Zhihao , you can do it!"

"Who do you think is going to win?"

"He Zhihao, he is very talented and although he has only been at level 2 for a short while, I have no doubt that he’s going to win."

"What are you talking about? Although He Zhihao is talented, so is Li Hui. Between the two , I say Li Hui has a better chance at winning."

"Are you guys forgetting there is a level five weapon? I think that Li Juanxin kid might win."

"For a level 1 Inscriptionist to produce a level five product? That’s just a fluke. How is it you guys can’t see it?"

"Why don’t we bet on who the final winner would be?"

"If you’re eager to get in trouble, then go ahead. Rule 157 bans such indecent activities."

As the match continued, it intensified. The competitors fought instantly, waving and dodging as they aimed to wear down their opponents’ weapons.

The audience leaned on closer, their faces lit with excitement. Suddenly, two swords clashed violently, their swords met with a resounding echo, sending vibrations through the air.

"Oh, what an interesting turn of event. Unfortunately Zeng Ye’s sword is broken, making him 4th place. Let’s congratulate Zeng Ye for ranking 4th." Instructor Gao’s voice sounded once again, earning cheers from the crowd.

"Now only He Zhihao and Li Hui swords remain in the ring. The winner of this match will face the level five sword as stated earlier."

Li Hui watched nervously. He was confident at first that he was going to be the winner of this challenge, after all, he had been working very hard. Unfortunately, a kid came out of nowhere, actually produced a level five upgrade weapon. Which crushes his hope. But then, if he can’t get rank first, he could at least rank second. Luckily, the person testing his weapon is his brother Li Yanlin, a very skilled fighter.

The fight went on longer than expected. Even after 20 minutes, there was no sign of someone being defeated.

It took 30 minutes for the familiar cracking sound to be heard.

"Oh No! Unfortunately, He Zhihao sword has been broken. Congratulations to He Zhihao for ranking 3rd. Let’s congratulate him for the excellent performance of his weapon."

"As the winner of the previous match, Li Hui sword held by Li Yanlin and Li Juanxin’s sword held by Li Cheng, will face each other next."

The crowd buzzed with excitement. They didn’t expect such a small competition to be so exciting.

The best part is the more advanced their Inscriptionists become, the better their weapons would be in the future.
